What’s your favorite thing that I talked about sewing this fall? I ~need~ it all, so I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, but knowing me… it’s probably the coat. 🤣
I feel seen: I love planning projects more than doing, even if I enjoy the doing. I get only a few things done and this has been true for decades. I'm quite a bit older than you and I've decided just to sink into it. Planning is fun!
Planning IS fun! It's why I do it so much! Maybe someday I'll go back through my Google Docs of "X year X season fashion ideas" and see how similar everything is and what I did and didn't ever do. 🤣
I put on quite a bit of weight since last winter when I got very sick and was bed ridden for months. Now I'm thinking of a few transition pieces until I can fit into my old clothes again. I'm starting to walk a bit and should be able to throw out my wheelchair chair and walkers b spring.
So many things are to love about this video! I love you sharing the list cycle you go through every season, I do that too because loooove lists. My dopamine spikes just thinking of all the possibilities and then I overwhelm myself with those same possibilities 🤣. It’s so nice to have a relatable, 4 season sewist that inspires! I would also love seeing any fabric you buy from over seas, it’s such a gamble and it’s a huge advantage to see you review it❤
I also need separates. I really want to make wide leg trousers and shirts for work. In fact I've been telling myself and everyone else I'm doing it for the last 3 years lol. This is the year I do it❤ love your videos and can't wait to see what you make next xxxxx
I'm most excited about the coats you have planned, but love all your videos! (I'm in Australia and so am breaking out the dress and shirt patterns down here 😊)
It sounds like my brain at the transition of every season! I'm very excited particularly about the Mrs. Maisel-inspired cotton coat and am betting you'll do something real fun with the lining. If you're ever in the Bay Area, Stonemountain & Daughter is well worth the visit!
Amazingly I hadn't eve thought about the lining yet, ack! But I'm trying to narrow down a fabric color on Instagram right now. I'd love to visit Stonemountain & Daughter someday. 🤩
You inspired me to go through my closet and take inventory of what I have and what outfits I can put together. I love 1920s style but I have a hard time tossing out things people give me. So my wardrobe is pretty chaotic.
It can be hard to get rid of things that don't work for you! I've done it a bunch but still have things that remain that I'll likely never wear. Or if I wear it once in 5 years... do I really still need it?
I have a humongous list of things I want to make but I counted and I have like 37 dresses planned and only a few separates! It’s just so much more fun to plan dresses I think. I have coats and flannel jackets planned too but dresses are just so darling after all!
I forgot you'd made that pattern! I really love the other one too and I think I'm more inclined to that for a solid-color one, but only if I find the right weight fabric since those tucks on the yoke would be weird otherwise. Someday!
Shoot! Clothes don't make themselves?! SAME HERE. I have a lot of looks that only exist in my head because most of the pieces aren't even cut out, neither pattern nor fabric. Best of luck on these plans. Oh, and pants videos might go over because the 90s screwed us over in how to make and fit pants.
Omg so relatable! Have you made Gertie’s Audrey pants before? Ponte cigarette pants are a game changer! Also is this sweater one of your patterns? It’s adorable! ❤
I have two cord fabrics and one twill that I want to sew up for fall/winter/early spring. I am thinking of batch sewing as it will be the same pattern except on pair will be the view b while the others view a. It would be nice to see your batch sewing process. Like your coat and jacket ideas. My fav fabric stores and Canadian: blackbird fabrics and core fabrics.
I am enjoying In House Pattern Studio's fall wardrobe planning Aug videos and follow on info - I have 1 flannel full skirt almost made, and a 1970s pattern adjusted and the fabric corvette wearable muslin cut out. So making progress!
3:49 I love stretch cords! I bought a whole bolt of it in black a few years ago and have two pairs I wear all the time in winter. Gonna have to check out the colors on Minerva. I got some stretch cotton canvas from them a few months ago which is my favorite for summer weight.
Oh I’m so glad you admitted to this. I too make lists and then search for fabric and then say well that’s dealt with…. And then I don’t get to it! This year I will try to be better!! Oh and love the fabrics they look really nice.
I contemplated corduroy for the coat, but ultimately I’m a little worried with that shape it might end up looking 70s in corduroy. Interestingly you see so few 50s coats in cord, but it’s a recommended fabric in at least a few of my vintage coat patterns. But I also haven’t bought the fabric yet so there’s still time to change my mind. 😆
@@nadia.lewis. I’m most likely either thinking turquoise or, slightly unusual for me, a cranberry color that I think would look really nice with a pair of icey blue gloves I’m knitting. Maybe I’ll use the cranberry for the velour and revisit in corduroy for turquoise sometime. Can’t decide!
Lovely video. Looking forward to seeing you are some more and sharing your insights. I'm interested in batch sewing because I too need to make quite a few things. Batch sewing intimidates me a bit though because I am fairly certain that I'm going to mix something up and maybe skip a step. Any suggestions?
What’s your favorite thing that I talked about sewing this fall? I ~need~ it all, so I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, but knowing me… it’s probably the coat. 🤣
I really like that rusty orange stretch velvet! But to be fair, pumpkin vomit is one of my favorite colors.
Okay pumpkin vomit is a hilarious name for it!! 😂
That’s me planning and wishing all the things magically appear or too many ideas to select one to start on lol

Transition pieces sound like a great idea. Best of luck on your continued healing.
@@tashacouldmakethat thank you.

And I must say what is the first thing I started to sew after making this video? A dress. 🤣
10:24 I’ve made the 7400 a bunch of times and love it! I still need to make the other one, it’s been sitting in my pattern stash for years.

Thanks! I keep thinking I’ll wake up and they’ll have made themselves but alas. 🤣

ha ha
I totally understand the struggle Tasha! I need more basic pieces in my wardrobe but I'm never excited to shop for basic pieces
Basics are so necessary and so boring!!
Omg so relatable! Have you made Gertie’s Audrey pants before? Ponte cigarette pants are a game changer! Also is this sweater one of your patterns? It’s adorable! ❤
Not yet but I’ve been wanting to! I had a window open for weeks with the recommended ponte she used for one of the pairs. See… this video. 🤣🤣

I'm a big fan of Core Fabrics in Canada too! And they ship from NY for my US orders.
Your videos are so much fun to watch. You are so talented and creative!!!
Thank you so much!

I love flannel skirts and dresses in winter!! Just need more companies to make good prints in them.

Ha ha "and then say well that’s dealt with" I can so relate. And thanks!
Hi, thank you so much for a lovely video. Your cardigan is gorgeous. Need to get my plans together for the winter now.
Thanks! I imagine some of these plans will spill into winter (and spring) too but I’m looking forward to getting started.
Why not a corduroy coat? BlackBirdFabrics just got new wide wale corduroy in! :)
I contemplated corduroy for the coat, but ultimately I’m a little worried with that shape it might end up looking 70s in corduroy. @@tashacouldmakethat yeah, autumn colours would likely read 70s, whereas more winter colours might read more 50s: rust vs red, for example.

Thanks! I’ve never actually batch sewed anything yet! So just an idea I’ve been contemplating.
I absolutely love your outfit, can I easily get a pattern for the cardigan?
Birdy
I linked the pattern in the description. 😊
I'm just stuck on, "Well, why *can't* clothes just make themselves?!" A smashing idea. Can you work on a YT channel for that?
I know right?! Haven’t mastered it yet. 🤣
Off topic, but I assume you made the dress you are wearing? Would you please share the pattern name ?
