You got out just before Vietnam, I’m assuming that there wasn’t IRR back then? Good piece on Man Bun Lee.

Mauriello? Is his kid on the job? There was a CPT or a DI that got jammed up, either for steroids or EDP'ing a cop with the same last name.

No kids became Cops. Simply another Mauriello with Italy roots. I do not have any Mauriello relatives on the job.

Neil speaks the truth 100% on everything he said, Neil & Phil stopped us many times on Mott st. Hands on the wall pat us down none of us was stupid enough to carry on the st. I have to said at the time ofcourse we didn’t like it but now thinking back he was just doing his job and was respectful to us, I remember that cold case from pagoda theater shooting death of Yam he wasn’t even in a gang tho he looked the part I knew the guy from the neighborhood everyone in the neighborhood used to play basketball in the PS2 school yard they caught the guy years later he was a FD the female cop who nailed him on the cold case also grew up in the same neighborhood she was the same age as all of us so she knew about case, I truly believe she knew who the killer was and looked into years later when she became a P.O and made the arrest, and the sparerib hit was a power struggle within the gang

Spare Rib case was not a power struggle within the gang. I met that female Det a few times and she is a great investigator. I was inside the Pagoda theater when the shooting happened and the case was solved about 20 years later.

@rutgershouses How are you doing buddy? Are we talking about Yam (aka Live Chicken.... has a younger brother named Yam too). If so, he was with the GS or hung out with them, If I recall, his guys jumped his cousin in the basketball court in PS2 and then to get protection, his cousin asked the FD to start hanging around ISS (Henry Street) and hence, FD expanded to Henry street from Bowery street (used to hang in the silver palace and HSF) and recruited a lot of the younger crew. That was around the 1976 timeframe.

@@duanereade123 In the mid 70's, Chinatown is not big. Everybody knows everybody. PS 1, PS2, JHS 65 and JHS 56 were the breeding ground for gang recruitment. So all the gang goes to the same area and everybody sees and knows everybody. I am sure you attended one of these schools. I know Yam and his cousin from PS2 area.
