Go for it. Tekken 8 is a very fun fighting game. I doubt Akuma will be back but they might have a fun character that you may find interesting or fun.

Yes! YES! Fuck the rank! YOUR SKILLS are what define you as a player not the color of your rank. I can't tell you how satisfying it is to get novel length messages from higher rank players accusing me of using a cheat.

Of course I'm not saying that working towards a higher rank is bad, just like you said don't get hung up on a color when more than likely you probably deserve to be there for a hot minute before your skills improve.
