    Love your amazing videos, it’s Christmas Eve 2023, I’m working on a cuddle backed throw quilt for my granddaughter, needed some ideas as to weather I wanted to bind with added minky binding or fold back to front. Thank you for sharing your inspiration!

    Thanks again for this wonderful series on using Cuddle! This particular video is one I've been waiting for! I'm making quilts for twin girls and want to use Cuddle 3 on the backs. After watching the video I think I'll use Cuddle fur for the binding. 😉

    Can I embroider on cuddle fabric? If so what stabilizer and thread should I use? Love your tutorials, so helpful. Thank you.

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You'll want to use a lightweight tear-away stabilizer for the bottom and a water-soluble stabilizer for the top. We use Sulky brand stabilizers. You can use whatever embroidery threads your machine prefers. (-Teresa)

  • @pennyw5050

    You are very good at details especially for beginners. What is the reason you went with the 1-3/4” binding different than normal?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1 3/4" binding allows us to use a single layer of Cuddle and top stitch along the raw edge for a nice finish. -teresa

    Might be a silly question but I'm kinda a beginner with sewing machines can u use a generic brother sewing machine n what stitch would be best on these machines?????

    • @TeresaCoates
      @TeresaCoates 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just use a straight stitch at at least 3.5mm stitch length and a walking foot. Check out our 7 Tips video for more info!

    Do you recommend putting the binding in dryer w/wet wash cloth after cutting it? The cuddle 3

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You absolutely can, but if I am using Cuddle 3, I usually just shake it off really well and go from there. :) --teresa

    Would love to see a video with at least a lap quilt size piece of cuddle, since many people struggle with using a large piece of minky on the back of a quilt...a piece this small is easy to work with comparatively and tho the technique is good, no one is actually making anything this small. The stretch in cuddle fabric is difficult to use for backing a quilt .

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your suggestion. We are scheduled to do a a large bed-size quilt in March, but we have also done the StripThrow, which uses 60" long strips and the large Self Binding Blanket, which uses a 60" x 72" backing.

  • @merryluzeller707
    @merryluzeller707 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you tell me why you don’t just use a regular straight stitch on the final side of binding?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  ปีที่แล้ว

      We recommend using a zig zag because it is easier to hide the stitches that way and it's difficult to get a perfectly straight seam on the knit fabric. It can be done, but I've found it is easier for most people to do a zig zag. --teresa

    Hi Teresa! So... I'm using 505 spray - for the first time. Do I need to wash the item before I use it to remove this product? Apologies if the obvious answer is yes 😕

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you'll want to wash it to get the sticky out, but it's fine to use before you wash it. :) --teresa

    Since I've found that cuddle luxe hide seems to have more stretch in one direction than the other, would it be adviseable to cut the binding so that it will stretch less?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of our Cuddle and Luxe Cuddle fabrics stretch much more width-wise than lengthwise. We use that stretch to our benefit when used for binding. Try not to stretch it as you sew, but the stretch comes in handy around corners and when combining the tails. (-Teresa)

    Doesn’t the zigzag show on back of blanket

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you catch it just at the edge it will hide in the fibers of the binding. If you miss the edge and the zig zag falls onto the backing, you will see it, but the softness is what matters. :) -Teresa

    I found this to be incredibly helpful. May I make a suggestion? (Please don’t take this personally as you truly do a wonderful job on the video’s), but the “okay”’s and “um”’s became very distracting. (When you’re joining the two different type bindings - is where it is really noticeable).
