@@kenmasters4219The narrative of “take the revenue” is a very misguided mindset. Yes obviously as a business like any other their priority is to make a profit though to effectively do so requires a LOT of the revenue they make to be put back into the local area. As someone from the UK who visits Orlando at least once per year, this is the announcement I'm waiting for. If this goes ahead it's a win for the UK economy and work force, the Universal Parks and of course us enthusiasts. I totally think this is kick Merlin have needed for years too. Monopolies make companies lazy and greedy, hopefully this changes things.
I am so hyped for this project! My only concern however would be the UK weather, as the weather in places like Florida makes the theme park a much more enjoyable experience.
I'd like to wish you and Charlotte a very wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year as this time next year you'll both have a new edition to celebrate Christmas as I'm sureit will feel morespecial from then on.
This would be great for the UK, we need another big theme park company in the UK from Merlin, they’ve had no competition for ages. This would benefit Merlin, Universal, and the UK’s tourism and theme park industry massively.
I am in my final year studying civil engineering and project management in the UK - working on such a huge project like this as a theme park fanatic would be a dream !
The other sign things are progressing is the fact that someone is buying up all the properties in Manor Rd, which is the road that runs through the site!
excellent news Shawn on Universal Destinations & Experiences had purchased land in the UK. Merry Christmas Shawn and Charlotte, and to both of your families as well. and keep the good videos coming on the channel, Shawn, and Merry Christmas. 😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎄🎄
Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year @themeparkworldwide We've met a few times at the parks, and you've always been lovely to our kids. This time next year you'll be enjoying your first festive period as parents 😊
Merry Christmas to you both! Me and my mates are so excited for a Universal park in the UK I hope it pushes Alton Towers and Thorpe Park to be more innovative in many ways (especially Scare Mazes!) and increase ride availability! 🙏🙏
It boggles my mind the amount of legwork and financial capital Universal has put in to even get to this point. Land surveying, traffic studies, economic studies, not to mention purchasing that much land. I really do think no news is good news when it’s come this far. When negotiations are going good or in good faith, no leaks happen. As a side note: We are starting to get television advertisements here played nationally in the States for Epic Universe and I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited for a park.
Merry Christmas mate, hopefully I’m going to get a ticket to go to Alton towers for the first time. Also on plan co 2 I made the UK’s new tallest, fastest and highest inverting coaster!
Can’t wait for this looking forward to seeing what worlds will be in it like Harry Potter, possibly HTTYD and be interesting to see what else will be in it.
If they build it and it’s anything like what epic universe looks like it will be special and all the other U.K. parks will have to raise their game imo
Hi Sean. A Special Development Order is needed and Universal have to submit the equivalent of a planning application to the government for this. There is no way construction will start in 2025 as it can take up to a year before it is approved.
We do hope this goes ahead, Universal are just amazing and having a full theme park and resort in this county would be amazing ! No need to get on a plane to experience universal. I hope they get on with it, I ve loved theme parks ever since I went to Alton Towers to ride their new ride back in 1980, The Corkscrew 🤩when I was 12 , went on the blade too 😍. I will be 61 by the time it opens so if the body can take it we will be regular visitors and our granddaughters will be 6 and 8 by then 😍😍. If this was Disney I would be half as excited and expecting them to cancel the project last minute 😒. Great update Shaun looking forward to updates on the progress 🧱🧱🧱🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I just really hope this new government can fully support this, see the economic benefit and the long term gains. I worry because they are hell bent on raising money through taxes that it could be a bit of a political nightmare for them to be seen to be giving universal a tax break… even if it’s well justified! Fingers crossed! One question I would be interested in is: Have universal ever purchased land like this in other parts of the world and gone to the consultation phase before? Has this ever gone south at this stage or are we already too far down the line?
@pugheadxsi Good question but it is because if we don't, another country will. Essentially governments end up effectively bidding for the business. The wealth created locally and future tax revenue if built will be significantly greater than the zero the UK would receive if Universal build elsewhere.
I saw a post on my Facebook timeline saying a senior imaginer at disneyland who worked on crushs coaster etc has now joined the universal UK project team. Could mean something
We likely won't hear much from them until the next financial year in the UK (5th/6th April) since Universal would likely need to know what the current government plans are for fiscal policies.

An article came out today saying that east west rail was involved in the government consultations and their part was about altering the amount of trains to the (possible) dedicated universal train station. There are one of two stations they could rename also the east west rail company said that they will happily be involved for the next phase of public consultation which is due for the new year, so it’s still in the air folks and Merlin will fight hard to prevent this like they have before
