Person with a Channel except I wouldn’t call deaf people “deafs” in my experience deaf people prefer being referred to as either deaf, hearing impaired or hard of hearing (not trying to sound preachy, just thought I’d mention it :)
I was at the shops with my deaf friend and this lady came up to her and went “excuse me...don’t your hands get tired of all that pointless movement? Like wouldn’t it be easier to just speak?” Now, I think she knew she was deaf because it was clear she was doing sign language because she was trying to talk to me (I learnt sign language so we could communicate better) I got really annoyed. I said something like “I think it is clear that she is deaf and this is her way of communicating and if you didn’t know or couldn’t pick up on it..I’m sorry that I’m being so forward but honestly..some respect would be nice..” and she just looked at me and went “why are you even friends? It’s not like she can even speak to you” she then stared at me as I signed to my friend what we should do next and we decided to be petty so we just started signing swearwords to her as she continuously asked us what we were saying...just...everyone deserves respect and you should never tell a deaf person to “just speak” because...that’s not how things work
Don't you think they could mean that deaf people can't hear sirens and other cars giving them signals (honking etc.) and might be concerned about that🤔 that's just a guess obviously and I bet there are people that just say things without thinking about it. As for me it comes from a respectfull and serious question since I wondered about that too
Hearing is very important when you drive. There is a blind spot in the mirrors and most times you realise there is a motorbike or another car by sound. While i get the need to drive, i don't know how responsible it is to do so without hearing.
The people staring is quite funny! I am hearing but I'm a sign language student and I can even hear people saying 'look! They're signing!' From behind me when I'm signing on the bus to a friend!!!

It’s depends on deaf people. Like me, I’m deaf and use CI. I can hear, speak and use ASL. Ofc I can hear music but couldn’t understand some words from songs.
auditoryneuroscience.com/prosthetics/noise-vocoded-speech & auditoryneuroscience.com/prosthetics/music simulate what you hear when using cochlea implants. It's really difficult to understand speech because they hear way less frequencies than hearing people do.
I'm not too sure, but from what I understand there's a wire going through her cochlear and that replaces the slime thing that's in there. That's what my dad explained to me when my brother got one
i have cros aids. cochlear implants do around the same thing. it picks up noises from the side you can’t hear on a crosses it over to the side you can hear on. it’s confusing, hopefully i explained it good enough.
The sound processor on her ear picks up sound, transforms it into a digital code and gives it to a sending device. This device sends the code to the implant, which is under the skin (notice the thin wire running to her hair, that's where the implant is). This device under her hair is connected to her cochlea, and stimulates the hearing nerve, which sends signal to her brain.

Just because someone cannot speak or has a speech disorder doesn't always mean they are deaf. My family and I are fluent in sign and so is my sister, though that is not her Main source of assistance. Yeah, I'm totally guilty of staring at people signing. Partially because it's such a beautiful language that catches your eye, and partially because I'm really really bad at eavesdropping. Oops!
Well to be devils Advocate , hearing people (outside of a school setting) will not normally see deaf people that often, so there will be some suprise and even in school hearing and deaf study seperate. So not understanding the music or driving aspect is normal. Driving is a rather auditory thing for some people who live in big cities where honking is very very very prevelant . Also a lot of hearing people may not have the same sensitivity to sound as deaf ppl do . I could play a song on max volume with earplugs in and very well may not be able to tell u what I'm listening to. Y'all are superhuman like that. In regards to how deaf ppl look, for the deaf that speak (verbally) while signing or for those that can read lips and respond verbally, you hold your tounge in a way that most deaf do and that's a tell. You also observe and walk a different way that can be hard to explain. So I could totally pick a deaf person out of a crowd if they did certain actions , other than signing. So while annoying just try to remeber you may be the first deaf person a hearing person has come into contact with and they will ask you questions that are actually pretty basic in the hearing world, but you all hear them alot because you are a hearing persons first time encounter. They probably aren't trying to be rude but just understand. What my family always taught me was "always awnser the dumb simple questions, because if you don't, people will make up their own awnsers, and that could be worse
Not knowing doesnt make it ok... i think what is a good take away is think thoughtfully before asking. Its not abt you should just know abt deaf culture its abt being mindful when talking to people. Just think abt it a little before asking if shes clearly enjoying the music and in the car abt to drive its clear its something she can do.
Sometimes people genuinely don’t know and you may be the first hard of hearing or deaf person they ever met. It’s sad that’s how people react though, what I’ve been told is to treat everyone, I mean everyone, just how you would a friend, or how you would like to be treated. Being very nice and welcoming is a start ❤️
i have questions: 1: what if you get pulled over? do you just type stuff in ur phone to communicate? 2: what if something is gonna happen and someone honks their car? 3: have you been deaf your whole life? 4: what does the thing in your ear do? yeah thats all i have.. im being that annoying person but idk im curious
I always thought that deaf people was different but from this video I have learnt there just like us and not different at all and there still funny and thoughtfull and I like that deaf people are still smart and people who make fun of deaf people think about if your parents were deaf you wouldn't make fun of them so don't do it to any deaf people and treat them the same
I understand how a lot of these can get annoying, and yes you shouldn’t go around asking deaf people these questions but I understand that some people are just curious so if you have any more questions feel free to ask me! (I am not deaf by the way, I am just very involved in the deaf community) I know asl not bsl
ITSLIZZ we’ll sign language would be the first option I would choose, but some deaf people don’t know sign language, and since you’re asking I’m guessing you don’t know sign language either. A lot of deaf people can read lips, but you don’t have to talk slowly unless they ask you to, just talk normally. And remember always be friendly! Deaf people are exactly the same as us except for the fact that they can’t hear :)
Elise Ecklund’s Daughter cochlear implants can help deaf people in a variety of ways, depending on how deaf they are to begin with. Yes there are many levels of deafness. Cochlear implants don’t do much for profoundly deaf people. And still if you get a cochlear implant it doesn’t guarantee you will be able to hear perfectly. Speech sounds choppy, and so on. But, cochlear implants do help some deaf people, and can help improve their speech if they do choose to use their voice.
Caityotic Well most of her most popular videos are on the topic of her being deaf, and why would someone fake being deaf? Did you think she was having a deaf voice and signing to be funny lol
*People: You don’t look like deaf to me* *Me: Oh yea? You don’t look like hearing to me* Seriously, that’s dumb question ever. Sometime people are ignorant smh
But why is somebody telling you that they’re learning sign language annoying? It’s their way of letting you know they want to try to communicate with you with signing, but they’re not the best at it so don’t expect to have a full blown conversation with them. What’s wrong with trying to learn it? I’m personally learning sign language so I can communicate with deaf customers at my job, but now I’m afraid to let them know that I’m barely learning...
Omg BEST DISCOVERY EVER! I’m also deaf but I have two cochlear implants :) I learned sign language when I was young, before I had my first implant so I don’t remember a lot of it sadly. This made me realize how much I am lucky to be born in 2002, because I had my first cochlear implant at two years old and my second cochlear implant at ten years old. I also have some struggles but not the same one haha! Anyways, have a wonderful day and don’t let ANYONE push you down because deaf people can be as successful as “normal” people! 💜💜💜
As weird as it sounds, 4:15 made me smile. It reminded me of my cousin whose deaf, because she’s always grown up being so freaking good at physical comedy. She never fails to make me laugh with her skits. It’s amazing how expressive deaf people are once you get to know them.

Omfg. "When life hit you hard"
That was so funny 😂😂
Your mom seems so amazing and supportive! You’re lucky to have her
Sometimes people genuinely don’t know and you may be the first hard of hearing or deaf person they ever met. It’s sad that’s how people react though, what I’ve been told is to treat everyone, I mean everyone, just how you would a friend, or how you would like to be treated.
Being very nice and welcoming is a start ❤️
I laughed when it said
“You don’t look deaf to me”
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
😂😂😂❤️
When you thought you’d understand some but you only know a bit of asl and this is not asl
I feel horrible but
My first thought when I saw the title was
“Wait they couldn’t hear you anyway??”
😭😂😳
i have questions:
1: what if you get pulled over? do you just type stuff in ur phone to communicate?
If you ever encounter a deaf person, how do you communicate with them
What effect do chochlear implants take on you if u cant hear whats the poin
Keira Runyan oh ok! thank you and youre correct i don’t understand sign language:)
This video should have been:
What not to say to deaf people: everything. They can't hear you
This is not hate. This is purely a fun joke
You should also not say anything to anyone if you are stupid and offensive.
Guys, if you dont know sign language, you can turn on the captions. It works!!!
love ur singing! 😍 0:15
Im deaf and I have implant but im learning english and polish cuz im half polish
The most annoying thing to me is
When you ask what I have in my ear
I didn't know she was ACTUALLY deaf!
Caityotic Amongst her many other videos of her bringing up the topic of being deaf, you didn’t know? Yeah ok
@@CatLeeXoX Well do you expect a new subscriber to see all her videos in 1 week? Lol
Caityotic Well most of her most popular videos are on the topic of her being deaf, and why would someone fake being deaf? Did you think she was having a deaf voice and signing to be funny lol
@@CatLeeXoX Look, I only watched 2 of her videos when I made this comment..
Caityotic And how was I to know that? lol sorry for the misunderstanding I guess
I’m sorry if this offends anyone. I just want to know. I’m sorry. What does your cochlear implant do?
brandi boeni Why not you look it up in google genius...
Google is here for a reason 🙂😂
It lets deaf people hear. I have 2 on one side each and without them I cannot hear.
D. Śłåÿęr she’s just asking a question like everyone else on TH-cam does and in the nicest way possible, sheesh!
@TrUEtaLenT so you only hear things which are located nearly to your 'hearing' ear or...?
Title: "Say"
Me: okay.
I can still understand her with her deaf voice❤️🥰
she’s so pure 😍 They both are 🙏🏻❤️
“You don’t look deaf”
You mean they don’t look like a person who can’t hear? Are you DUmB? 😂❤️
I understond nearly everything what you said at the intro♥️love ypur videos
I'm half deaf and here's one I've heard recently:
"Your ears are just messed up"
:( ...
@MoonBloom "You're"
You are ears aren't messed up
@MoonBloom You're welcome lol
I love how her mom supports her on her channel! Love them both😊
I feel like asking about it would be rude so I’d just look on google for answers
Your deaf speaking is SO ASMR! I love this video! 💞💞
I am from Romania.I am not so good at English!!Sorry if u don’t understant...😕
*People: You don’t look like deaf to me*
*Me: Oh yea? You don’t look like hearing to me*
Seriously, that’s dumb question ever. Sometime people are ignorant smh
I think you and molly Burke should do a collaboration, I would love to see that!
how would that be possible if molly cant see > she cant communicate via sign language
karneez Molly has done it before it just depends if jazzy is a good lip reader
But why is somebody telling you that they’re learning sign language annoying? It’s their way of letting you know they want to try to communicate with you with signing, but they’re not the best at it so don’t expect to have a full blown conversation with them. What’s wrong with trying to learn it? I’m personally learning sign language so I can communicate with deaf customers at my job, but now I’m afraid to let them know that I’m barely learning...
I love you so much!!!! You are so sweet and your channel is clean!!!!!! Your whole family is soooo sweet!!!!!!!!!!
She’s cute in her own voice and way
I never get likes that makes me 😢 sad
I think people ask these questions because they’re curious not because they try to be mean x
It’s the way they say it sometimes, you can ask a question and be very sassy when you say it.
"x"
They can be annoying and come across as rude though so I'm glad she made this video.
I'm deaf too and I LOVE YOUR TH-cam PICTURE THEY ARE SO AMAZING and i'm 10 and I don't know why I say to ur I am 10
Antonia Bennett I'm deaf too and I'm 11 so I think we can relate to this
Omg BEST DISCOVERY EVER!
I’m also deaf but I have two cochlear implants :)
I learned sign language when I was young, before I had my first implant so I don’t remember a lot of it sadly.
I’m deaf too and people ask that question like in video I hate when they ask that question too or be rude to me because I’m deaf.
Some of these questions you shouldn’t be annoyed about their just genuen questions I can't spell :0
Sunnie Sunshine they are dumb though, because she cant hear so she cant give them a answer xx
rice I have a hard of hearing sister and she read lips when she forgets to put her hearing aid 🙃
👀 yes she can be annoyed its not her job to make hearing ppl comfortable
I only know American Sign Language so this was really interesting to pick up the signs
The title made me giggle LMAOO “Things not to *SAY* to a *DEAF* person”
As weird as it sounds, 4:15 made me smile. It reminded me of my cousin whose deaf, because she’s always grown up being so freaking good at physical comedy. She never fails to make me laugh with her skits. It’s amazing how expressive deaf people are once you get to know them.
A couple of those ‘annoying things’ are genuine questions of how would they know
