CASABLANCA - A whole DIFFERENT MOROCCO! Travel Vlog
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 20 พ.ย. 2024
- In this travel vlog I'll show you the real Casablanca. Maybe you know the history and the movie, but what's the city like now?
I'll show you the not just the sights such as the Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca's Medina, Rick's Cafe (the recreation from the Casablanca movie) and Cathedral du Sacre Coeur, but also around the city - the architecture, the places, the districts.
It's a city that's not blessed with so many big tourist sights, but once you walk around and get to know it, it certainly has it's charms.
** Please note a mistake I made in the video - Morocco was a French protectorate, not a colonization, Moroccans kept all their adminstration and sultan for 44 years 1912-1956. Thank you to those who pointed out the mistake! **

I really like your video style. Honest and down to earth. Nice blend of practicality, history and blase. Feels like I'm travelling with a friend watching these video.
Thank you, pleased to hear it!
So glad you went to Rick's Cafe! I had wondered if it's worth a visit. It's lovely. Thanks.
It had to be done :-) I didn't eat there but the food looked good. I was happy just to sit at the bar for a Casablanca beer
i have to admit it this is the first time i watch a great vlog for casablanca i swear u did amazing 👏 i enjoyed it
Thank you so much, appreciate it!
Great video. I’ve visited Tanger, and Marrakech. I remember reading about Rick’s Cafe opening up many years ago. It’s definitely on my bucket list since being a big fan of the movie “Casablanca”. Thank you so very much for doing the tour along with things to see and know in Casablanca.
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
Brother. You're the best youtuber I've watched. The way you explain all these places is absolutely amazing. Plus your voice add more vibes to it. Casablanca morocco is my hometown. I live in USA right now.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot to me ♥️
Like your videos. Watching it prior to travel, gets me prepared and sets the expectations, the good, the bad,and the ugly! Kudos.
Thanks, glad you like them!
Luv your pronunciation mr Kermis reminds me of george harrison of the beatles. Morocco is beautifully presented by you, enjoyed it.
Thank you, not the worst comparison! They’ll be more coming
French protectorate not colonization, Moroccans kept all their adminsitration and sultan. And it was only 44 years 1912-1956
Apologies for the mistake. I've updated the description to reflect this. Thanks for taking time to correct it.
protectorate just by the name, but in reality it was a colonization
@@unstopobale7921 nope. Never in term of settlements, pure ressources exploitation
Protectorat is basically diet colonization
@@melaoui2318 nope, a protectorate there is a indigenous government administration with a target to make money and enjoy ressources. Whereas a colony is meant to be a part of the colonising country
Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words!
I am Moroccan and I visited most of the cities in the Kingdom of Morocco and I know the places and cities that you visited, but I enjoy more whenever I see your videos and whenever you take me on a tour with you, thank you Chris kermis
Thank you, it's lovely to here you say that!
Nice video Chris, you seem to be getting the hang of this. I didn't see as much of Casablanca as you did. Ricks Cafe was cool though. It feels like going back in time.
I certainly ran around a lot on this little trip, it wasn't exactly relaxed! Plenty more coming from Morocco and more travels in the works :-)
i love your content and the way you approach things..keep it up.
one thing in places like 2:14 don't go there alone especially in the afternoon..be safe and enjoy ..
from morocco casablanca peace
Thanks for watching and for the kind feedback! I didn't know that part north of the medina was unsafe. Felt fine when I was there at the time and I never really felt unsafe in Casablanca
Très beau pays ✨💚🇲🇦✨💚🇲🇦✨💚🇲🇦✨
Really enjoying you’re vlogs.
Thank you!
I'll be landing there in 7 weeks. Any recommendations for cheap lodging for this budget traveler? Enjoying your videos. Subscribed.
Thanks! Not really any recommendations, the place I stayed in was really not great and I wouldn't stay there again.
Good boy . Thank you.
next month we are in group visiting Casablanca..
Have a great trip!
Real review thanks!
Very nice! Casablanca look absolutely beautiful. They have the souks like in Marrakesh. I understand completely about the hassle, it can be a bit overwhelming at times. The Mosque looks incredible 👌🏾
Great reviewer.. no sugar coating ♥️
Thank you, I like to keep things away from the Instagram "perfection"
CASABLANCA is the world of all , all you want from world you can find in CASABLANCA , i am talking for real
Nice to meet you CHRIS
Very cool video, enjoyed it a lot :)
Thank you!
Great job Chris! Casablanca DOES have a 'unique' urban charm. The area around Arab League Park is DEFINITELY beautiful, just like those battered and chipped whitewashed medina walls, topped by circular ribbons of barbed wire adjacent to Rick's Cafe...just something viscerally cool about Dar el Bayda's whole Moroccan 'Big Apple' hipster vibe.
Thank you! Absolutely, it’s rough around the edges but has its charms
I just subscribed love this smart video great personality. Glad you enjoyed Casablanca it gets a bad rap. I actually love Casablanca I'm going back to Morocco this month in May. Go to Casablanca Jewish Museum the next time you're in Casablanca. I hope your subscribers grow. Keep up the great work bravo. I enjoy the history lesson, and also go to Moroccan mall.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I'll certainly be back in Casablanca later in the year so maybe will have the chance to visit the Jewish museum then.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉nice vlog👏👏👏
Thank you! 🙏🏽

I'm a Morrocan but I live in Italy.
In Morrocco my family lives mainly in Meknes, fes,Sale,Tangeri and Marrakech.
I visite the many times and went also to Casablanca to visit family also but never went around much.
I actually seen only the Mosque and didn't really plan to go back there but u changed my mind with this video.
Good camera and presentation work !
Thank you, appreciate it! It's well worth exploring and I also loved Rabat
You speak like a James Bond Gentleman, which gives your video vibes an extra dimension ! Very pleasant to watch ! Liked and subscribed !
Haha love it, thanks!
Great video🙏🏾
Thank you!
At this point ig you've visited every morrocan city and i'm all for it😅❤
I've certainly travelled around a fair bit of the country but there's always more to see!
Bugger I was happy to skip Casablanca on my upcoming trip to Morocco but that Hassan II mosque looks damn near unmissable.
Yeah I wouldn’t skip Casablanca, it’s well worth a visit!
Exelent your video
Thank you!
This is better than Lonely Planet 😻
Down to the ground, no cosmetics, kudos to you man
Cheers!
Casablanca , oh boy ...Reminds me of Place Verdain 😂 ... I used live in Rabat , but got some crazy good Casawis ... Smoked some bad ass Hashish , this is back in the 80 's ...Good memories..tanx ... Nowadays, I won't go there .... Got be careful in Casablanca..Good luck man
Nice 👍
Nice video ❤️🇲🇦❤️
Thank you!
I plan to go soon. Do you know any good places to eat?
Personally I really enjoyed going to a seafood place around the central market. It’s surrounded be places to eat and I made a little food video about it. I didn’t find any mind blowing tagines there like in Rabat, but I’m sure there’s good places I just didn’t know or discover. Have a great time there!
in Casablanca, I advise you to go to la Sqala if you want to eat moroccan in a nice atmosphere
@@mary-belI am looking for a guide in Marrakech and casablanca .looking for a contact there.
You missed the coast it's beautiful .
Only so much time, but I think I saw a reasonable amount in the time I had.
It's hard to get a sense of scale when looking at a map. You only took a taxi once? How long was all this rambling? My husband is nervous to explore on our own, but it looks like we can
I’ve been back there since making this video and used taxis several times. No trouble there, just do the usual of agreeing an amount or meter use before getting in. There’s also a really handy tram that gets you between useful places. Easy to explore independently!
you need to cover the prices of the food and show were you stay your hotels and prices
Agree on that, food, price, accommodation.
How long would you say you need in Casablanca to see everything?
2 full days was enough for me, that’s what it took to shoot this video. I’ve been back a couple more times but not to see anything new.
do a video on man and women attire and where do we do laundry? thanks...... sorry I keep asking questions. Many thanks.
✨💚🇲🇦✨💚🇲🇦✨💚🇲🇦✨💚🇲🇦✨
إنك حقا مأدب أنا سعيدة لأنك زرت بلدي مرحبا بك
Thank you!
French built many things in Casablanca ... idk why but when i go to Casablanca sometimes i feel like i am into french protectorate
It's certainly a nice city now and one I'd happily return to some day!
What month do u go? What the weather like in february
I was there in June and the weather was really nice. I don’t know about February
so you went to the medina... why didn't show the slums in this area and even in wide parts of the "new central" town? for my guys and me it was a cultural shock plus we got hustled many times.
Mainly because I didn’t want to loose my camera!
@@ChrisKermis
understand. i watched several videos of people walking through casablanca. but no one showed the dirt, the misery and told about the terrible and awful stench in many of the streets there. anyway, beside of this, the video is very nice.
@@dbassart thank you
Lol every big city in the work has its dark side, examples NY, SF AND Chicago in USA, London Paris and so on.
Absolutely true!
Macdonald, Burger king and all that rabbish.. I didn't really expect it of an American. 😊
American? 😂
@@ChrisKermis British, sorry.
Well, you only went to CentreVille so this is one side of Casa. The centre is NOT the posh part if the city. This is a good look at centreville.
80 years is a very long time
Is alcohol available in the country?
Yes it is, although there isn't a great deal of choice when it comes to places. I believe in this very video I have a beer in Rick's cafe, though there's certainly way cheaper than that.
Hi Chris 👋
For the information the biggest Mosque and minaret in the world are in algiers
But I find mohamed 2 mosque is great too
Interesting! I still need to visit Algiers at some point
@@ChrisKermis you are welcome bro ✌
@@ChrisKermis the only thing you need to be worried for your life. Food poisoning is killing lot of people there.

How many days to stay in Casablanca?
Depends what you want to do. 2 nights is possible if you’re really rushing around from place to place. 3 is more comfortable
Why don't give us a tour of my beautiful Imperial city Meknès it has more history, monuments .......and more in where also goten the recognition of American independance on decembre 4th 1777 by Sultan Moulay Ismail and the name of the states building came from here in the the oldest officiers army base named Adar El baidaa in arabic means White House that was giving name by Gorge Washington to thank Morocco.
Sadly I didn't have time to go to Meknès, but hopefully some other time.
مرحبا بك في المغرب اخي
Thank you!
Shukren
Morocco wase not colonized. It was a protectora.. casablanca is modern city like other modern city in the world
It certainly is a modern city, with a very European feel. I enjoyed my time there.
Also, apologies for the mistake. I've updated the description to reflect this. Thanks for taking time to correct it.
🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦❤️
Play it again Sam
You need to visit CALIFORNIA street in CASABLANCA
What is there? I’ll certainly be back

Amigo nosotros no somos ingleses hablanos en arabe frances o español ok
It’s not the Middle East and it’s not Europe hahah
It’s a little bit of both with some Africa thrown in too 🙂

hahahaha wallah fash dkhol mdina 9dima golt ya rabi salama. lmao
It was not a colonozation bro ... Morocco was protectorated by french ...there's a huge difference
Any ways... You'er welcome a 10000000000 times .
Yeah I made a pretty silly mistake there, sorry! I actually flew out of Casablanca again a few hours earlier today. I know a lot more about Morocco than I did the first time 🙂
It was just a mistake...it wasn't a silly mistake...sometimes we have to make mistakes in order to learn what is right...I just wanted you to know about this topic and I didn't see it as a big deal. Your presence in my country is an honor for me, and your talk about its history is an even greater honor.
I am from casablanca btw and I welcome you to my home whenever you want. I will be so happy if you accept
but this not real morocco. every tourist I see goes to these tourist areas where there are hotels and some nice buildings etc. but it's hard for ya to go to real Moroccan neighborhoods you can't even film there as everyone will be staring at you
Very true of course
Like every city in the world by the way.
Headed to Morocco this weekend. Can I get away with wearing shorts. They will pass just below my knees.
You'll be fine wearing shorts, particularly ones below the knee.
You said on numerous occasions :”it feels modern european, French spanish not typical Moroccan “. “ it was bombarded and rebuilt by the French “ this and that .Ok let me correct you and please don’t be offended . We conquered Europeans be fore they conquered us and before they got cocky with their acquisition of the Chinese gun powder that made them feel invincible and made them commit genocides . My point here is not making your continent look bad but remind you of history that never goes away and correct lies and false ideas . When we went to Europe and particularly south Europe which not only included Spain Portugal and southern parts of Italy we found nothing in Europe not even a well built HUT 🛖 in fact people lived in caves and did not have soap or toothpaste to wash their filth . We teach Europe how to properly built castles and homes. Muslims were for the forefather’s of engineering , science , philosophy, mathematics , physics , Medecine and astronomy . In fact European were still living in the dark stone ages when we were way ahead of them . The French themselves copied the art of building “ Chateaux” from Andalusian Muslim build castles and mosques in Andalucia Spain . In fact if it wasn’t for the Muslims science innovations and mastery you wouldn’t have anything today . The fathers of modern Medecine , pharmacy, mathematics , algorithms and many other sciences are all Muslims . So you coming here telling us that it looks “ European and modern” please don’t forget where it came from truly 😊. Have a blessed day. And long live the US of A 🇺🇸 and Morocco 🇲🇦 forever Allies against ennemies that want to do us harm .
Thanks for the detail, and no offence taken! I certainly don't know all of the history, and wouldn't try to put that in my videos anyway as I'm sure I would make mistakes. I just tell my point of view and my feelings as someone who's travelled the world and doesn't really feel at home in any particular place.
@@ChrisKermis I know you had good intentions but that’s exactly why people are mistaken over other cultures because they ignore real history not the one they read or were told . Cheers .
Nta m9wd hhhhh
Don't forget the Mayans
Okkkk.. all good brother...
you have not seen the real Casablanca yet, then look into the Lahraouyine area then you will see the real Casablanca.
Hope I can return and see more some day
@@ChrisKermis yes, it's just that tourists don't go there, be careful in that place
@@ganzay For sure, thanks!
what you're saying dude is valid for any city in the world.
It's like telling him to go to hay lmohemadi , yeah there is a lot of poor people there , but why would he go , every place in Casablanca is real casablanca
I was there ladt week ..stank , people nasty ....stay well away ...
Dirty city not really well organized, I dont like it.
Some places in The Medina of Casablanca are not so safe, it's not like other cities
Spain looks like Casablanca also
