  • Oliver Kite harvesting blackberries and enjoying a picnic of scrumpy and guinea fowl. Extremely rare footage taken from the long deleted video of Ollie’s only existing TV shows at Southern Television in the 1960’s. Completely captivating and charming short films of a master countryman, broadcaster, naturalist, writer and fisherman - a great influence on those fortunate to have met and worked with him. He (along with producer Ted Channell) were among the pioneers of today’s popular nature television programmes.

    what a marvellous person Oliver kite was I would have loved to have met. so sad he died to young

    Well that brought back happy memories thank you so much I had often wondered what happened to him when he just disappeared 48 far too young to go bless him used to watch him and jack hargreaves when I lived at home with my parents happier times

    And to think this lovely gentleman Fought Against the Japanese army in Burma in World War II there were many men like him in both walls gentle characters and personalities but probably fearsome on the battlefieldLeast we forget Ollie kite❤

    I can remember the Red Admirals coming over the English Channel from France at this time of year- late August early September and into Hampshire by the sea. We dissolved honey into water and then poured it on to cotton wool and these butterflies would drink from the pads we distributed around.
