I am a Pashtoon and can trace my ancestry on my mother and father's sides for over twelve hundred years. I had my DNA tested in the US a few years ago. It did not show even a trace of a Semitic connection. On the other hand, it showed an Aryan origin and connections to wherever people of Aryan origin have settled, There were large-scale migrations from Central Asia to Iran and further east into what is now Pakhtoon Khwa. These included the dominant Parthians. The word 'Parthian' may have become 'Pathan' over the years. Generally, the Semitic people have hooked noses which the Pathans as a rule don't.

Zia sahab...if you are interested in this topic, Just read about "Das Rajan Yudh" (War of 10 Kings) of Vedic times. This was fought between 1 Aryan King V/s 9 other Aryan Kings, around 6000-7000 years ago. Long story short, Aryan King Sudas won. One of the tribes from the loosing alliance was Druhyu. All the loosing tribes were asked to leave modern day India. This Druhyu tribe move north-west and later settled in area in & around modern day Afghanistan.
Yes you guys are from Aryan R-1a haplogroup (or its sub variation). The parent R-1a haplogroup is originally from India...hence migration happened from India towards north west till Europe.

Agree, Maybe i did go bit too far in linking the two branches based on linguistics.
Please do take note of the following, basis which i will rest my case.
1)It is Dr Hanif, in the interview who ends up calling Acharya PANINI as a Pashtun from Swat. I can corroborate in my readings that Pashtuns are named in the Vedas as Patakas, who are highlighted as a tribe in around the Gandharan region.
      2) The clincher to me is the nomenclature of the months. Which is easily intelligible to any one in India. These month Names are clearly from VIKRAM SAMVANT, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikram_Samvat
The only difference being that VIKRAM, whom the professor calls a prophet/ sage, is known as an accomplished King VIKRAMADITYA, who established the lunar calendar.
This calendar is distinct from the 360 day Old Persian calendar.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendars
      3) Pashai/ Pashto- while having a lot of Persian words is from the Indo-Aryan Language family.

2- 't', 'd' , 'rh' sounds are pure Dravidian sounds. The modern Indo Aryan languages are mixed of Aryan language like Sanskrit and Indigenous Dravidian language.

Also to add to the historical timeline is the fact that Indus Valley Civilization was already in a decline when Aryans arrived in the subcontinent. And Aryans then gave rise to Vedic Civilization which came much after the Indus Valley. But yeah Indus Valley influenced alot on Vedic Civilization and as well as Pashtuns and other aryan groups too. Modern day Indo European speaking people of the subcontinent are genetically mixed of these Aryans and those of pre existing people of the subcontinent such as Dravidians and the Adhivasis etc.

Dr Sahab masters the history of Pathans, but one cannot ignore the fact that migration to some extent happened from Europe and from Middle East. However, as migrants they were not powerful enough to sustain their own culture and language so they adopted the dominant local culture. Only in few examples language traces can still be found. A more prominent sign of European and Middle Eastern origin of some people is their complexion and body physic. A pukhtun or pathan can be very well differentiated from the rest of south asians. I am a pukhtun living in middle east and mostly people confuse me as an Egyptian.

@Pathan-u7q what is Pashtun face? Its about time you guys educate yourself a little. Pashtuns do not have any common ancestor they are mix of Iran/Central Asia/South Asia and yes european dna is found in non pashtun people from North Pk as well. Just like any qoum pashtuns are people who follow certain culture/language and live in certain part of world, they can be of any facial feature, there is extensive research done on pashtuns because of their made up history, the research again and again actually showed that they do not have any single dna linking them to any common ancestor and keep that in mind Dna can trace thousands of years back. The tribalism made sure pashtuns stay together and their reluctance to educate themselves earlier on led the pashtuns of today think they are descended from heavens and the obsession of white skin in South Asia given them the opportunity to fuel this fire even further and made them non sensical and arrogant. North Pk is filled with people who look similar to what pashtuns fantasize what pashtun should look like but they are not Pashtun. So just like anyother nation, pashtuns are different tribes combined who share pashtun language/culture/location.

As a Yousafzai, it's unfortunate that our history isn't well documented. This is why Pashtoons have to see this day. When the doctor refers to different sources, like the Mughals called them "Aah wa Faghan" and then quoting Greek, he is quoting what others talk about Pashtoons, not what we are told by our ancestors. We were never of Aryan descent.
If adopting the Aryan calendar makes us Aryan, then by using the Western calendar, should we consider ourselves European or Christian, or British? It could have been the best calendar in the area when they arrived. Let's mention a fact here; The Old Swatis, now living in Hazara Division, are the real Gandhari, Aryan, whatever this doctor claims Pashtoons are.

With due respect ,The city of Peshawar ,Mardan ,kabul,Swat ,sawabi,Quetta ,Kohat ,Bannu etc never belonged to Pashtuns but the pashtuns started moving into these cities after 11th century. So Claiming Panini was a pashtun is absurd and Pashtuns have nothing to do with the archealogy of buddhist or gandhara civilization .By the way Can you explain the swaddling of babies in Pakhtun households?or the picking up of groom during weddings ?Where did these traditions come from, why no other ethnic group does it the same? The pashtun way of Swaddling of babies is more like egyptian mummies .That's what the ancient egyptions did at brith and death. For those who don't know Please do some research about the local languages of Peshawar,Bannu ,Tirah valley. Those languages are no more .Take for example Tirahi ,Tirahi speakers were displaced when the Pashtuns invaded Tirah and slowly they entered Peshawar valley .How do you explain ushuji language of Swat or the Akra settlement of Bannu ?It's important not to mix up people history with that of places .If you are relating the ruins of Takhtbai or the stupas of swat ,or Bamian buddhist statues with Pashtuns just because Pashtuns are living in these Areas today ,It would be wrong ...Most languages had no grammar until reading and writing began formally or for religious purposes . Languages borrowed and copied it from nearby languages and the ancient languages and so the vocabulary .Even if we go as per your logic ,Why the closest language to Pashto is Ossetian which is spoken 4000 miles away in the Caucases but no closeness to Punjabi ,Ushuji ,Hindko(The local language of Peshawar and hazara division) ,Balochi,Kashmiri or any dardic or dravidian language? Very scholarly and revealing discussion. Most of Indians connect themselves to the Aryans. Arya putra is a common phrase used in ancient literary refrences. Here few points are necessary to be taken into notice -
    * Vedas (means knowledge) are soul of Vedic Dharma. Earlier it was only veda. Sage krishna Dwepayana studied Vedas from beginning to end and edited it and devided into four sections i.e. Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva. Therefore he was named Ved Vyasa.
*Vedic Dharma is a code for civil behaviour. But, it is not a religion. Dharma is much more than religion. It teaches humanity and there is no reference to any religion, history or gegraphy in it. Why? Because Veda was revealed to ancient sages at the very begining stage of civilization or creation on the banks of Sarsvati river in the ancient Sapta Sindh region, presently in Haryana state of India.
    * As stated above, as civilization advanced, it drew names of people, places and things from Veda that was revealed to bestowed upon sages called "rishies".
    * Vedas can be studied only with the help of its grammar called Ashtadhyaee authored by maharishi Paninee and vedic vocabulary called Nighantu plus Nirukta (vedic Sanskrit etymology)an another help book.
    * So no tribe or race can trace its name to veda as a historical book. Might be that their ancestors had taken their names from Vedas the divine knowledge revealed to ancient Rishies at the beginning of this present creation. Vedas refer to the continuty of creation and distraction as a cycle.
    * Vikaramadity or Bikramadity was not a messanger of God or any Nabi. Rather he was an Emperor whose kingdom is believed to be spread over almost beyond present Iran. His capital was Ujjain city presently in the Madhya Pradesh state of India.
    * It is said Education was so common under his state that even shepherds used to converse in Sanskrit language which was language of educated people. Great scholar writer of many literary works and dramas Kalidass was a bright jewel in his court where he had eight more such persons experts in their own subjects.
    * Bikrami year or Vikrami Samvat was established from the year when he was bestowed with the title of "Vikramaditya" which means 'sun of bravery' on giving a great defeat to shakas now believed to be sethians. Please refer to Wikipedia for more information.

It Within it are included further two branches; Indo-Aryan(Urdu-Hindi, Punjabi, Sindhi, etc.) and Iranian (Persian, Paahto, etc.). Iranian represents a large language family and has further two sub-families; West Iranian, which includes Persian, Baluchi, Zaza, Kurdish, Talish, etc.; East Iranian, which includes Pashtun, Mungji, Yidgha, Wakhi, Singa;chi, etc.

He described them as “the lowest of the low,” and “a wretched people, with a cruelty that would shame the Stone Age.” He also labeled them as “dangerous and fanatic” and “primitive.” Churchill infamously wrote, “All who resist will be killed without quarter,” showcasing his brutal approach toward them. These quotes come from his book The Story of the Malakand Field Force: An Episode of Frontier War (1898), where he detailed his experiences and views during his time in the British military campaign on the Northwest Frontier.

@@mohammadnaeem1378 Pashtun Tribal Barbarism and Inhumane Conduct
The Pashtun tribal code, known as Pashtunwali, is an archaic and brutal system of conduct that exemplifies a grotesque disregard for human rights and dignity. This code enforces primitive practices like honor killings, where individuals are murdered to restore family honor, and tribal justice that often results in cruel and disproportionate punishments. Such barbaric practices are a direct affront to modern notions of justice and humanity.
      Misogynistic Tribal Culture
The misogynistic nature of Pashtun tribal culture is profoundly oppressive. Women in Pashtun society are subjected to extreme forms of subjugation. They are denied basic rights, including education, freedom of movement, and the ability to make independent decisions. This systemic repression is not only backward but also deeply entrenched in tribal traditions that treat women as property rather than human beings with rights and agency.
      Pedophile Culture and Exploitation
The abhorrent practice of “bacha bazi,” or boy play, is a grotesque form of pedophilia deeply rooted in some Pashtun communities. This practice involves older men exploiting young boys for sexual gratification, a practice that has been documented and condemned by major international news outlets like the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Times of the UK. The normalization of such exploitation and abuse within these communities is a severe indictment of their moral decay and barbarism.
      Terrorism and Violence
The Pashtun-dominated Taliban has been a global symbol of extremism and violence. This terrorist organization has perpetrated a reign of terror through suicide bombings, public executions, and other acts of extreme brutality. Their distorted interpretation of Islam justifies their inhumane actions, contributing to widespread suffering and instability. The Taliban’s actions are a testament to their savage and destructive ideology that thrives on violence and terror.
      Drug Trade and Global Impact
The involvement of Pashtun regions in the drug trade is another significant issue. Afghanistan’s role as a major producer of heroin has wreaked havoc globally. The cultivation, production, and smuggling of heroin from these regions have fueled addiction, violence, and instability worldwide. This illegal drug trade, which has persisted for decades, has devastating effects on global health and safety, making the Pashtun-controlled areas synonymous with drug-related crime and corruption.

fact Hindus in the vicinity of Pakistan is their living past, which they are denying vehemently.
What Pakistanis say about their pre-islamic ancestry:
All those whose title is Sheikh are Arabs: The fact is that all Sheiks are either converted from Kashmiri Pundits or from Khatris like Saigols.
All those with title of Mirza are descendants of Mughals: This is only partly true, as most of the Rajput converts and even non converts were given the title of Mirza like Mirza Raja Jai Singh.
All those with the titles of Saiyyad are true descendants of Mohammad: This is mostly fake. People took this title to extract respect from common folk. Although there are some true Saiyyads , The first Saiyyad in Sindh married local Sindhi Hindu girls(As per Kitab ul Hind by Al Beruni) thus even the true Saiyyads have local Hindu blood from mother side.
All those with the title of Awans are Arabs: While the first census of India was being carried out in 1870, the british officers find it very difficult to distinguish Awans from Hindu Rajputs as their customs were astonishingly similar to Hindu Rajputs. The current effort on the part of Awans to align with Arabs is for the same purpose as elicited at point 3. Dilip Kumar(Yusuf Khan) the film actor is Awan.
All Arains are also Arabs: Till Jia ul Haq usurped the throne of Pakistan, Arains were comfortable with their Hindu ancestry. They were and are vegetable growers and gardeners. With Jia’s elevation, Arains suddenly became Arab for obvious reasons.
All with the title of Janjua are Arabs: In Suleman mountain, coins of Maldev Janjua has been discovered. This is a matter of Shame for Janjuas rather than pride as they have framed themselves up as Arabs.
All with the title of Wattu are Arabs: They are infact Rajputs but prefer to call themselves as descendant of Arabs but shy away at the proposal of DNA test.
Khokhars: Khokhars call themselves descendents of Arabs but actually they are related to Jats, Hindu Khokhars created havoc in the Army of Mahmud Ghajnavi when Jaipal attacked Ghajni to take it back in around 980-990 AD. Hindu Khokhars killed Shahabuddin Ghori on the right bank of Indus near Attock in 1203 AD. There are still some Hindu Khokhars in India.
All with the title of Khan/ Pathan are actually Pakhtun and all Pakhtuns are Afghans and all Afghans are the lost tribes of Bani Afghana of Israel: The theory was promulgated in the medieval era but is refuted by DNA test. Some Pathan as told in the beginning are recent converts from Rajputs. Afghans have some Tadjik elements also. Pashto is an Indo-Iranic language and is not related to semitic language. According to Farishta, Afghans including Pakhtuns were Hindus and Pagans before their conversion to Islam. Muhammad Ghorí’s great grandfather Shansban was Buddhist. Similarly Tigin Shahis were turks and were Buddhists before converting to Islam.
Khan is the title of adopted by any noble Hindu convert to Islam , some times even barbers also used this title after conversion. However every Khan wants to identify with Pakhtuns.
All Ansaris are those Madinites who helped Muhammad in Madina: Ansaris in the Indian subcontinent are converts from weaver community of Hindus. They took this title as a semblance of respectability. They are still in the job of stitching, weaving and tailoring.
All Quraishis are those Quraishi clan to which Muhammad himself belong to: Qureshis in India are converts from Hindu Butchers or Kasabs. They took this title for the same reason of respectability , It was a clan decision to convert and clan decision to take this title.
However there are Jats , Rajputs, Gurjars , Khatris, Kashmiri Pundits and Ahirs in Pakistan who acknowledge their Hindu Past. They proudly keep their titles as Bajwa, Randhawa, Johia, Tomar, Deol, Rathore, Chauhan, Minhas, Salaria, Salathia, Shan, Rana, Raja, Satti, Bhutto, Lohani, Bhatti, Jadoun, Sumra, Samma, Sasan, Ghil, Maan, Gujjar, Katariya, Khatana, Kapur, Kohli, Sethi, Saigol, Bahal, Kakar, Khatri, Bhat, Rao, Rangher.
Some Pakhtuns’ title like Sarwani, Shahbani, Shahukhel, Kakar,Khosa, Bamzai, Karzai, Sadozai, Barakzai, Mahmand, Suri, Khattak, Afridi, Shermankhel, Mahsud, Lodi have in themselves definite Hindu and even Greek connotations. Greek historians Plini, Strabo and Sanskrit Grammarian Panini has thrown some light on the people living in what is now Khaibar Pakhtunkhwah. Also with little linguistic retrospection above tribes might be previously known as Suryavanshi, Shahvanshi, Shahkul, Kakar, Khosa, Vam, Kar, Sat, Varak or Virk, Mahamand(Or great Mand: Mand was a Shaka tribe), Sri, Shatak, Aparitai (Greek tribe), Srimankul, Mahashudra(Shudra was not a non Aryan tribe, rather Alexendar fought with Kshudraks a warrior tribe, Sud is still the title of Khatris of Punjab who are upper caste), Lydoi(A Greek tribe). Thus we can infer that these tribes originated from Hindu or Greek ancestors even the Yusufzais call themselves as Isap in their own gatherings, this Isap is the same as Aspesians who under their queen Kripi gave brilliant resistance to Macedonians under Alexendar the great in Massaga(some where near Peshawar) sometime in 327BC. Kripi in Greek sources is mentioned as Kleophis.
Kalash kafir people of the Chitral and Hunza still worship Mahadev and Yimraj and follow a primitive Vedic religion. Only 2000 left now as rest are converted by abduction of girls and forcibly conversion of men. They were masters of a province of Kafiristan in north east Afghanistan till 1896.
In brief, some 20% of Pakistanis are estimated to be from Turkish/Afghan/Mughal/Arab origins and rest 80% of purely indigenous. Among these 80% , mostly they were Hindus or a mix of Hindus, Buddhists, Animists and Zoroastrians and Jainism at the same time. Even in the remaining 20% there is substantial proportion of Hindu blood from mother side
      Lohanas
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohana
All Sikh gurus were Khatri themselves
Jinnah was vaishnavite lohana with surname thakkar which actually comes from takkar province of Afghanistan
Alama Iqbal was saraswat Brahmin with surname saproo
