That what I needed to now.. just did a full lawn treatment yesterday got creeping Charlie and creeping iris.. got a full three days of sunshine…consintrate weed be gone … and watching…

Always always place water into the tank 1st! Combining full strength Herbicides can result in a Chemical reaction forming a Gel like mixture.
No other herbicides were combined with this mix so there was no risk there. It’s not necessary to add water first in this situation.
Does the blue die stain the plastic in the sprayer?
It does not! I always practice rinsing my sprayer out after every use as well.
Works even faster if the water ph is correct. Most home water is higher than most plants uptake to high alkaline. So i adjust the ph, fertilizer or herbicide no matter what. With citric acid. But either way it works

@treasuredLawn lol. Old science. My bermuda ph is between 5.8 to 7. Alot of grass type are 6 to 7 cool season grasses as well .My tap water is above 8 so I lower the ph to 6ish (finished product) foliar the grass sucks it in with super quick results

Tenacity can be used at same time as seeding in cool season grasses. The only preM that can be. Keep in mind next time you seed a lawn. 🙂
How soon after this can you seed in the fall?
So with mesotrione it is safe to put down at the time of seeding once those seeds germinate though you’re going to want to wait at least 3 mows before putting it down.
Southern lawns and flowering trees are so far being northern lawns and trees ! Florida had like one purple flowering tree and one yellow. Up north we have about 9 different flowering trees right now ! And most lawns are nothing but crab grass !

Must have missed it in the booklet but how soon can my pet reclaim the yard? Time period before rain?
Once it’s dry you are good to let your pets and children on the lawn. Mesotrione is rain fast at around 4-6 hours when doing spot spraying.
So, according to the instructions I CAN NOT use this on bermudagrass unless it has gone dormant. Is this true?
I would refrain from using this on Bermuda grass unfortunately unless it is dormant like the label states. Warm season grasses tend to not like mesotrione so much unfortunately.

So this will not kill nutsedge it is labeled to control it but will not eradicate it. If you want a nutsedge killer check this video out that I also did.

Dude, new subscriber. Tenacity does have its place in Lawn Care. Specific for Grabgrass (and what you have looks to me like smooth crabgrass) I like to put some Quinclorac and Sulfentrazone in with the Tenacity. And thank you thank you thank you for mentioning the bleaching effect from the Tenacity. It seems like most folks "forget" to mention that. It looks like garbage for three weeks or so (roughly....might be a bit different in each person's lawn) but then things look SO MUCH better. And, dude, you are killing it with all the pro tips: Nitrogen (in a small amount) is a REALLY good thing to add to your tank (with all those Herbicides). Doing that today myself. And, thumbs up #359

We’re on our second application and it’s not working on most of the crabgrass. We are noticing some of it dead underneath, and after the second application a large patch of tall crabgrass is turning white but the majority of the crabgrass doesn’t seem affected. Not sure what we’re doing wrong. The majority of this lawn is crabgrass and it does seem very well established. When I tried to pull them out by the root last season the roots were very large. Is this why two applications of this mixture hasn’t done much? Please advise. We’ve been trying to tackle this issue for a couple years now. It feels like a losing battle.
It could be! Are you using a surfactant when applying? If the whole lawn is crabgrass you may be better off doing a full kill with something stronger and doing a reseed unfortunately. This application is more designed for spot treating.

@@TheRealHellataz it does take quite some time for this to die off. Once they are white though you should be able to mow them and then I’d wait a few days and then do another spray of product. Eventually they will disappear on you. If it’s all crabgrass though you need to get some good grass growing otherwise new crabgrass will just continue to fill its place.
Would adding an application of quinclorac help?

Hey there! Cpl brief questions, you say in your video that it works on cool weather lawns, but then say to not really use on warm weather lawns. However I saw a response you had to another person in the comments saying the opposite, that it works on both. You also mentioned in the video do not mow before or after application, what exactly time frame-wise do you mean by that? How long before is it okay to mow, and how long after should you wait to mow? I see in the video towards the end it seems like you say around day five for you You're ready to mow when you're seeing the change in the crabgrass. Lastly the blue dye, I see a couple of the sprays you had you're hitting your concrete, will that just wash away with water, should you stay away from your concrete or is it not an issue? Really lastly, why Tenacity vs quinclorac? Really curious about this answer!

Great questions, it is safe for some warm season lawns be sure to check the label and still use it as directed. Not all lawns are the same so there can be some issues when using it improperly.
General rule of thumb is don’t mow 3 days before or 3 days after. This gives the herbicide plenty of surface area and time to work.
The blue dye washes away and fades after time. I can’t tell you how many times it’s been on my concrete and then just gone after a good rainstorm comes in.
Tenacity is the brand name of mesotrione which is what I use in the video. A lot of people just call it the popular brand name kinda like Kleenex for tissue lol

@@jays566for me it was what I had on hand and because these lawns were not even a year old I wasn’t comfortable putting. Quinclorac on it yet. I might try it though this year on my neighbors lawn so stay tuned for that!

It kills a very wide range of weeds including crabgrass, nutsedge, ground ivy, dandelions, bentgrass, and many dicots and monocot broadleaf weeds.
Can you use dishwasher soap as a surfactant?
Yes you can use dish soap as a surfactant
Question: once dead, just pull them out or leave them?
Once they die they will shrivel up and basically disappear as you mow them. You can definitely pull them out if you’d like but I usually just let them go on their own unless they have seed heads on them then I will pull them to avoid spreading those seed heads. Great question!

@@jays566good question, so I try to get to spraying these before they go to seed for obvious reasons. I don’t want them to spread those seeds down for next season. The leaf blades are what give it away though that’s what’s telling me this is crabgrass. This is not a permanent solution this is post emergent so if you want something more permanent you need to look at preemergents the next season this will keep the crabgrass from coming up. I just watched another video from a lawn Care professional and he said you must know the type Of desirable grasses that you want to keep In order to know what Undesirable weeds and grasses you want to kill, You cannot just use any product on any grass. But

Well yes you do need to know what you want and don’t want in your yard…I have never met anyone who wants crabgrass in their lawn though and this product is safe for all types of lawns. It is very important though to read your labels before applying to your lawn. Nothing worse than applying the wrong product to your lawn.
If you’re in Michigan you have a cool season lawn which this product is definitely safe for unless you have bent grass which is highly unlikely. This will help eliminate the crabgrass but won’t prevent it for a full season you’ll need something else which I have created a video for as well!

Good video! Good job on emphasizing the bleaching with tenacity! If you have a lot of weeds the bleaching can be overwhelming and scary! I like it because I can really see where it’s working and maybe need additional treatment. Also the blue dye! Very useful but for heavens sake, Wear gloves!!! Takes 2-4 days to wear off you hands and no matter how careful you are you will get some on you! Again, Excellent video and information!

I have a warm season lawn and use Tenacity in my Centipede grass. It’s a great product just be sure to follow the label for your grass type.
For 2 gallons of water I use:
1 Teaspoon of Tenacity
3 Teaspoons of surfactant
4 Teaspoons of dye
I just installed a new lawn as well and it came with crabgrass that is now dying as we speak.
That’s a good mix! With your warm season do you do it when it’s dormant?
@@treasuredLawn I do use herbicides during dormancy (Nov-Feb) due to random weeds that might pop up during our “winter” season, but I use Tenacity year round due to it being one of the few herbicides that Centipede can tolerate.

Ok, I sprayed my whole entire yard using tenacity and I doubled spray the crabgrass but the results was not as I expected, unfortunately tenacity is just a lie because all the weeds grow back again
Tenacity is not a long term preventer. It will kill off what you have but will only keep weeds away for about 2 weeks. You’ll need a pre emergent if you want to keep weeds from coming back or a thick lush lawn that will help suppress weed pressure.
Are you sure it's crabgrass? We thought we had crabgrass but it wouldnt die no matter what we put on it. Needless to say we think it's Dallisgrass and that weed is way harder to get rid of. Good luck!
OK DUDE, I just bought 8 ounces of this stuff. I am DESPERATE to kill this mess. It is spreading RAPIDLY. We've been in a drought here in Jax, FL. Supposedly we were gonna get a BUNCH of rain. We have a low pressure system off of the coast and we've only gotten a little bit of rain, but that little bit of rain made the crabgrass EXPLODE and this has made me very CRABBY! 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
If it’s really bad you can mix a little with some quinclorac and you should be able to get it under control. Once it’s a huge infestation though it’s tough to get it under control so I’m wishing you the best of luck! Report back!

@@jays566 I used the product he recommended. I probably mixed it too strong. It turns the grass and weeds a sickly and very noticeable white. So, the neighbors are going to notice and maybe laugh a little at you. The product seems to have worked best in the front yard. I have a large area that is sparse now with St Augustine because the crabgrass died. It will turn your grass white too. I came along and mowed later and I hit the top of the affected blades of grass with the weed eater to hide the look and to hopefully nip the affect of the weed killer at the tip of the grass. I don't know how much it has hurt the grass but it doesn't seem to be dying but it didn't help it. I'll need to use some more of the product. My neighbor behind me has nothing but crabgrass, dollar weed and so on. The crabgrass seeds look like Bahia shoots but much smaller. Those seeds are very fine and impossible to keep out of the air when kicked up by the mower or the wind. In short, the chemical worked but not as much in some places. I have bits of crabgrass all over the yard.

I'm in New York and the level of heat and humidity this summer has been extreme. I have the worst crabgrass I ever had. It is spotty but there are endless amounts of it. To this point I'm only seeing the crabgrass wilt and turn brown and some white, my grass seems unaffected. I've been curious what others'experiences have been. I'll know more in a week, and even more the week after that
@treasuredLawn I live in California and have the smooth crabgrass leaf type. I’m going to try this on the crabgrass I have and see if it works. I tried quinchlorac with MSO and it hardly did anything to the crabgrass. I even did a second app on it. Anything to get rid of the crabgrass at this point.
You can even try combining this with quichlorac if you wanted but let me know how it turns out

@@treasuredLawn Applied the mesotrione with surfactant about 4 days ago and it’s definitely bleaching out the crabgrass. We shall see if it kills it in time.
@@treasuredLawn Will the crabgrass eventually shrivel up or might have to go in and rake them out manually once they are killed. I learned with crabgrass this season you have to kill crabgrass at a young stage with quinchlorac and MSO. Once the crabgrass is mature way harder to get rid of. I couldn’t use quinchlorac at first because I seeded in late March and the grass was too young. Now I know why it’s so important to do a renovation in fall.

Almost half of lawn is infested with crabgrass. Should i spray or should I completely remove all my grass. I'm not sure if my kentucky blue grass will grow again.
It should the good thing about KBG is it’s self repairing so you should be good once it’s gone.

Tenacity will hurt Bermuda, but won't kill it.
Every video i see is great for a small case, but what about 50% of .5 acre of crabgrass. Its like an uphill battle I cant win man. My poor st aug
Agreed if you have a lawn where it’s predominantly crabgrass because the infestation has taken over then you’ll need to do something else entirely
@@treasuredLawn what would you suggest? My thinking is wait till winter, pull up all the crabgrass I can, till it, lay down st aug sod in winter tightly, put down pre emergent early spring, hope for the best.
@@mrUsa051 this stuff here works amazing. I was working on editing this video but just got covid so everything I was doing is now delayed. This stuff killed all the crabgrass though in about a week.

why not just convert your whole lawn to crabgrass?
I mean you could if that’s what you wanted but typically winter it dies off so you won’t really have anything until the following season and overall it doesn’t exactly look great

Tenacity is safe for both warm and cool season lawns only caveat is temperature when application is made…sorry you didn’t like the music choice

@@detroitpyro2859 give it about 3 mows before applying again. This stuff can cause bleaching so the more you apply the more likely to get bleaching. See where the crabgrass is after a few weeks then apply again if needed
