- China has built many amazing infrastructure megaprojects in the last few years.
Travel across the country and you will see entire megacities popping up out of seemingly nowhere, connected by high-speed rail and epic highways.
But here in Shenzhen, the planners have turned their attention underground. The Gangxia metro station is a subway hub unlike any I have ever seen before.
It is bright, airy and cathedral-like, and, as we discover in this video, it has some pretty unusual features.

At first, it seems hilarious that there are "tourists" taking pictures in a metro station. Then on second thought, why not? It's a feat to have such clean, safe, modern looking and well functional design. Who won't want to enjoy it given a chance. It's only a pity that other people don't have this choice in their own country.
The individualistic societies of the West will fall because people don't care about each other, they are self-centered! China is a 5,000-year-old civilization with a collective consciousness and goals painted for a hundred years of development ahead, where an individual is nothing, only a community of people who can survive and achieve results together is important

There's another modern station just built in Shenzhen, the Dameisha Station
3:43 it also helped prevent people from jumping into the track or pushing by strangers. NYC every year many people die because of it.

Yes I was there a week ago to change to a different line. it caught me by complete surprise. Its by far the most impressive subway station I've ever seen. its an absolute design and engineering marvel.

I have been to china many times and many big cities small cities and town every kind of infrastructure is modern and superb and very clean . Chinese are very hard working and smart of doing things.

Wow the infrastructure looks amazing, streets are clean and it seems so safe. Meanwhile in America, a 65yo grandfather got shot dead in the NYC subway today after an argumebt over loud music and an average of 160 children per month are sent to hospitals for gun injuries. That's freedom for ya 😢

I hear ya! I told the liquor store owner here in my neighborhood in the US that he looked half Chinese and half Indian (He is from Nepal). He wasn’t happy and thought it was an insult since he didn’t want anything to do with Indians or India! He told me: “Please don’t say I look like an Indian, Chinese is okay, but not Indian!”😝😂 He said India stole a lot of land from his country and bullies his country all the time!

Gangxia North station is the most impressive subway stations I visit.
There is no doubt about it, China is the most modern advanced nation of all.

I think in terms of infrastructure spending and high end urban areas, china is the top nation. Income level and all that will improve in time. China spends a large chunk of its cash on education. I believe this will give them the edge in a couple of decades.
I love the metro in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, they are clean , efficient and the fares are cheap.
When I was at a Chinese subway I was awe-struck by its beauty and architecture wonders! When I was at NYC subway I was awe-struck by the filth and the smells of human feces and urine that made me vomit!

I live near there. There are some great fast food and shops there and it connects to One Avenue elite shopping mall, which then itself connects to the convention centre.
The American would say without live rats and graffiti this cannot be qualified as a subway while the British would dismiss it as an underground for having no time-proven rivet, cast iron column/beam and brick! In any way its fare is too cheap so it is not in the same league as the expensive western transportation system that should be decorated with trash indicating civilisation. It should have some homeless people but no air conditioning or phone signal if it wants to be as famous as the western systems.

Shenzhen is the technology hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area. (I think they need a shorter English name). GDP is about the same as Texas in between New York State and California. Shenzhen City GDP alone is larger than that of the country of Vietnam, population of 18 million vs 98 million.

maybe the fact that you rarely find a bench to sit is that, one of the most heard saying, the metro manager think that if too many bench are served inside the station, their will be too many people stay inside the station, which easily cause traffic jam because the Gangxia north station is very busy and it’s a interchangeable station.

@3:40 - also note the incoming/outgoing speeds of the trains are very fast ( to maximize train frequency during rush hours). The tunnels shield you from the wind bursts.
