Most folks are starting way behind this point, yet you and other so called tutorials start at the recovery point. Hey! I can reboot a phone and navigate directories too! Why don't you expand upon what it means to actually root the device, link to somewhere that does, or at least not make any stupid assumptions of the viewer?
My HTC ONE m7 fails to download the ROM. (when it installs the ROM it sais failed instead of successful. and when I reboot my phone it's the same old version that I had before.) What should I do?

Hi first of all i love this rom but there is an issue. I installed this rom and disabled some apps , set up whatsapp. Then decided to install my old rom(gp edition + 5.1 rom). But it failed. I wiped before all of the flashes. When it fails in everytime i flashed lineage again but when i boot the phone, the apps that i disabled in the first boot allready disabled and see whatsapp messages. Can you explain how it happens? I wiped everytime and whatsapp messages stays still. I didnt happen before the lineage os
Installed LineageOS 14.1 Official with the latest Open Gapps Stock on my HTC One M7. Love it, although battery drains very fast and I can't get the IR Blaster back to work unfortunately.
Tom Pijnappel No amount of updates will make the IR blaster work. The drivers for the IR blasters are proprietary and isn't distributed by HTC outside of their sense ROMs.
CD27 Thanks mate for the important information. I'm gonna figure out how to get fully back to stock, which is Android 5. It's more complicated than I could ever expected.
I installed this on my LG g3 beat. Does anyone know why there is always ads popping up when WiFi is on? No matter what app you're on always happens. Also WiFi strength is weaker, any solution for this?
Aarish Rahman The Wi-Fi turns on and off every now and then, and the TH-cam app is very slow, everything including videos, comments, subscriptions, playlists all take a very long time to load. Just about usable for me but I'm flashing a new ROM anyway.

which gapps platform, android and variant need i choose for htc one m7?
I don't know why but I have never managed to get software updates to work in CM or Lineage OS.

mauro rios I'd say you have a malicious app installed nothing to do with the rom
The WiFi on the other hand is ROM based
I installed Twrp on my old M7. But when I boot into recovery - there is only a black screen.
Is it nessessary to have s-off? I have hboot 1.61
+K. Fricke it is not necessary to have s-off, but you need to unlock your bootloader first .
Tech Tube bootloader is already unlocked.. Maybe I have to try a different version of Twrp
