Love it! such a pure vehicle, always been my dream car The base spec 911, 4 is the one ide buy if money was no question. Less chance of losing control, safety of awd, not showy like the turbo and has a softer ride which is better of everyday driving compared to the more pure breed 911's.
I LOVE the new base 992. I want a PDK. Manuals are great guys, but the drawbacks in modern day traffic just suck. Everyone dreams about the perfect 70* sunny afternoon in the hills with their manual heel-toeing around but that is less than 5% of the time you're going to spend in the car.
Not entirely true, you can still do it if you want. Use engine brake during rush hours on highway you will got more chance to toe&heel than you are on track. And trail braking with toe&heel into yellow-light turns. I do that at least once a day, of course make sure the surrounding is safe.
@@drewmorg. I hear you, those condition is not ideal for any type of drive. I have been driving on some 5-20 km/h roads too, but my thought instead, is i can at least shift from 0-1,1-0, as a fidget stick, otherwise I would have felt to sleep every time
My friend, this was as excellent review! I took delivery of my C4S 13 months ago and have logged 13,500 miles on it. It is an incredibly capable car. I have even driven it in ice/snow (with dedicated snow and ice tires), it is superb. However, the amount of power in this is, and I agree with you, more than any normal person would ever need. I do love my 992 C4S, but I see where you’re coming from in your love for the base Carrera (4). Congratulations and keep up the great work!
Would it be a mistake to think a 992 C4 would be a good winter car in New England? Completely base w/rear wiper and maybe the front lift? A Macan would be more capable in the winter but.......We do have a Spring, Summer, and Fall and well, a Macan isn't a 911 ;-)
@@jamesvelvet3612 I’ve now got over 17,000 miles on my 992 C4S. I have a set of winter tires and drive it in the winter. You can’t go wrong with this car!!!
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I really enjoyed it! You did a fantastic job of describing a car that I’ve been interested in buying. Your sense of humor and ability to convey what the car is like to drive almost makes me think I don’t even need to test drive the car now. Really great job man! I’m going to go see what else you’ve reviewed right now. 👍
It’s great hearing that I’m doing something for the community and helping them find out more about a car the want/are interested in. Thank you for the support ✌🏽✌🏽
What an awesome review! Eloquent, clear, and clearly you know what you are talking about. Wonderful. I went into your channel and see that you haven’t updated content later. I’ll look at your other videos. But do please keep adding content. TH-cam needs more creators like you!
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I’ll be adding more content soon. Just haven’t had the time to do it, and I’m not one to produce content just for the sake of it. It must be something with added value, at least to my eyes. Thank you for subscribing 🙏🏼
That's simply a workaround for an existing issue, and it doesn't solve it. That implies that you'll be running the car at higher RPM than needed, even when you're just driving casually. But yes, driving around in sport mode (with the gearbox in auto), will yield a quicker throttle response.
Ignore the complaints - it's refreshing to be spoken to like an adult. You avoid the car review clichés, for example, the obligatory maniacal laugh on acceleration and suchlike. Keep up the good work, man. (PS I don't know where you get the opening music from, but I'd be happy to contribute a piece for another video).
Watching now. About to place an order for base 911 992 but tempted for the "4" as in the UK roads are wet very often so curious of your thoughts. Can't afford the 4S which would be the sweet spot.
Congratulations on your ‘soon to be’ new Porsche! To me it boils down to personal preference/ease with car behavior. If you want a more communicative (car and steering), playful, lighter and ultimately more engaging car, go with the rear wheel drive. Especially if you’re not a stranger to oversteer (which I think there won’t be tons of, but some), and/or want to learn more about controlling a car on the limit with throttle and steering inputs. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a very competent, thrilling and all year round sports car, go with the 4. It’ll be a great driving car, with plenty of power and a lot of fun, dry or wet. On wet you’ll have fun by being able to drive quickly, whereas the rear wheel drive will give you the thrill of the rear stepping out. My personal preference would always be the RWD, so think what you want from the car, and what will make your feel more excited/happy with your choice. Hope this helps you
First time viewer here. I have to say this is a very good and thorough review. I like the fact that you mentioned about the turbo lag as well and explained that in the video👌👌👌 you're a very nice guy and thanks for this cool review. FYI I was in the market for the 911 and just bought myself a carrera s 2021 model, I personally wanted more power and am very happy with the car. Needless to say this base model is also a worthy choice, especially for the entry level Porsche buyer 👍 Looking forward to you reviewing the carrera s and the upcoming turbo as well (non s). Keep it up and I am sure you will grow your channel. 👍👍
J Smith, I have a 991 4s as well. What are your thoughts about adding these two minor mods. It was told that it would add about 20HP 1) IPD Plenum: www.fabspeed.com/porsche-991-carrera-ipd-plenum/ 2) BMC Air Filters: www.fabspeed.com/porsche-991-carrera-bmc-f1-replacement-air-filters-2012-2016/
@@DriftingSquirrel Really appreciate. The reason I am asking is that just ordered a Dolomite Silver base 992, and still debating between GT silver and it, LOL.
You have potential but here are some improvements. I only am helping because you have potential, so you can develop into a great channel. 1.) Voice volume needs to be slightly higher. 2.) Inaccurate statements. Cut this out. Your statements start off accurate and then veer off many times. For example : "The non-turbo 911's are all turbos." Not completely true. Avoid such vagueness. The writing needs a lot of work. When all these things add up, a listener/viewer will just write you off. Speak less, but make each word meaningful. 3.) Constantly mentioning other cars i.e: M4- big killer. Realize you are alienating viewership who came here for Porsche. Otherwise, not too bad.
Your comment has potential but here are some improvements. 1). At the time of publishing, all 992 911s were turbocharged, so this was completely accurate. 2). Unless you were going for irony, suggesting vaguely that ‘the writing needs a lot of work’ immediately after instructing him to ‘avoid such vagueness’ makes you sound like a moron. 3). You would come across as laughably patronising even if your feedback was in any way constructive or helpful, which it wasn’t. Realise your opinions are not nearly as important as you think they are. Otherwise, not too bad.

Muito bom, very good review. When driving corners in this C4 do you feel and miss the PTV of the C4S 992 ? Obrigado
I can't say that I missed anything mid corner. It's quite a balanced car tbh. Although I'd 100% go for a non AWD version
A tip on the turbo lag…keep the rpm’s up. I drive mine in Sport Mode constantly and there is zero lag.
