(RPG) Failing Successfully

Game mechanics should be adjusted to more accurately represent a character and their situation. Characters should have pros and cons for attempting and failing actions outside the size of the numbers they're applying to their dice. In a game where failure and success is reliant upon who has the biggest number then there is no incentive for players to try anything because they know they will fail.
