The tip about chatting to serving staff also depends on the situation. I have family who work in the hospitality industry who complains about customers who chat to them for a long time and holds up the line or their other tasks. So it'd be wise to implement this only if you see there aren't other people waiting or if you don't sense any impatience from the staff i.e., please use your common sense.
In simple terms just sweet talk to others and you can manipulate others. That is very common in business where they backstab each other with no pure honesty and integrity lol. So yeah just make sure who to really trust or who just making stories for personal gain.
That doesn’t mean the storytelling technique wasn’t effective, it just means you weren’t the right target audience. It’s the concept of ‘sell me this pen’, if a person is not open to buying one at that moment, no matter what you say, he or she is not looking to buy one, unless that pen spits rainbows and cash🌈💵
😂 the underlying factor is u need to depend on commuters to look up to see the tag (instead of eyes glue to their phone)...plus cross fingers they read it properly for a long text on the tag. Just like my comment here.
Yeah, you've got a point. It's relatively small text and a long sentence to read. My eyesight probably wouldn't allow me to understand it properly unless I was right next to her. But the fact that it did prompt action was an encouraging sign!
Doubtful about how well the social norm technique would work on belligerent smokers choosing to smoke at void decks and common corridors. Previous non-nudge signage put up by the town council in my area was mysteriously removed on the problem floor, and previous non-aggressive pointing out that it was illegal was met with verbal aggression or disregard.
CNA has been using all these tricks including others that haven't been mentioned in this video to persuade you. This video on its own is trying to sway your mind 😊
Dear CNA, this is not an "emerging science" as your reporter claims, the popular book Nudge was published 15 years ago and the science behind nudge/persuasive theories has probably been in existence since 30 years or more
Food service has famously slim margins. Bad form to chew up their livelihood to make a doc. Will customers recognize those stalls and do the same? This was a bad look for journalism. Short-sighted.
some people are bad at everything they do no matter how much they practice. that doesn't mean practicing storytelling is a bad idea. I used to be a loser with no ability to speak my mind. Then I learned how to communicate effectively and now I'm a published author. You wrote a comment complaining about your inability to learn, and never learned to communicate effectively so you stayed that way. Pretty simple demo of storytelling here. It's REALLY not complicated, unless you're born with a room-temperature IQ.
The nudging hawker segment was rather lame. Had nothing to do with storytelling. Just compliment the hawker and ask for an extra spoon of helping. That's not skill. The hawker could have just given him the same helping and laughed internally at the young chap trying to charm them. It would have been more impressive if he had gotten a free meal from the hawkers. Now that's jedi level storytelling. Also, I would have appreciated if the interviewers really poke and prodded the people they interviewed. The first woman said Donald Trump used emotion. Well, just because you use emotion doesn't mean it's untrue. Similarly, just because you don't use emotion does not mean it's true. The sensible listener would have to study the facts for themselves after the debate regardless of who the better storyteller was.
I had the opportunity to attend a face-to-face talk held by that nudging hawker gentleman Darren Tay, and he was amazing in terms of being able to pass down his persuasive skills to the attendees. He did indeed show us how much of an excellent orator he is and how he could in fact persuade someone if he wanted to. As you know, maybe he was requested by CNA to only ask for extra portions and not to completely get a meal for free! If you wanna know more about him he has a book called Express to Impress and he founded Public Speaking Academy.
The seat tag thing - i wldnt respond to it any which way the text goes. No head no tail. U want to sit, i also want to sit. What makes you more legit. "More ppl support giving up seats"? Why don't you give up seat to me then. Hmmmpfff.
Hi production team, 70% of viewers support giving Jason a raise 😁😁
He nudged you to make this comment.
Oh did you nudge me to make this comment
Viewers are persuaded already!
Y dums ,, it’s just a show don’t be carried away😂😂😂 you go bankrupt if you be like this
This is sheer gold. I can already see the potential for application in convincing my father to change his diet and eat healthy.
Give Jason a raise! I'm loving this series!
Persuasion is having a sweet tongue. It can both be positive or negative depending on the setting. We can choose to be wise to it.
This series is quite interesting 👍 been slowly watching all of it. Its informative, good storytelling

I didn’t expect to see Torres and GG in this channel 😂

My insurance agent had dedicated a fair amount of time telling me about her sad story but at the end of it, I didn't buy anything from her.... 😅
Because she tells her story, but not your story. In other words, you couldn't relate the story she shared. 😅

Appeal to emotions.

👍👍👍
Scammers and liars are most capable of doing that.
It's not persuasion. It's just neverending talk to dull all your senses until you give in and surrender.

@@Ani_Xin12 Maybe changing it to "Can you give up your seat? I have a medical condition." can help also?

Sure if you're a good storyteller but like anything, some people are good at it some people aren't even after practicing

endometriosis is curable, surgery can remove it
Same traits like scammers
