    Lyrics: Left On Mars
There was a child climbing a hill on a winter's night
Face up to space above and taken by the sight
Time slowed down under the blessing of the skies
Of dying stars and their billion years of light
I flew across the void of space in a waking dream
Astride a fusion flame I'm finally redeemed
To find the wonders that transcend the bounds of time
To hear the heavens sing and reach the other side
Do you know that my heart still holds the rage, no
And I’ve turned page after page
I never chose to be an alien, no
I'm just looking for a home
I know I’m better left on Mars
I see the star that gave us life in the rusted sky
The hills turn crimson as I take your hand in mine
I always thought this place was safe and I was wrong
You chose to cross the void for me
    I was made strong
Do you know that my heart still holds the rage, no
And I’ve turned page after page
I never chose to be an alien, no
I’m just looking for a home
I think you know that my heart still holds the rage, no
But you still believe in me
And I choose the mercy of your heart
I'm just looking for a home
    There together we'll find home
    Alone together left on Mars

Marko said in an interview: "“A love song to my wife which ends up uniting two old friends. Even if the song itself sucked, I would be pleased about the result!”"
I hope, that these two will end up making an album together. I always had that wish and I am so happy, that they are working together. Watching them perform together, seeing them so happy makes me feel, like it could happen. This song sounded so good the first listen, and keeps getting better and better the more I listen to it.
    Thank you for the reaction.

Thanks for the great reaction. I really like this song. It fits exactly the style of Marko's music and I don't understand why people expected a Nightwish sound from him.
Marko recently said in an interview that after all the commotion about Tarja's firing stopped, he found out that he had lost a friend and that is the main reason why they work together. Marko apologized to Tarja in 2017, but they have been in regular contact only since last year.
Last year, the two sang Phantom of the Opera in Switzerland, when they had a concert back-to-back at the Z7 festival. Tarja asked him about it and he said in an interview that he was excited about the idea and immediately agreed. At that time, he carried the song Left on Mars on USB to introduce Tarja backstage in Z7.
In addition, Marko promised Tarja that in exchange for her singing with him on his song Left on Mars, he would appear on her song. So we can expect another duet this year. Marko and Tarja will have another tour this year called Living the dream Together. The two did not rule out, but neither did they confirm the formation of a joint band or project.
Marko also said in the recent interview that when he joined Nightwish, the band was already divided into two camps. Everyone was telling him something different and he couldn't figure out where the truth was.

I think it’s the fact they are together put a subconscious Nightwish sound in my brain. I know some of Marko’s music and so I made the adjustment quite easily as soon as realised that’s what I was doing. I’ve listened to it several times and each time, it becomes better.

Living the dream tour began in Neuquen, Argentina then Mar del Plata and Buenos Aires before they went to Chile and by now they're in Brazil. I saw on march 1, 2024 in Mar del Plata. It was an amazing performance. This is the setlist of that day. One more thing, Left on Mars is powerful live ❤

"Marko also said in the recent interview that when he joined Nightwish, the band was already divided into two camps. Everyone was telling him something different and he couldn't figure out where the truth was."
This is an absolute lie. From Marko's words at that time, it is obvious that he understood the whole situation perfectly and was completely on the side of the band and their management. It's so ridiculous that Marko is now trying to picture himself as a naive child, even though he's been in the music business since 1984 and had more experience than anyone else at Nightwish, not to mention that he worked with them for almost 20 years without complaining about anything.
I'm starting to think that he really has serious mental problems and not only with depression, considering that in his post when he left Nightwish, he specifically emphasized that "Blaming for instance Tuomas is an insult to both him and my free thinking," and now he says otherwise.
And in general, that text has some rather strange statements for a sane person, like:
"Conspiracy is the word of the day. For the people who like them I need to say that my 55th birthday is now on 14th of Jan and I've certainly done my time for now" 🤔
      and especially:
"Biggest tour promoters squeeze percentages even from our own merchandise while paying dividends to Middle East. Apparently some theocracies can take the money from the music that would get you beheaded or jailed there without appearing as hypocrites."
Like what?? What does the Middle East have to do with it?

Never say never, you might get an interview with Marko if you try, he is quite open about these things. And recently Marko has been very open about why he left NW and how he feels now when he is touring with Tarja. Marko is clearly happy that he got his friend back. He said that after everything that happened with Tarja's firing and when it all calmed down, he realised that he had lost a friend. And Marko said, that bothered him for years until he reconnected with Tarja. The both have said that they have changed as persons since 2005 when they knew each other. Tarja said that now they have a new kind of friendship and I think it really shows on stage. It's very sweet. They have so much chemistry.
Throughout the years Tarja has been talking about NW every once in a while when asked but I think that in recent years she has opened up a bit more..... and she has said that Once was her favourite album from NW.

This is Marco music with his band...he said that he wanted to do it with a lost friend...not lost anymore. Yes...this is not a showcase of vocal potential ...more just like you say...healing and curing them - yes Marco really said that in the interview. He understood that he had lost a friend and wants now to recover ...they had lost the connection - but he wanted to build it again. The line "but you still believe in me" has a real meaning.

Tarja recently invited Marko to her own concert to guess what? Dueting with him on old Nightwish songs, like Dead to the World, Slaying the Dreamer, etc.
Imagine having both vocalists of Nightwish on stage covering themselves...

    • @PetraPola
      @PetraPola 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

They didn't play Slaying the Dreamer. From Nightwish they only played Wish I Had an Angel and Death to the World. In several cities also Planet Hell. Marko then sang duets with her from her solo stuff (Dark Star, Dead Promises) or covers of Over the Hills and Far Away and Phantom of the Opera, but these are not original Nightwish songs. They also introduced Left on Mars and played songs from their solo stuff that weren't duets. Marko also had his acoustic set at the beginning of her concert. Tarja sang a long set of her own songs.

I have no inside information, but from what I’ve heard it seems like it was basically Tarja vs Tuomas. Marko said he got conflicting stories and I’m sure the tension was pretty bad. Let’s face it, Tuomas is Nightwish. They stuck with him or with her. Just my 2 cents.
My introduction to Nightwish was seeing these two sing Phantom of the Opera. I’m thrilled they have reconciled!

    • @akaha001
      @akaha001 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Yeah, even though it was Marko who originally brought up that Tarja should be fired, I think it was more to do with how that whole situation was affecting the band than any personal beef he had with Tarja. He has more recently said that it was more of a managerial turf war where different sides were giving different information and it was hard to know the truth of things. Maybe not having the best experience during his own last years in Nightwish also opened his eyes more to what it had been like for Tarja all those years ago, even though by that point he and Tarja had already made up anyway.

I didn't know they were touring, so.. got late to the party.. so it's not just that song, they are on tour together!! I think they are personally and as artists way much better out of the nightwish world. I guess it's also the case of Anette Olzon, a singer who spent I don't know many years, she was part of two great albums and then she's out.. I think Anette got the worst part in the history of nightwish.
About this song!!! I'm glad Marko is using other colours, it's catchy and more soulful.. and Tarja is much better at being a rock singer now, her operatic style is more in control.

    • @larryzigler6812
      @larryzigler6812 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Her so-called operatic style is a misnomer and been way overblown forever . Exploring her 19 solo albums will prove it. Indeed you are rather late to her and Marko's epic current tour

It should be considered however, that "Bye Bye Beautiful" was representative of the keyboardist's feelings towards Tarja, not Marko. So there is no parallel there.
Marko didn't wrote that song, and he most likely never felt that way about Tarja.

    • @APREACTS

@@APREACTS So did Anette Olzon, who never felt any sort of anymosity towards Tarja, and never even met her in person. What is your point? .
Both Marko and Anette performed the song because it was their job, which is a convincing enough argument. He didn't wrote it, and the keyboard player already wrote "Ever Dream" and "Slaying the Dreamer", about Tarja and her husband before he even joined the band.
The keyboardist, and NW management, already had resentment towards Tarja before Marko became a part of the group at all. Of course Marko recorded "Bye Bye Beautiful" and played it live, it was either that or he was out too, Holopainen legally owns the trademark for the brand "Nightwish".
So it is a ridiculous parallel. Marko didn't go from "Bye Bye Beautiful" to this. He never wrote that song in the first place.

Nightwish is more successful than a Solo Marko (or Solo Tuomas). Marko will probably no longer play in sold-out stadiums. Recently the mood in the band was good and Marko specifically excluded internal band problems. Marko can decide that this will now be his early retirement. He then tours the area a bit, sings a few Nightwish songs like Tarja and everyone is happy. But if he's still hungry for the audience, if he wants to throw a big party, then he'll return to Nightwish.

@@hextatik_sound No, he complained about investors buying into the independent labels. He now has to work for people who are not interested in his artistic work, but only in whether they make money from it. He wasn't referring specifically to Nuclear Blast, but to the industry as a whole. Ironically, he himself is now in Nuclear Blast, where this also applies. The founder of Nuclear Blast has therefore founded his own new label, Atomic Fire. In advance, he had already signed bands separately so that they would not come to the investor Believe Digital. Napalm also has an investor, which is why both are no longer really independent, as they used to be.
