    Hi Andy, as usual a better review than most sites, if i didn´t miss something you forgot the new oil radiator, i mention it because i,ve always thought that working temperature range is too wide in this bikes (unlike the cars) maybe others too, but riding at 65 cº increases fuel consumption, maybe they improved that with and oil radiator, that would be an improvement.

    Great review Andy! I’m sticking with my 2022. I really like the bike and I have actually become much better with the quick shifter and the cruise control disengagement. I just add a slight amount of throttle before turning off the cruise control and it then disengages smoothly.

    Thanks for the good test. I was deciding between the Versys1000 and the Versys 1100 and the GSX-S1000 GX. A few days ago I bought a new one without QS (I don't like it and don't need it on this type of motorcycle) - a sold-out Versys 1000 with a 20% discount and a 4-year warranty. I look forward to more tests and information👍

      Thanks and happy new year. Quickshifter is primarily software that is adapted to the capabilities of the engine and gearbox. Quickshifter is not a pair of shoes that you can put on when you get bored with the current ones, which is why I don't think it's possible. Cheers

      Thanks Paul, I think that change of the brake discs has a lot to do with the problems with the warping issue brake discs, the new discs are exactly the same size so it has little to do with the new engine performance I think.

    One of the best explanation videos I've seen between the old and new versys. I won't be changing my 3rd gen 2019, I've had it remapped on my mates Dyno after I'd de-catted it and put 4 long inlets inside the airbox, it's strange how Kawasaki has now done the airbox mod. Mine is now putting out the same bhp as the 1100 and is only slightly down on torque. I've removed the quickshifter soon after I bought the bike, I didn't like the spongy feeling and I've seen a few damaged gearbox's that have quickshifters fitted. I fitted the gear rod linkage from the none quickshifter model. I think the only thing that would tempt me to get a new one is if it had self lowering suspension like the Harley Pan America or triumph 1200 tiger. I have lowered mine but I've sometimes to be careful when riding twisty roads I don't catch the footrests on the road but I have to be going very quick to do that. Keep up the good videos and ride safe my friend.

    I think the new app will also have voice activated sat nav which is a good as there is currently no sat nav at all. You have to pay a fee though. I generally don't use the KQS, only for the occasional sporty riding up in the revs, but it would be nice to use it at lower revs for sure. Great video, thanks! 👍🏼

    Good review as always, clear and to the point. My Versys 1000 is slightly tuned and the quick shifter is turned off, I find this works fine for me. The Suzuki is a nice bike , lots of power on paper but only feels slightly faster in reality. I found it very uncomfortable as it just didn't fit me and the build quality was very poor, I hate to say this but a recent test on the R1250RS and R left me very happy with the engine and the build quality, the biggest downside is the agricultural gearbox. As you say...no bike is perfect. Ride safe. :)

    Discussion with my dealer suggests that to change to the 1100 from my 2020 1000 SE GT with 16,000 miles will likely cost upwards of £10,000. Just doesn’t seem worth it, but I await a test ride in the new year.
    PS I agree with you re the RIDEOLOGY app, I never use it
    PPS I can’t understand your criticism of the QS on the 1000. I love mine, use it all the time. But of course, always as instructed in the owners manual ie above 2500 rpm and with a closed throttle when downshifting. I wonder did you follow these instructions, especially during the first 1000 miles?
    Great review, thanks!

    • @MotoAndy

      Hi thanks, yes, your right, test it first ... Well, the problem with the quickshifter is that, as you mentioned, you have to change gears above 2500rpm, which is idiotic to me in a motorcycle that has such a flexible engine that you can start from 6th gear. The second problem is its inaccuracy - if you push the lever too lightly, it can fall into the space between the gears, which is very painful for the owners ears, believe me. Yes I do downshift with closed throttle.
      Of course, everyone rides differently, so for one person the quickshifter is great, for another it doesn't work as it should (according to his opinion). So let's end by saying - agree to disagree...take care, cheers.

    • @josephlarmor550

      @ I apologise for prolonging the discussion! But it seems to me that a lot of people expect a QS to function like the auto gearbox in a car. But the QS technology came to us from bike racing, where it was designed for quick up and down shifting at high rpm and under hard acceleration and deceleration. So I use mine on country roads for overtaking and on the twisties, never in town, and it works very well.
      Anyone who wants a fully auto bike should buy a Gold Wing with DCT, or a scooter!
      I have heard of bikes being damaged by inappropriate use of the QS, particularly at low rpm and low speeds. So it pays to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. This doesn’t just apply to Kawasaki!
      Happy riding

    • @MotoAndy

      Comments are for commenting, discussing and exchanging opinions, so you're not prolonging anything, I'm glad that there is so much interest in this topic, and as long as it's civilized I'll gladly join the argument.🙂. In the Versys 1100 QS works (allegedly) at 1500 rpm... so it can be done!
      I'm very curious if it will be better, I clearly have to go for a test ride 😁 and you are right, a motorcycle should be used as recommended by the manufacturer, which does not mean that everything works as it should, there are no perfect motorcycles🤔

    Excellent video! Can you describe how the Versys 1000 SE compares to the Tracer 9 GT? Does anyone watching and reading care to describe how these bikes compare? Thanks!

    • @MotoAndy

      Hi. maybe the reason why no one compares the Tracer with the Versys is because they are two very different motorcycles. I changed from Tracer 900 to Versys 1000 because of comfort, Tracer is a very nice motorcycle, agile and fast, fun to ride, good brakes, but it does not compare to the comfort of Versys. Tracer is more of a motorcycle for everyday riding and is not particularly suitable for long journeys. I drove Tracer on long journeys and they were not comfortable. I sold Tracer after 8 months of use. Here I am 7 years and two Versys later and I don't regret this choice. Maybe one day I will make video and I will compare these two motorcycles. We`ll se, cheers

    Andy I find my 2021 versys1000s is more than adequate for touring/commuting, however when fully loaded, she is very top heavy, so next year maybe the 650 would be an option and not the 1100 or even another manufacturer 😱

    • @MotoAndy

      There is no such thing as a perfect motorcycle, the issue is to choose the right motorcycle for the rider, some people can ride a 300kg motorcycle well, others will feel much better with a 180kg motorcycle. I am also looking for motorcycles from other manufacturers and I will want to compare and try to find something better for me than Versys, will I succeed? time will tell

    If the only difference in the quickshifter is software, wouldn't it be possible to get this software to run on a the 1000 version? I find the quickshifter as it is on my 2022, not very usefull in low rpm and therefor i actually never use it.

    • @MotoAndy

      Reprogramming the quickshifter itself is only half the battle, as I mentioned in the video, the new Versys has different gear ratios and this is quite important

    • @desus007

      @MotoAndy I thought all the quick shifter did was interrupt the throttle electronically for a split second. 🤔, The actual mechanical gear shifting is stil manually,, maybe I should say footally😁. Or does the quick shifter also do something mechanically?

    • @MotoAndy

      of course, the quickshifter is an electronic operation, but I don't know if it is possible to adapt the quickshifter, reprogrammed to lower speeds, to the Versys 1000 gearbox, the gear ratios are quite important and I have the impression that the gearbox might not be able to withstand it (or the engine). Well, I'm not a gearbox expert, so these are just my thoughts.

    • @technoaddict2056

      @@MotoAndy You are right, the gear ratio is very important for the quickshifter to work right, as the period the fire is cut during shifting is depending on a « mapping table »: Load vs Speed vs RPM vs Gear. On mine, I did change the sprockets ratio a tiny bit, but it‘s enough to make the quickshifter acting weird and/or unpredictable, so I am not using anymore to prevent damages to the transmission.
