I read his autobiography many years ago. He has been performing from the time he could speak. When he first started singing he would emulate great singers of the time. He was so good at it that people told him he should just sing like himself because he was such a great singer. And as they say, the rest is history. Sammy was a true triple threat. Not only was he a fine actor but he was also a great singer and one of the best tap dancers ever. He endured an enormous amount of racism, especially when he married May Britt who was white. Sammy and Frank Sinatra were very close. Frank was always there for him. Frank was there for him after his accident when Sammy was unsure about returning to the stage with an eye patch. And he was at his wedding to May Britt when many of his fans were not pleased by it. Sammy Davis Jr. is simply one of the greatest entertainers of all time. 🙂
He truly was amazing. Funny memory: the time he guest-starred on "All in the Family." I believe he had left a briefcase or a coat behind in Archie's cab and came to retrieve it. Edith knew right away who he was and was all excited and Archie knew two, but of course now there's a Black Jewish man in his how and LOL you know how that went.
@@DarlingReacts I remember seeing that episode when it came out. Very controversial at the time. I like your content. I have a thing about not subscribing to TH-cam channels but you are the first one I am subscribing to. I think this kind of content should be supported. One suggestion for you. When I was a child, I was a huge fan of Shirley Temple. I watched "The Shirley Temple Theater" every Sunday morning. A local station would play a Shirley Temple movie every Sunday morning. I must have watched every one of her movies at least a dozen or more times. My favorite scene from her movies is one I would like to suggest. You can find it on TH-cam under the title of "Shirley Temple Military Man From Poor Little Rich Girl 1936". It is her tap dancing with Jack Haley and Alice Faye. I am sure you will love it! 🙂
Cool! Thanks for the recommendation. My grandmother, raising my mom in the '30s, loved Shirley Temple, considered the ideal of cute girls, and decades later used to do my hair up in those bouncy curls. If you look, I have already reacted to one Shirley Temple song, "Animal Crackers in My Soup" -- th-cam.com/video/tILnHzd7e1Q/w-d-xo.html .
I loved seeing a reaction to a new Sammy Davis song. It would be fun to see you react to The Rhythm of Life - Sammy Davis Jr from Sweet Charity or Sammy Davis jr gotta lotta livin to do
This is wonderful, wasn't aware of its existence. The melody is identical to My kind of Town (Chicago is) - Music by Jimmy van Heusen and lyrics by Sammy Cahn. It's almost a certainty that Sammy Cahn rewrote the lyrics for Sammy. Cahn used to supply 'special material' to order. The most famous example of Cahn rewriting the lyrics of a song is Sinatra's High Hopes which was repurposed as a JFK election jingle. th-cam.com/video/lHRTCVwSKMs/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for the recommendations. There must be video from the Broadway and stage shows he did.
