HummZinger feeders are in my opinion the best feeder made! I have 8 of them.

I agree, I got the same kind of feeder. Bees were taking over the one I made for the birds and so I got one like this one. They are ant and bee proof and works great. With the ant moat and the holes being small enough that the bees can't get to the nectar and move on. Nice job on the vid, thanks. :)

Thank you for the video. I also like the shepherd's hook idea!!! I got more than what I asked for... Outstanding!

Not knowing how to get the big red top off is what inspired me to seek info on this product from TH-cam! Thanks for showing me how! (you would think that would be on the printed instructions that came with the product!). I learned from your video and want to say thank you!

Excellent review, cautiously screw in the hook, I did it too tight and eventually it cracked. The best feeder I’ve ever had over many years, none of those separate flower ports to clean,!,!

Thanks! I was worried about the open top but it's an ant moat!! Perfect!

I have this same feeder and I love it. So do the hummers! And no wasps or bees can access the nectar. Even ants are deterred by the center well that holds only water.

Where did you get the flower hooks that the feeder is on? They are really cute!

New Day Videos I realize your post is 3 years old, but I wanted to say that hummingbirds love these feeders. I have 10 up during migration time when there are 25-30 hummers here at one time. They love these feeders.

Definitely never EVER use vegetable oil or anything of this nature on the hooks or anywhere close to the feeder as it could get on the hummingbirds wings and you’d be endangering them.

Do you have any problem with cats, etc., bothering the hummingbirds when you have it so close to the ground?

  • @autumnwhispers2me

NEVER put any kind of oil on a feeder pole or feeder! My hummingbirds often perch on top of the hook part of the pole, and if there were oil or grease on it the hummer would have oily feathers that would render them unable to fly. They have very tiny legs, which means when they perch their body also touches where they perch.
There is an ant moat in the feeder, so anything else is unnecessary and redundant.
It’s a good idea to not have the hummingbird feeder hanging that low to the ground as it makes them easy prey for any cat etc that comes along. Hummingbirds look up most of the time because they’re watching for other hummers trying to claim their feeder, so looking up, coupled with a feeder very low to the ground is a recipe for disaster.

I did it incorrectly. In 3 days I will fill it again and correct my errors. I could not get the top off, now I know how to do it. I was trying to unscrew the top, now I know it pops off. I was putting sugar water in the part where clear water was supposed to go. Sorry birds.

I bought exclusively from this company for the convenience of the design as I feed hummingbirds all year round. I have learned that this product contains BPA ( nasty chemical found in most plastics) after contacting the company they make no claim one way or the other if this nasty chemical harms the birds or not. There is an abundance of knowledge and data regarding the carcinogenic effects of BPA. In my opinion it’s safe to draw my own conclusions on this one - lack of evidence does not mean evidence of lack. I’m convinced to use glass or ceramic exclusively and do my part in keeping my fragile friends safe of (yet) more man made toxics in our/their environment!

I saw this on TV-maybe QVC & they cut 1"bananas & seemed to add water. I'm just thinking this might have more vitamins & minerals than sugar water. It is just a supplement for fruit flies & other food.
