So Mcree and Ashe were originally both members of the deadlock gang (a criminal gang), before Mcree was ultimately recruited by Blackwatch, overwatch's clandestine branch, in exchange for him avoiding imprisonment as a result of his many crimes.
Blackwatch was led by Gabriel Reyes, who would eventually become reaper.
Mcree resented being part of Blackwatch, as in many respects they were worse than the bad guys they were supposed to be fighting. It was reaper and Blackwatch that ultimately destroyed the overwatch headquarters in a conspiracy plot, ending overwatch as an organisation (and "killing" Morrison/soldier 76). This was in large part due to blackwatch's activities coming to light.
Mcree took this chance to escape Blackwatch and became a vigilante of sorts, in an attempt to right all the wrongs he had done in his life to this point.
Ashe stayed with the deadlock gang, never really knowing what happened to Mcree after he disappeared into Blackwatch. Though the two were never officially a couple, it's heavily suggested that Ashe has had a long-standing crush on Mcree, hence the old photo of them on her bike. It's also probably why she didn't kill him on sight.

Man, I'd love it if you just went through more Blizzard content. There's a ton of great cinematics between Overwatch, Starcraft and Diablo, and especially the opening cinematics for World of Warcraft. Blizzard has gone downhill a lot, but back in the day they were the OGs of video game cinematics.
Diablo cinematics have always been amazing, even Diablo II.

Not sure if you know this, but some of the areas in the cinematics are direct maps in the game. In this one the diner is the spawn point for the attacking side, and the payload where they're loading stuff on is the objective. In the Dragons cinematic you've watched before, Hanzo goes through the whole map and ends at the final capture point.
This came out around when Echo, the ai robot Mcree frees, was released as a new playable hero.
Another super neat thing about these animations is most of them take place at in-game maps and locations. Just a nice little touch to me. As for other overwatch shorts...last bastion, rise and shine, honor and glory, infiltration, and shooting star (they are all good tbh lol)
My guess is it's Bob's hand in the photo. Also, Bob is her Ultimate... She yells, "Bob! Do something!" and he comes out and knocks people into the air and starts laying into them with his guns. I'm also guessing she has the mechanical arm parts to help support the power of her gun that she uses to knock people and herself back in game.

A lot of the lore of Overwatch is all over the place, in shorts, comics and a tiny amount in-game.
If I'm not mistaken, Deadlock is a gang that Ashe and McCree were in which I'm guessing is now run by Ashe. Bob is actually Ashe's butler (she grew up privileged), and Bob comes into play when Ashe uses her Ultimate ability.
McCree joined Overwatch, them being the good guys Ashe and him clearly had a falling out.
The white Android is called Echo and was in the OW2 video that you watched a while back. She is a shapeshifter if you couldn't tell by her name. She becomes another hero when she uses her Ulti, it's a bit overpowered.
There's actually a book out now about Ashe and the beginning of the Deadlock gang - "Deadlock Rebels". The first chapter is free on the Overwatch site.
Love your reactions to these shorts, mate. I'm a sucker for when people break shit down. Imo, the cinematic shorts are the most consistently best parts of Overwatch. The game fluctuates in quality a shit-ton, and other forms of media lack a bit sometimes, but the shorts are always fucking immaculate. I don't know if you've ever mentioned wanting to start playing the game, but if you have ever said or do want to give the game a try, I'd recommend waiting until the sequel comes out, as it'll bring a bunch of changes that'll completely change the way it's played. Granted, we haven't got a release date for it after 2 years, but oh well lol. Anyway, as I said, fantastic shit you're doing.

BOB is ashes ult, so yes, he is kinda playable in the game ( One of the best ults)

Pretty sure Ashe and Mccree never dated. They were both apart of the Deadlock gang with 2 others that mysteriously disappeared. I am pretty sure Mccree said that Ashe was never really his type.

A little thing there is that all of this locations is actual maps in game, so yes you can find his aplle pie etc during the game :D

The overwatch cinematics are all fantastic. Big fan of your interpretations of them. I would say that I think my favorite would be "Honor and Glory". It's so good and I'd love to see your take on it. Hero is also excellent and full of implied backstory which you seemed to like. Can't wait to see more.

AShe and Mccree used to be in the deadlock gang, Mccree got found by Gabriel ryes (reaper) to become a part of Blackwatch, as a spec ops thing of overwatch... thats another story, but what Mccree is.... He had a bad reputation and kinda wanted to redeem himself, so he became basically a good guy. He fought the bad deadlock gang as he knew they were about to get the treasure from the train.. (he tipped it, thats why he was there) He knew they were moving an important part (echo) which he wanted to restore with the last part.
