I am glad that Opel still makes low profile and somewhat utility oriented vehicles instead of ufo wannabies. I love plastic in the interior in this, easy to clean. On the top of my current consideration list for a new car purchase. Good job Opel.
It looks like the designers expended so much energy and effort in designing the rear end, that by the time they reached the front, they were too exhausted to be creative and just stuck the dull and unimaginative fascia found on all Opel models.
I guess they went that consistent look across models but I agree, something different for this car somehow somewhere at the front would’ve been appropriate
Thank you, its the first time I see it being tested properly. I ordered the hybrid version some months ago. The only thing I hate is the waiting on the delivery.
What's going on with steel wheels ?. I can imagine them in two or three years time when the rust starts to set in mixing with the white paint🤔. Takes me right back to the 1980s😂
Rust will only happen if you keep those wheel covers on... Fun fact: steel wheels are lighter than alloy wheels (that's the normal wheels, not racing). I was weighing wheels of a MEGANE 3 the other day, alloy wheels are significantly heavier.
2:18 it should be said that this car's platform can indeed fit 7 seats as is the case with the Citroen eC3 aircross in the Indian market, the lot of us in Europe have to wait at least 18 months and be told how greatful we are
The old Frontera, derived from Isuzu, was by no means a heavy-duty off-roader, but you could take it on dirt paths without any trouble. This new one is just another SUV-I wouldn’t dare take it off the tarmac. That said, I do like the painted steel wheels; those oversized alloys are just unnecessary unsprung weight.
The Frontera starts at £23,495 in the UK (€28.4K) which is fantastic value. This would have been better as two videos, I’m not remotely interested in anything with a combustion engine. As for weight, I’ve never found it an issue in a BEV, sounds like the Frontera just needs a bit more horsepower
Great review Mark, like the car looks good and a decent price in the UK. Big question on the petrol hybrid model have they replaced the rubber belt with a chain? Had the original Frontera Sport and loved it.
I still drive my 2004 Frontera B (yes, they made the B till '04) but I'm not yet tempted to trade it in for either of these... Its funny that it's ligher than the old one, that came in at 1830 kg empty! That should tell you something about build quality..😂
I used to test drive cars for NHS leasing when I was a community nurse and then write an review for the newsletter. One of those cars was the 'new' Vauxhall Frontera. They gave me one for the weekend and said please don't take it off road (like that was going to happen). This looks nothing at all like it and doesn't see to have any similarities, so I can't understand why they called it that. It's much smaller, although arguably better looking. I wasn't impressed with the original.
Excellent car. I like it. New Sister, new Frontera, new C3 Aircross, finally we are getting some excellent cars.

Digging the retro steel wheels! The hybrid looks the better drive.....
I like the way they used the original green color you had in the 1999-2001 astra

Steel wheels great for women. No alloys to ruin against kerbs.
@@EV6-GearOh dear I can see a lot of negative comments coming your way from lady drivers😂👍
@@EV6-GearI’ll attend the funeral 😂
But oh so true😂@@blb2022

Looks a lot smarter with black roof and proper alloys. A comprehensive review as always Mark!

Even the seats look like Citroen seats with the bold white stripe.
so it's a good thing , no ?
@Sevan59 Perhaps a missed opportunity to do some thing different although I'm sure it is a very competent vehicle.
Very citroenesk in appearance.Great review Mark
Citronesque
Opel is now PSA, so it's basically French...
like the steel wheels :)
And no reason why the EV can't have it too

That set with the steel wheels will grab the defender audience who can’t afford or don’t trust JLR
A good few people suggested the link alright
This demonstration of the vast difference in utility of a hybrid drivetrain verses a same priced EV shows battery technology is just not there yet.
Cheaper running costs though as Nobby said.
Why do you have Opel in Irland? When I visited the island some years ago it felt quite strange to see a RHD Opel without a Vauxhall badge. 🤔
Because they’re Opel everywhere else
@ Well, in the other RHD market in Europe they have a Vauxhall badge. But, yes there hasn’t to be any special reason for that. 🤔
@ incorrect
@@NobbyOnCars do you mean that there are/were Vauxhalls in Irland parallel to Opels? Because that would explain it. 🤔
All these new cars have the shareholders written all over them.

Same car, different powertrains, no benefit to me doing two videos I’m afraid
@NobbyOnCars fair enough, just giving you subscriber feedback. Have Merry Christmas 🎄
@ yeah just too much editing and film time on location etc - gotta pick my battles! Same to you.

They replaced it, it's chain driven now.
Chain yeah

That sounds like it was a fun job!
Retro vibes
This screams ‘rental car’ to me, they’ll lap this up rather than the funky but tiny-booted Mokka
Any hope you'll get your hand on a DS8 to review?
Not sure
Thanks for the review. Easy enough to recommend the hybrid, but the EV is cleaner of course. Maybe that was worth a mention? Maybe I missed it.
That’s an obvious one if that’s what someone wants to buy.
Really showing the cross over with the new Citroen C3 Aircross, you’d never know it was a Vauxhall without the badges.
Other than the Vauxhall fade and the Vauxhall interior.
@ Yeah interior obviously very different, but outside same car.
If I can get steel wheels and lumbar support on the same car for under €25k I could be interested. Question: is the 1.2 engine a wet belt?
It is
@ Oh right. One to avoid then
Couldn't live withh 113 hp, needs the battery in Astra
Seriously why can't the EV be had with the same base trims? Not everyone wants or needs diamond cut alloys and more expensive tyres
I'm getting Dacia vibes also.
Dacia looks a lot better in fairness!
So this is what happens when the designer from Citroën joins opel 😂
Not keen on this as it looks too soft whereas the original one looked rugged
Only thing that is bad on this car is roof antena insted of shark antena
Looks a lot smaller than the original frontera.
So another plastic generic SUV? Like all the others on the road? Another electric/hybrid washing machine with wheels?
mmh why testing always the same cars from stellantis? is ALWAYS the same car... so ALWAYS a crap.
