- This is a new open world solo build for Untamed Rangers since the loss of Fervent Force in the June 27th balance patch. It boasts moderate solo dps (~15k), insanely strong self healing, and can easily solo Legendary Bounties and more!
Exact build I'm using in the video clips:
gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAceNl...
Ideal build (Using Sword, can easily swap for Longbow):
gw2skills.net/editor/?POABcexf...
0:00 Intro
1:06 Traits
1:56 Weapons and Skills
3:31 Gear, Runes and Sigils
4:12 Rotation
7:41 Wrap up
Edit: Storm Spirit is also a very good option for this build and can be used to replace Unnatural Traversal if you don't want/need the mobility. Storm Spirit does good damage, triggers quickness with it's disable, and gives Fury and Vulnerability uptime. It can also be used safely from 600 range.
Just discovered your channel, and gotta say that was a really thorough explanation. Thank you for breaking it down so well, makes it a lot easier to understand how everything interacts and the synergies that the build brings to pull off that survivability.
Keep doing your thang homie!
Thank you, I really appreicate the feedback as a new channel. Looking forward to more :)
This is such a good build guide! I playing a lot of druid after the changes and wanted to hop back into untamed and this build has amazing. Tried it out on a few champ hps, took me a bit to get used to but turned out to be a lot of fun. Can't wait for your next guides
Thanks mate, glad I could help, looking forward to making more!
great vid! looking forward to more open world builds from u!!
Thanks for showing this off! I like the new Let Loose trait, and I’ll have to try this out, and mess around with other weapons like sword or hammer.
Also really like your outfit for your Ranger.
My pleasure, I appreciate the feedback, it's my favourite build for open world of all the profs/specs I've tried so far! (PS: It's just Mist Shard Armor, but I like it too!)
Pack runes are also a decent lower cost alternative to Fireworks runes as they have similar buffs but Pack runes trade the movement speed for +125 precision. I offer that as supplemental info.. but who reads comments anyway? lol Great work on this video. Subbed.
I read the comments 🙂 Thanks for the addition, I hadn't actually used Pack yet so that's another good option. I must admit I'm a sucker for a bit of move speed though haha
@@WilstormGaming Absolutely. Movement is life in this game! You can sort of get close to the movement cap with Ranger & Swiftness thou and the pack runes will buff your pet as well so there's that too. No wrong answer really. This game is a build tweaker paradise!
Yeah Pack's extra precision and boons to the pet (I didn't consider this because I originally tested in nature magic where your pet shares boons anyway) definitely gives the slight DPS edge to Pack over Fireworks. Appreciate the input!
Great stuff!
My first character was a Ranger and I have more hours playing it than all my other characters combined, but I mostly play it as a Soulbeast. I’d like to learn Untamed, so I’m going to give this build a try. Thanks for the great video.
I actually keep trying to play SB and druid in open world content and for me at least, it just doesn't compare to untamed - it's so self reliant I love it
Fantastic, thank you!
Thanks for the video. Been playing untamed since the day they reworked this trait. I honestly don't understand why it's still unpopular. The gameplay is sooo satisfying. I really enjoy using hammer btw, because I like the visual and sound effect of it :D It also bring some decent utility (leap and breaker bar damage) and high sustained damage.
Yeah I'm loving Untamed, very satisfying hitting those unleashed ambushed! Best thing about hammer is the alternate moveset when pet unleashed and the awesome utility/survivability that brings. Thanks mate
excellent
The trait that gives you quickness when you disable is a bit weird with the hammer because you have to be unleashed for it and then the hammer doesn't have the CC skills.
However, you can activate hammer 3 or 5 while pet is unleashed and then unleash yourself before the skill actually hits. This will give you quickness and set you up to use hammer 2 or 4 which both deal extra damage to disabled foes.
That's a cool interaction I didn't know you could do, thanks! But yes it's very annoying you can't benefit from the quickness easily with a hammer. That's part of why I prefer the Axe, Sword (Ambush has a daze that triggers quickness) or LB.
I am using 2 mainhand axes for my condi let loose build.
That looks ridiculously fun! Time to dust off my Ranger...
I've been playing around with SoulBeast and the new condi druid for open world and I still genuinely like the build in this video the most for my open world content - it's so good!
Would I have to change the build drastically if I wanted to use the hammer? I only ask cause I've always thought hammer was one of the most fun weapons on hunter.
Not at all, the Hammer skills all scale well with power (not condition dmg) so its perfectly suitable for this build. I would go Hammer with a ranged option in the off-hand (either Axes or LB) and you shouldn't need to make any changes to the traits. The big difference is you'll have a less Might and quickness uptime because you won't have the Axe 1 or Sword 1 auto-attacks (both provide might) or Axe 4, so make sure you hit Unnatural Traversal and Exploding Spores on cool down! In this case I would definitely choose Diviners gear over Beserkers to help with your boon uptime (25 stack Might uptime is significant for damage). Hope that helps!
@@WilstormGaming well good thing I have a mix of diviners with a few berserkers on my hunter already. Thanks alot!
I wanna see you solo the mushroom queen HP in Tangled Depths with this build!
Yeah I can if you want, Mushroom Queen HP is kinda trivial for Untamed, your pet just tanks and you throw axes at it for like a minute....
@@WilstormGaming Ah, ok. I gotta get out of the face tanking mindset.
they mentioned that they really want Hammer to be the main power damage weapon for Untamed but it seems like still behind AXE in many ways
Yeah the hammer's raw damage on its abilities is fine, it just lacks in boon sustainment by itself. Axe 1 and Sword 1 give might sustain, axe 4 has the disable to proc quickness. The hammer also doesn't have any big burst compared to something like axe 5.
Had no idea the new untamed trait could heal that much... pretty cool build for Solo play
How would you change this to run in e
Wvw just curious
Great video
Probably too much to sum up in one comment, WvW is a very different game mode. But if you wanted to make just a few changes you should focus on more utility/survival for WvW. At least I would change to Runes of the Pack, or Dolyak/Durability for a more defensive option. Swap your sigils for things like Cleansing or Celerity. Swap in some utility skills such as Lightning Reflex, Mutate Conditions, Quickening Zephyr and definitely Forests Fortification. Take the cleansing Unleash Trait. Just a few things to consider, but without an entirely new build guide I can't give a cut and dry answer to that.
@@WilstormGaming you have been enormous help thanks I’ll figure things out from here
How well can this build hold up now? And would celestial armor work?
Still holds up perfectly well, although if you check my channel I released an updated version of this build which is better.
Thank you
What Relic do you use?
Thief or fireworks are generatthe best power relics now. I prefer thief! I'm actually about to release an updated version of this build with changes since SOTO in the next 12 hours or so, so stay tuned!
It is ok that your crit chance uncapped?
Yeah for an open world build that's okay. I've put more value into boon uptime since we are solo and need to maintain our own boons (not in a group that maintains all the boons for you). I tested this on the golem lots and having high boon was always better than full berserkers to try reach crit cap etc. not to mention survivability from defensive boon uptime (just think how big the difference in your dps is when you are in an organised group and you have perma 25 stack might, quickness etc... boons are huge!)
Best unleashed build I've tried so far but still strongly dislike unleashed. The whole mechanic feels so clunky to me, especially the fact that you can't set pet unleash to auto-cast. Then also the fact that unleash has less cooldown that the buffs/abilities it provides, meaning if you have big trouble with hidden cooldowns it's kinda scuffed to play.
One tip I can provide is to look at your axe 3 skill. It also has a 10sec cooldown, so if your rotation has a M/hand axe, you can use the cooldown of your third skill to know when your pet unleashed skills will be available. Another method is to look if your weapon swap cooldown is available when you automatically swap after you ambush.
You don't even name your pets, shameful.
Haha woops! I'll do better and name them for the next vid!
Literally everything is viable for solo content... the game is so easy! what are people talking about? god sakes I know GW2 is casual but get good people lol 🤣
good luck do solo bounty with power berserker or dragonhunter
I agree everything is viable for solo content because that's just about having fun and playing what you enjoy. Just objectively though, not every spec/build is capable of doing some of the harder solo content, they just don't do the numbers/healing required.
i dont think anyone was really saying its going to be strong or weak. the issue is the core identity of the class was literally 1 trait and its gone now. there really is nothing left to justify calling this an elite spec.
I agree no spec should be so reliant on a single trait for identity and this is something ANet should work on in future, all it's really got is the unleashed ambush component of the spec. Something as simple as giving all weapons an unleashed moveset like the hammer could be a good way to give the spec some more identity. I'm still really enjoying the spec though.
