China have destroyed themselves and their country now, sadly I do not see how they can ever recover - certainly without help from the nations they are currently at war with.
When Britain and America become fully aware of just how evil the actions of the CCP have been towards them; and WHY they have to be committed to this evil path - I am afraid there is no going back and China will never receive the international help it needs to rebuild until they can offer Xi Shinpings head. Not after what he has been doing and the damage he has caused to the entire world, esp America and Britain over the last 4 years.
But the world will help the Chinese people if they revolt against him and depose him - I just do not see that happening until its far too late.

i used to be a language teacher and non-native speakers are often better with English than native speakers. basically, native speakers learn proper grammar after learning the language, and ESL/EFL speakers learning from academic materials use it from the start. they are also much more aware of the nuances, as outsiders to the language. it's no different for me with other languages, i tested better than most native speakers on an official German proficiency test, even tho i didn't study it until i was 15.

I have traveled to a lot of very dodgy places in the world and spoken to many of the local inhabitants. Maybe it is something that I do unintentionally or maybe I have been very lucky but many of them have opened up to me and surprisingly quickly about their own countries. However bad I may have thought that these countries were before speaking to the people I soon changed my mind. It was either worse, much worse or so bad that I was very happy to have left alive. These countries include India, Pakistan, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Bali, Malaysia, Singapour, The USA, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Zambia, Tunisia, Cuba, Guyana, Ghana, Morocco, Trinidad, Madagascar, Columbia, Brazil, China, HongKong, Mexico, USA, Denmark, Thailand, Vietnam, Mauritius, Germany, Spain, Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Possibly a few more that I can't remember at this time.
I know that England is not even close to perfect, to say the least, but I have never ended a conversation with the natives without thanking God that I can soon enough go home. I can also assure you that the more you do know about a particular country the worse it gets. The first or second impression that most foreigners get when visiting another country is not even close to what is under the surface if they so much as bother to scratch at it.
If you think I could write a book about my travels around the world, you would be wrong, I could write several and would still leave a lot out, especially that related to my encounters with the opposite sex. The world out there is DANGEROUS, you would not believe what other people have to deal with, especially if you are lucky enough to be born in England, and I mean even the worst parts of it. It is not at all difficult to see why so many people wish to come here and are so better equipped to survive in England than the English would to survive a week in most of the above places.
It is not so much poverty as one may suspect, people can get used to not having some of the material benefits we take for granted. It is the endemic corruption, tribalism, racism, pridefulness, fearfulness, criminality, distrust, smallmindedness, ignorance, and rampant nepotism that seem to engulf everyone's thinking. So much so, that they seem incapable of having any time or energy left to think about anything else. If you EVER meet someone in the majority of the above countries that seems to trust either the cops or the Government then you are either dealing with a liar or an idiot. Perhaps the only country where I met anyone who refused to open up so much as a tiny bit was mainland China, but plenty enough did.
One country in particular that is far more corrupt than many seem to believe is Ireland, or many Irish people claim that it is. I also found out a few things about Denmark that may surprise many. I could go on but you may need to wait until the book comes out. However, being English the degree of racism out there is absolutely astounds me, and most of it is not directed toward Westerners at all, but toward ethnic minorities or majorities within their own countries, and sometimes towards members of their own families, whatever the tourist guide may tell you. What is perhaps worse, this is often related to the shade of their own skin. The darker the worse and the whiter the better.
Although you will undoubtedly receive some anti-white or anti-colonial nonsense every now and again as a general rule Westerners are treated far better than they treat each other and not just because they love our money and want to copy our language. A lot of them genuinely see us as better than themselves whether we do or not. Especially in places like India and Pakistan many of them believe that we are so blessed or lucky that we are indeed touched by the gods. To be honest, after visiting many of these countries it is difficult not to agree with them,. or at least see more clearly where they are coming from.

I don't know what's led you to visiting so many benighted countries, but I know what you mean. I haven't been to nearly so many, but still, I've been to a number of places while in the navy...and I was a heavy drinker, so I tended to find myself drinking in some nasty dives--almost got myself killed in Marseilles or Toulon (I can never remember which), when a local followed me back toward the dock the liberty boat was waiting at. French sailors rescued me. It was stupid of me to flash a hundred dollar bill in a dive bar...but I learn from my mistakes.
One thing I learned was that, overall, if you act like a decent human being, you can get by in most places, as long as you don't look like you have anything of value.

Merely knowing the rules of grammar for a language in no way makes one more proficient in the language... having taught language for 10 years, with lots of explicit grammar instruction, many students who excelled at learning grammar failed to become very proficient in the language with their writing skills often being somewhat better than their speaking skills - but both being below a native speaker with a public school education. Practice make perfect (continually speaking and writing and making corrections) and engaging with native speakers extends linguistic skills in a language. Not just studying or experience in a languages grammar. Case in point, me. I studied linguistics (have a Masters degree) and know the "grammars" of several languages, yet am not proficient in a single one. Funny that.

Not really shocking. Stalin is still highly regarded in Russia, with tons of apologists and historical revisionists out to whitewash him (including the government). It's a general rule of regimes like those to take up the nation's worst monsters as heroes.

@@gravityissues5210If someone said “Ronald Reagan killed the most citizens of any president” (this is purely a made-up example) would you ignore it or seek further dialogue to understand what they’re referring to? Even when he mentions maos atrocities they just don’t seem to care they don’t question it at all. If they thought he was lying or misinformed you would think they would be vocal about that but they just don’t seem to care.

The woman that responded to the Mau death toll with "there are drugs here". I disagree that she was engaging in whataboutism.
China had a drug problem. Mau dealt with this problem in the same way he dealt with most. He had all the addicts killed. I actually think that she was giving Mau credit for the sharp decline in drug addiction in China.
I'm not defending the woman. She's clearly a lunatic in any event.

I don’t know why you guys are so hard on the Chinese for using “whataboutism”? Because when you address Chinese criticism of the US or the West, that is exactly what you do. You’ll say “what about China’s …… “, pointing out something negative about China.
So I don’t understand why you guys are so critical of the Chinese doing the exact same thing you guys are doing.

Ummmm not at all true. Ask any American or Canadian what they think of certain politicians, especially their Prime Minister or President, and they'll GLADLY criticize. We are VERY willing to admit our countries problems and faults, and even more quick to point out our leaders faults. Chinese are literally NOT ALLOWED to, or they are too afraid to really, because they can do whatever they want really, they could be a FREE COUNTRY TOMORROW if they choose, but they don't.......That's the difference bud ;)

They are in the US where they have the right to criticize the CCP and they still choose not to and instead judge the country that gives them the right to speak their mind. You don’t understand their point or are outright ignoring it to push your agenda.
