Oliver Kite - Summer in Kite's Country

Oliver Kite - weed-cutting and fly fishing on the River Wylye at Fisherton de la Mere. Extremely rare footage taken from the long deleted video of Ollie’s only existing TV shows at Southern Television in the 1960’s. Completely captivating and charming short films of a master countryman, broadcaster, naturalist, writer and fisherman - a great influence on those fortunate to have met and worked with him. He (along with producer Ted Channell) were among the pioneers of today’s popular nature TV programmes.

It would be interesting to see how that beautiful stretch of river had faired over the intervening years, I fear with pollution and water extraction it might have suffered somewhat. Great video of a bygone time.
