    I've had this car for one month, and here are my thoughts:
    Positives:
    The engine noise isn’t bad at all. In fact, I’ve only noticed it a few times when pressing the pedal aggressively. If the reviewer hadn’t mentioned it, I probably wouldn’t have thought to bring it up.
    The soundproofing is incredible. I once had to yell through a closed window to explain something to my wife, and she didn’t hear a thing-impressive.
    The engine’s reliability lives up to Honda’s reputation-rock solid.
    The Honda eCVT transmission is nothing like a traditional CVT or Toyota’s eCVT. Honda’s design is genius-it doesn’t use gears in the usual sense. Instead, the engine powers a generator connected to two electric motors, which drive the car up to 120 km/h. Beyond that, a clutch engages, and the engine takes over directly on petrol. The transition is so smooth and seamless-you’re going to love it.
    Visibility is excellent. The high seating position and large windows give you a clear, commanding view of the road.
    The base model is well-equipped with all the essentials. Most of the optional extras are cosmetic, so you can save money without missing out on anything important.
    Fuel economy is fantastic-I’ve barely noticed the need to refuel.
    Negatives:
    The boot space is on the smaller side, especially considering how much legroom the back seats have. That said, the Magic Seats system helps offset this by giving you more flexibility for larger loads.
    It’s more of a city car than a highway cruiser. If you spend most of your time on the motorway, you might want something with a bit more power. But let’s face it-speedy cars are becoming a thing of the past with manufacturers downsizing engines to meet eco standards.
    Verdict:
    My budget was 29K EUR, and for that price, the only real competitor was the Toyota C-HR. While the C-HR might be slightly better overall, I just couldn’t get past its looks-it’s so ugly! For a little extra, the Mazda CX-30 mild hybrid is a perfect alternative, but I was determined not to spend a single euro more. Ultimately, I chose this beauty, and I have no regrets.

    I’ve had this facelift HRV for a few months now and I absolutely adore this car. It’s super comforable, very economic and the ride is very smooth. My average fuel consumption is 4.9l/100km and the lowest I went was 3.7l/100km. It’s a lovely car but if you need more power you should look elsewhere. For me it’s absolutely enough.

  • @peterneale6278

    Honda, like most car manufacturers, has many differences within each model depending on which country in which it is being sold. In Australia we don't have so many multiple trim levels, but the important parts are still pretty much the same. I recently bought a MY25 HR-V and I am very happy with my choice so far. My choice of alternative was a Toyota Yaris Cross, and I have no regrets of my decision. A few things to note, 1) in Australia the HR-V is legally required by Australian Design Rules to be sold as a 4-seater, not five. There is no centre seat belt fitted in the back. That is fine with me because there are only two of us. 2). Headroom in the back is only an issue for "six-footers". I am 170cm (about 5'8") and there is plenty of headroom. 3) The petrol engine does not make "a hell of a racket" under any normal circumstances. It is usually so quiet that it's hard to tell if it is actually running. I haven't driven any faster than 100km/hr and I'm not likely to because there are very few roads here with a higher speed limit. I have read that Honda has improved the sound deadening in the update model. 4) In Australia. all Hondas come with 5-year warranty with capped-price servicing and roadside assist. The warranty is extended to 8 years if you have the car serviced at a Honda dealer. 5) Price comparisons vary by country. In Australia, the HR-V is a bit dearer than a Yaris Cross, but somewhat cheaper than a Skoda Karoq or a Toyota Corolla Cross. And it is more easily available than either of the Toyotas. I received mine only one week after ordering, compared with many months for the Toyotas.

      We signed for an e:HEV X earlier this month (Jan 25) but since we wanted green and none were available, have to wait until March. Apart from the red, my wife and I didn't like the other colours much and the green is limited to the hybrid models. Green is fairly unusual, especially in a pearl as opposed to a metallic. We are actually yet to see a green car, it was the only colour not in stock even in the higher model. Doubtless there are some in other dealers on the mainland, I'd imagine. At least we know we'll get 2025 manufacture.

      Never tried the Toyota engine, but the engine noise in my HRV is horrendous when climbing big hills (with a loaded car) or putting my foot down to overtake etc. I took mine back to the dealer after a couple of months because I thought there was something wrong with it! Apart from that, it's a good car.

    • @craig3211
      @craig3211 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @ A fully loaded hybrid car of that size in that price bracket (regardless of brand) is going to be noisy when climbing big hills. Only way to “reduce” that is to go to the next sized hybrid engine. Some cars do have a little more sound deadening materials but those will have other issues to consider.

    • @ffotograffydd
      @ffotograffydd 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Toyota has reduced the noise on the Yaris Cross by adding more insulation and thicker glass. It’s now less noisy than the HR-V. Honda could have done the same.

    • @craig3211
      @craig3211 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@ffotograffydd Toyota needs to use more sound deadening materials due to the way their hybrids work/sound. I have found they do this by compromising in other areas. It is then up to the individual to identify your priorities. What are you having to give up. Although Toyota has got a leg up in some of their hybrids in the fact they still have a spare wheel. As far as the Honda personally I find it a more refined finish & overall better driving experience. Don’t get me wrong if I didn’t own a Honda I would probably have a Toyota

    Why buy this car, it actually achieves its claimed MPG, it has no gearbox, it has an incredibly simple engine, it has all the tech as standard with lane keep and adaptive cruise that is better in use than the Tesla autopilot - I have both cars. It’s built in Japan which means it will not break - actual rather than perceived build quality is just much better than other cars. It’s cheap to run and insure, it’s very spacious and comfortable, because the front seat folds back flat you can load the longest IKEA boxes in it. Pick the Advance trim which is the second cheapest and you get every option you’re ever going to want. Basically a great second car to buy and forget about that just does every job very well. Downsides, the engine is a bit noisy. Things to improve, use the 2.0 engine and add a motor to the rear axle to make it 4wd.

    I have a Lexus ux250h (full hybrid) that does 0-60 in 8.4 seconds and a fuel consumption averaging 55mpg over the 7 months I’ve had it (mostly city driving). Both of those stats beat the Honda but the Honda does have more rear space. I believe both cars use a CVT ‘gearbox’ and both will make that ‘mooing’ noise under hard acceleration. You soon get used to it and it has never bothered me. Nobody buys a car like this for performance. This does look like a good car for build quality and should be reliable. It should hold it’s value reasonably well. Demand for full hybrids is on the rise.

      @fredrubble5024 A full hybrid is a self-charging hybrid (it never gets plugged into an electricity supply). A 'plug-in hybrid' does not charge it's battery from the engine and needs charging from a chargepoint. Both types are often lazily referred to as hybrids but they are not the same thing.

I haven't had three people in the back of my car for decades and generally leave at least one, sometimes both seat folded down all the time. There's a UK test on TH-cam and the guy sits in the centre rear seat. It might suit legless dwarfs or children just out of child seats, normal people, no way.

    I drive this one year now, I chose the HRV mostly for the looks in the Sand Khaki color 😊 To be honest, yes it´s not the quickest and quietest (engine + wind/road noise) Also a lot of hard plastic inside + carpet feels cheap + bodywork and bonnet are very thin/flexible (you can see the bonnet actually flex +120km/h) If you do a lot of highway or you drive often with passengers/cargo this car feels underpowered and will be disappointing and tiring. Luckely I drive 90% alone, mostly mixed roads and I´m not a ´fast´ driver, so I still enjoy it. But it has to be said, I was expecting a little more refinement from Honda.

Try to accelerate uphill on the motorway in the Ardennes and you know what I mean. Lots of noise for ages and nothing much in speed. Bought a Mazda instead. Just put a deposit on one, and yes the boot is small, smaller than our Peugeot 308 II's, it's the overall package we like. Australia doesn't get those really nice two-tone interiors and maybe fewer exterior colour choices too. We're getting Botanical Green which is a light to mid green pearl paint, only found on the hybrid models. The poor middle seat isn't an issue for us Aussies because we don't get one :) There's no tether point for a child seat so Honda made it a 4-seater for the Oz market. Every single test published here waffles on about the lack of the middle rear seat. Judging by this review, we're missing out on very little.

    i think the biggest miss for this HRV is the cabin height space and the boot space. A downgrade from the previous gen. I had to duck in order not to bump my head on the frame.

    No rear headroom. The designers don't seem to care that rear passengers can seriously crick their neck if the car bounces over a speed hump.

    It is utterly baffeling to me why Honda didn't use the brilliant drivetrain or at least an e-transmission from the Civic, Z-rv, etc. And how on earth do they manage to make such unpractical cars considering the footprint, that is beyond me.

      @ before the FL HrV had a standard CVT gearbox, Civic uses an E gearbox, same as electric cars, so it doesnt technically have a gearbox. Im not sure what the situation is like now. The drivetrain of the civic hybrid is entirely different, the car is mostly driven by an electric motor and the ICE engine servs as a generator of electricity

      @ different engine. The eHRV has the 1.5 and the Civic has the two litre. Actually the noise isn’t really a problem unless you drive up hills a lot or accelerate fast. I do neither and regularly get 62 mpg, and sometimes in summer over 70. (UK). The car will cruise easily at 70 or 80 mph. I think the tester must have been flooring it a lot to get as low as 50mpg.

    Love the reliability but too much is wrong with it. Terrible interior design with a cheap knockoff ipad glued to the dashboard compared to Hyundai and Kia sweeping dashboards. The rear seats are a joke and they would have been better moving the seats forward to get a small boot instead of a tiny one. The magic seats look like deck chairs. Worst of all a hybrid should do better than 10 secs and this doesn't even get close. Any ownder Honda are lookign to partner with Nissan.

    I don't understand what Toyota and Honda have been doing with their best models lately. It feels like they have some kind of MOLE that is deliberately harming the development and sales of these companies. Because the lack of headroom in the 2nd row of seats and a 300-liter trunk are nonsense, absurd and unacceptable in any case.

  • @lDaniOkl
    @lDaniOkl 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    -The noise isn't related to the hybrid system; that's how the CVT (continuously variable transmission) works, keeping the engine at the most efficient point during acceleration (meaning high revs).-
    -This also causes the driver to feel 'disconnected' from the car, which is a common downside of CVTs-
    It seems to be a nice family car, but I can't even imagine how much it will cost to repair such complex hybrid system once the warranty is up.
    Edite:
    Thanks for the comments below - it’s never too late to learn something new 😊
    Many reviews wrongly mentioned a CVT in the hybrid version, but the car indeed doesn’t have any gearbox.
    As I've now understood, it simply revs the engine high during rapid acceleration to deliver maximum energy to the electric motor and then switches to engine drive mode at high speeds
