Northern Kings is an old supergroup. They resurrected the band last summer and did a festival tour. They had almost a ten-year break from their last appearance together. They are all Finnish metal singers. Tarot is really Marko's own band, which was founded in the 80s. Marko has made a solo album.

Finnish supergroup with Marko, Jarkko Ahola, Tony Kakko, and JP Leppaluoto. They did 2 albums of cover songs. And they played some shows this year after about a dozen year hiatus.
Marko also played some solo shows this year. He put out a solo album in 2020. Try Voice of My Father or Stones from that.
Ok, you guys need to watch Tuska 20th anniversary song. Tuska (means agony in English) is the most legendary Finnish metal festival, and some of the very top Finnish metal artists made an anniversary song for it. It is in Finnish, but I think you don't need to understand it to enjoy it. Lyrics are names of well known songs and albums, for example "peace sells, but who's buying" by Megadeth, but in Finnish.

Just four old guys that love music and happen to be some of the best metal singers Finland has. "We Don't Need Another Hero" was their first single. As Valtte said, Marko's band is Tarot, with their most well-known song being Wings of Darkness from 1986 album Spell of Iron. They re-recorded the album in 2011 for their 25th anniversary. Tarot disbanded after the death of their drummer. Marko said it isn't right without him. He doubts a reunion. However MH is going strong and his projects with other bands and of course Northern king's is doing the festival tour.
@@ejllamobeolan5025 He certainly seems to be active with guest stuff. Sadly, I saw where he dismissed any idea of returning to Nightwish.

Northern Kings and this cover of Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero" is a first listen for me as well. Enjoyed this metalized version of this 80's hit, though. Fun reaction 2ndhandsouls. \m/ \m/
Northern Kings reminds me that soon is Christmas...And that means traditional "Heavy Christmas" tour is on it's way around Finland.
This "Heavy Christmas" is something that you need to check on some point,traditional Christmas songs are turned to heavy and rock genre.
Members on that tour changes some what on each year but example Floor Jansen and Marko Hietala has been there many times....and many other top-names also from Sweden,GB ...From USA Joe Lynn Turner has been also here on this tour.
In fact, one epic case on this tour (2017) was when Floor and Marko sung "Ave Maria".

I was supposed to go to Heavy Christmas consert in Helsinki tomorrow, but it’s cancelled. The event organizer, one of the biggest in Finland, is in banckruptcy and the whole Heavy Christmas -tour is in trouble. It’s difficult to get an other organizer in such a short notice. They manage to organize some of the 22 concerts, but this is a real pitty. First corona and now this shit.

I was there. Just wanted to see Marco again, doing his thing. Now waiting for Ragnarok Juletide show in that same city where this gig was. Hoping not cancelling due to some bankruptcy...

The Northern Kings is a sort of Super group. The 4 guys came together to do a couple of albums.
Marko's group is Tarot
Marko's group is MH. And Northern king's. Tarot disbanded after the death of their drummer. He doubts a reunion.
Marko has been in kazillion different bands, this just a cover group. He also has a Black Sabbath cover band where they sing Sabbath songs in Finnish. He started his career in a band called Tarot with his brother in the 80's but they are not active anymore because his dear friend, the drummer Pecu passed away. He recently released a solo album and a follow up for that is probably coming at some point.
All of them are great, but JP (the one with the low voice who was speaking at the beginning) is the best. 🖤 Love him.

Look up The Powerless Trio with Marko and JP (sorry can't remember how to spell his last name!), he's the first guy to sing. They are awesome!

Pay some more attention to Tony Kakko, he was close to Tuomas in the beginning of Nightwish and makes great music with his band Sonata Arctica ( like NW founded in 1996) Last guest performance he did with NW ( I think) was Rock in Rio 2015, a nice but underrated NW performance. You should watch it, even if it was just for the futuristic stage and the attention the camera man (?😅) was giving to Floor’s legs in boots❤

This is just mobile recording from the audience, that's why the sound is bad.
They have great voices in proper recordings.
Recognize Marco? This is the group he's been singing in (off and on) since he left Nightwish. A step down if you ask me, but that's an opinion.
He left Nightwish in Jan. 2021. Floor and Troy have been touring along w/o him. Reviews say they sound great!

Floor and Troy happends to be members of Nighwish like Emppu, basist Jukka, Kai and Tuomas.
None of them have the voice of Marko, so they had to change. I saw them in Tampere last spring and I really missed Marko, he left a huge hole to NW.
Surely you know, why Marko left NW. He had had big mental problems and insomnia for years. In order to recover he needed a brake. To see him on stage again is a great pleasure. He did a couple of gigs with Northen Kings and with his solo band last summer and that is a hudge step forward and up from the state he was. I’m sure we’ll hear a lot more of him in the future.
I wish him all the best with his family and career. I am so happy that he is a father of a baby girl now also. ❤
He's been with Northern Kings since the 2000s, almost as long as with Nightwish. Marko just has fun doing a ton of collabs, happy that he's doing any music at all right now considering why he left Nightwish in the first place. Nightwish was just a side band of his like all the other projects he participates in that aren't Tarot or his solo work. One could, and I certainly would, argue that Nightwish didn't utilize his skills to their best most of the time. So agree to disagree.

Northern Kings are great, there are better versions. Check out Jarkko Ahola singing My way, he is quite amazing, it is with Northern Kings. They haven't been together in 10 years, so this wasn't that good as they sound years ago.
