  • As the nephew of Jim Kelly, Chad Kelly had a ton of hype as a football player and he lived up to it coming out of high school. Sadly he became known as a hothead and the most arrogant QB in the country and he got into a ton of trouble and almost never had a career. Luckily he saved it all at Ole Miss and became a star and even made it to the NFL. Today we will talk about his rise, all the trouble he got in, his Rebels career and what went wrong for him, enjoy!

Please do a video on Pat Mcafee. He’s got an awesome back story. This dude grew up playing soccer, wanted to go to a kicking camp in Florida, his parents didn’t have the money so he borrowed $100 from a friend played in an illegal underground poker tournament, won $1400, bought him and his dad tickets to Florida, showed out at the kicking camp then the next day at school the coaches from West Virginia showed up and offered him a scholarship to kick for them and the rest is history.

He was a freak athlete and had a hell of a work ethic on the field and in the weight room. He was really a fun player to watch because he always had the X factor that could put 6 on the board in a moments notice. I still wish the best for him.

Nice video Scott. Been watching Chad Kelly. He is intense! Both in in interviews and playing. Fierce. in CFL, 5-0 with the Toronto Argos right now in the CFL. Toronto has not been 5-0 since 1960. Going for 6-0 this Saturday, not done since 1935. He has a cannon for an arm when he throws. Truly an exciting player to watch. It got me back into watching CFL football. I haven't missed a game.

@Bigfriendly15 Chad Kelly reminds me of old Spencer Rattler. Spencer attitude and comments, his big head,
really do him wrong. His parents did not seem to help him. Rattler
needs to be more humble. His attitude on Netflix was awful. I could tell he was not a good person,
thought too much about himself and not enough about his teammates and his team.

I played for one of Chad Kelly’s rival high schools when his brother Casey was the then QB for St. Joe’s. Early in the game we had a slight lead, and there was a late hit on Casey out of bounds which erupted into a bench clearing fight. Chad, who was in attendance of the game, stormed the field to join the fight and had to be restrained by his old coaches. The fight became so bad the ultimately called the game a double forfeit, with both teams having several players suspended.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’m still rooting for the guy. Hope he can put it all together and dedicate everything to football.

Man please bro. Do Tyrone Prothro . Can't believe no one has done a video on this dude yet... It's unbelievable.. he was known for making a catch behind a players back .
Dude was Alabamas star player in 04 when alabamas starting QB got season ending injury. Alabama had no qb . It was awful. Literally Prothro was bamas entire offense . A wide receiver who was not even 6 foot . The next season in 05. Bama had starting QB back , and was undefeated. At 5-0 Alabama was ranked like 21st and played 5-0 Florida who was ranked 5 . Prothro who was being talked about for Heisman , had his best game of his career as Alabama was up 31-3 against Florida . 3 of those touchdowns came from Prothro! Well he was literally open in the end zone again making another touchdown catch ... Which he dropped cause his leg snapped in half at the mid calf area. It was literally flopping . The best game of his career turned into his last football game he ever played . He never played a single snap again on any team.

Been a Rebel fan for 50 years. I was very young when Archie was at Ole Miss, but I've watched every other Rebel QB closely. I played QB in HS, and I dreamed of playing for Ole Miss. I watched John Fourcade, Kent Austin, Romero Miller, Eli Manning, Jevan Snead, Bo Walllace, Jordan Ta'mu, and now Matt Corral. IMHO, Chad was the best - at least potentially. He only had one full year to learn and execute to the Ole Miss offense. If he'd come in as a freshman and had 3 good years he would own every Ole Miss QB record. He could pass, run, read defenses, improvise, extend plays, and he was an excellent leader on the field. He arm was the strongest of all. But his character destroyed every opportunity. Excellent video.

Since Eli Manning left Ole Miss in 2003 they didn’t have good QB play until 2008 with Jevon Snead, who had a really nice season but disappointed his next year in 09. After that, Bo Wallace was a really competitive QB who won and lost his fair share of games but was key in making that program successful from 2012-14, but battled shoulder and ankle injuries, and really didn’t compare to the talent of Chad Kelly. And when talking about Kelly, he has the talent to be a solid NFL QB but could never work out his personal life after Ole Miss like the video said. Shea Patterson was a 5 star recruit who left for Michigan and was a bust, and his backup who played, Jordan Ta’amu, was signed by the Chiefs but then played in the XFL for St. Louis. I’d say the current guy Ole Miss has, Matt Corral, can be a first rounder if he continues putting up insane numbers and limits the turnovers he has sporadically. He’s only a sophomore and definitely has elite talent and lit up the SEC with Lane Kiffin as his new HC

I like to think the problem with Chad Kelly was his ego. The guy is a stud on the grid iron, but that's where his ego became his own downfall. While it's nice to have a Hall of Fame uncle, I think he should have ignored the noise. I know the pressure was there to perform well all the time because of the name and being a relative of a HOF. But it's like I mentioned earlier, his ego is what caused his problems. I still thought it was insane when Chad was drafted by the Broncos (Elway most likely called Jim and asked him about his nephew. I'm know Jim was being a loving uncle to his nephew to help him out).
If there's one huge lesson anyone could learn from Chad Kelly, it would be to check your ego. Had Chad remained humble and focus on his craft as a QB, all of his problem would've never happened.

Not much anymore, basically build a decent oline and you can put any qb back there. Cowboys since 2016 is an example of that. Last year all 5 starters got injured week 5, so that was unfortunate for Dalton who still went 5-5 at least.
Because of defensive rules now, all you need is a decent oline, qb gets some time than makes the simple high school level throws.
