    Good and important question. Understand why this sort of question is in the minds and on the hearts of Christians right now. Thoughtful and Biblical. Thanks again Pastor John and Tony.

    Funerals are to comfort those left behind....
    1 Thess :4:13-18
    But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.........
    ... 18:Therefore, comfort one another with these words..

    Dear Pastor John, on April 15th, 2024 I heard you on Family Radio the Question and Answers on how to train a child and how to help them to listen to parents and you gave a few steps, would you be able to post that on this Desiring God Channel. I left work today wondering how I am go to teach my 15 years old son to listen to my request. I yelled at him and demand him to listen most of the time. The minute I turn on the radio to Family Radio and there -------> you are teaching on this topic. I said - oh Lord , thank you for teaching me!

    “My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech, who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.”

    I think the better question is this,

      @benjaminsmith2000 No. Salvation is faith in Christ alone, and building a relationship with him.

    • @a.syching678
      @a.syching678 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lukethiazzi_ this is lacking, salvation is by GRACE through FAITH! Salvation cannot be attained because of our faith, it is a gift of God, we only need to accept this gift though faith and you don't need to do anything else.

    • @lukethiazzi_
      @lukethiazzi_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @a.syching678 Faith, undoubtedly, saves. That wasn't my point, my point was, what do we believe in God for? You put it into perspective, and you'll realize not many Christians believe in the real God, but a boxed version of what they have been told. Let alone have a relationship with him...
      Very few will enter heaven because of this reason. Most will proclaim they did good works, but they will be denied. It is by the belief in Jesus' gift to us, a sacrifice, that we can be saved.

    • @lukethiazzi_
      @lukethiazzi_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @a.syching678 And. Even then, what makes you think that salvation is the end? It is merely the beginning of God's powerful plan. Not many will see that, and they will crumble because of this...

      @AssuranceOFSalvation1981 Expecting God to make the same exception for you that He made for others is erroneous. He will have mercy on whom He will. He also told plenty of parables where the characters thought He was unfair. Don’t assume the thief on the cross and you had the same amount of knowledge and were raised in the same circumstances.

What if the true God wants people to reject all the false religions of the world so much that he would rather they be atheists than believe in the wrong message? Genesis 30:14-18
      "14 In the day of wheat harvest Reuben went and found mandrakes in the field and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, " Please give me some of your son's mandrakes." 15 But she ( Leah) said to her ( Rachel),
      " It is a small matter that you have taken away my husband?
      Would you take away my son's mandrakes also? Rachel said,
      " Then he may lie with you tonight in exchange for your son's mandrakes."
      16 When Jacob(😊❤) came from the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him and said,
      " You must come in to me, for I have hired you with my son's mandrakes."
      So he lay with her that night.
      17 And God(😊100%❤) listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son.
      18 Leah said, " God has given me my wages because I gave my servant to my husband." So she called his name Issachar."( Genesis 30:14-18 ESV Study Bible)
      In Genesis 30:14-16,
      " These verses, which recount Leah's conception of Issachar, high light the intensity of the dispute between the two sisters( Leah and Rachel).
      On this occation Leah buys from Rachel the right to lie with Jacob. Having agree to this with her sister, she says to Jacob, "... I have hired you with my son's mandrakes."( Genesis 30:17b or middle of the verse ESV Study Bible). " I have hired you with my son's mandrakes"( Genesis 30:16 middle of the verse)
      The Hebrew term translated here as " mandrakes
      ( duda' im, possibly "love fruits") is usually understood to demote the plant mandragora officinarum, a species long regardes as having unusal properties.
      Unfortunately , no explanation is given as to why Racheln is eager to have these mandrakes; the context suggests that she may have viewed the plant(mandragora officinarum) as increasing female fertility. This and other proposals, however, must be treated with caution."( ESV Study Bible)

      Genesis 30:25-43(Jacob's prosperity)
      "25 As soon as Rachel has born Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, " Send me away, that I may go to my own home and country.
      26 Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, that I may go, for you know that service that I have given you."
      27But Laban said to him,

      28 Name your wages, and I will give it."
      29 Jacob😊❤ said to him,

      30 For( because) you had little before I came, and it has increased abundantly😊❤ , and the LORD( the Lord God😊100%❤) has blessed you wherever I turned. But now when shall I provide for my own household also? "
      31 He said, " What shall I give you?" Jacob😊❤ said, " You shall not me anything.
      If you will do this for me, I will again pasture your flock and keep it.
      32 let me pass through all your flock today, removing from it every speckled and spotted sheep and every black lamb( starting thinking of Jesus😊1st❤ the Lamb of God( John 1:29) who was Jew), and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and they shall be my wages.

      )
      , if found with me, shall be counted stolen."
      34 Laban said, " Good ! Let it be as you have said."
      35 But that day Laban removed the male goats that were stripped and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white on it, and every lamb that was black, and put them in charge of his sons.

      31 I myself did not know him, but😊❤ for( because) this purpose😊❤ I came baptizing with water, that he(Jesus😊1st❤) might be 😊❤

      @@BENJAMINJAMESSMITH2000 the removal of dirt with water does not save anyone, but the pledge of good conscience toward God does (see 1 Peter 3:21). Water Baptism symbolizes that pledge after you already made it.
      According to Romans 10:9-10 an inward belief in Jesus and an outward expression that proves a genuine belief is all that is required for salvation.
      According to Hebrews 11:5-6, belief that God exists, believing that He will reward us if we seek Him, and then drawing near to Him (acting on that belief in a trusting faith that He will save us) is the simplest set of instructions for salvation.
      All that is required is faith (or trust) in Jesus for salvation. And you can know that your faith is right when you start obeying God’s commands (1 John 2:3).

    In a sense, i think the answer could have been angled differently. The question & amswer seem to be angled towards a wholistic bible beliefs for the external person to see, as a testimony that i was saved. Truth is, i can be saved and have a poor testimony. Not ideal, but true. The fundamental belief to be saved is that you are a sinner who needs God to save you. God said if you believe in Jesus Christ you will not perish but have eternal life. If a person does not embrace the belief that he or she is a sinner, then they will most likely never get saved. Similarly, if a person embraces being a sinner but believes they can be saved apart from Jesus Christ's redemptive work then they will probably not be saved. After salvation, you should know Jesus Christ is God, and you should know you have eternal life. Point is there are errors in belief that would suggest that you might not be saved (if they dont change), like believing in a different saviour. Never the less, it should matter little what people say at your funeral. Rather your heart should focus on knowing the Lord Jesus deeper & deeper since we will be around Him for eternity & we want to start please Him from now. which Son doesnt want to please his Father. which servant doesnt want to please his Master.

Assuming yes, then would you also agree that in Acts chapter 2, Peter is talking to Israelites while in Acts chapter 10, Peter is talking to Cornelius, a gentile? Therefore, initially, Jews had to repent & be baptized to get the holy ghost. On the other hand, gentiles had to hear the gospel and (believe) trust in it. Ultimately, the promise is eternal life through the eternal Spirit. So water baptism is not necessary for a gentile. Read also Acts 19:1-6 & 1 Cor 1:14-17

      They are Godly pleasures that allow us to glorify Him through the pleasures. I would assume so we don't have a boring life. For instance, marriage; there are two ways to live out a marriage, in Christ or in sin. I prefer the pleasure of a Godly marriage. I play softball. And it's a pleasure. I used to play it in a sinful way full of arrogance and words that hurt my teammates. Then through God's mercy and grace I now use words that uplift, I give him the glory for my talents, when I make a good play and use that territory of influence to speak about the gospel. And show fruits of God's saving grave and faith I live in Christ. Hope that helps. God bless you.

      @KevinKurzsartdisplay in following God, we can check the things we do, and we can see how God changes our entire view. God did not come just so you can lose this life. No, God came to fix you, so that you may know him, and have faith on his glory. Nowhere in the bible, does it ever state, that man shall abandon everything good in his life for God...no, if anything, it says quite the opposite. You surrender what you do to God, that you may always stick close in what is good. Whether it's from this life, or the next.
      PHILIPPIANS 4:8
      "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things."
      God has given us the ability to love, to feel, to desire, to act, and so on and so forth. These are GIFTS OF GOD. You cannot kill what God has given you. Hyperfocusing on what faith is, rather than trusting in Jesus, and his actions, shows my friend, you have the view wrong. God never came to restrict, but to fix us of our brokenness, that we may glorify him in this life. You can give praise to God for giving you what you enjoy, if it is biblical. Everything you do, BECAUSE YOU STAND ON JESUS FOUNDATION, can glorify God. It's your choice to make that step though. Faith in Christ alone is what saves us, however, salvation is merely the beginning of the walk with God. Think on it.
      If you are willing to give up, and surrender everything under God, then why is it bad to still enjoy these GODLY GIFTS that you surrender to him, so that you may remain faithful? For example, music is my passion, God reached to me through music, and I use that ability and hobby to glorify God. How is that a bad thing? It's not about restrictions, it's about checking what you do, and getting rid of what God asks you to sacrifice. Stay close to his word, and you will see what he is asking of you. There is no such thing as a "professional christian", only people on different walks with God. Have faith in what Jesus did for you, and build a relationship with him. Then you will see what God asks of you. Stay blessed friend, God loves you.

    • @lukethiazzi_
      @lukethiazzi_ 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      God can reach us through our blessings and pleasures. Our Faith in God is rewarded, for God changes our lives entirely. Rather then coming to break the law, or restricting what we do, Jesus came to draw a sword. To make clear what is and isn't good. Your salvation depends on faith in God, faith in Christ, and what he did for us, rather then what we enjoy in life. Stick close to Jesus, and build a relationship. The holy spirit will convict you of what does, and doesn't need to go, for example, music is my passion, and God reached me through that. I can either use that gift in a biblical, or a non-biblical way. I choose to use it biblically. God transforms us through our lives, by what we like, so that all we do, can glorify God. The mission isn't to hyperfocus on what is and isn't, for if it's not from the bible, it is not from God. The mission is to stand close to Jesus, and build a relationship with him. I have sacrificed many interests in my life for him, through the holy spirits conviction, like gaming for instance. Everyone's case is going to be different, and God will lead us in the right direction, have faith on that. Salvation is just the very beginning of the walk with God. You walk BECAUSE you are saved.
