This was late 50's, 1959 actually I was just a little girl and I had been taking piano lessons for a while and joined the choir at school. This used to play on the radio a lot and my parents owned the I think it was a 45. I sang this over and over......I LOVED it and still do. Finally got to see her live in the late mid 80's...at an outdoor concert. She was such a class act. She made me want to sing sing sing!! Awesome choice!
Sarah Vaughan is such an amazing vocalist! There’s no one who comes close to her style with the bending of notes. Her voice is so lush and silky that I could listen to her all day long. Thank you, Cynthia, for this sublime request, and your reaction Harri.
Perfect selection Cynthia. Nice listening for my Sunday morning. I’m still wondering what happened to our friend Mary. I miss seeing her informative comments. I hope she is ok but I fear that her abrupt departure does not bode well 😢. Take care🌸
Excellent reaction and I’m glad you finally heard this pop/jazz/rock and roll classic. This song was a played on both the Top 40( for kids) and the Adult Contemporary ( our parents) radio stations. This made the public aware of the great voice and talent of Ms. Vaughn. She was on the variety shows, talk shows , and the higher end nightclub circuit for years after this hit. I have never met anyone that doesn’t like this bouncy song after they hear it . Thanks for playing this smile inducing classic
I think this was the first song I remember hearing by Sarah Vaughan, on the radio in the late 70s maybe very early 80s, although as possible I heard it in 1959 and early 60s also. and it started my collection of her recordings, including more recently on TH-cam. Oh now consider her the greatest vocalist of the 20th century up to this time, although there are many other excellent candidates. Some of my other favorites are early Linda Ronstadt, Crystal Gayle, Lara Fabian, and currently, Jona Viray of the Philippines. I saw Crystal Gayle perform live in 1978--she sounded like exactly as on her albums--and I saw Sarah Vaughan perform in the early 1980s--Dave Brubeck opened for her. Sarah was good, but she didn't do any of her spectacular showcase pieces at that venue.
Wow! Thanks Cynthia, Sarah and Harri. Just fantastic. BTW, the dark shading about Sarah's white dress is from limits of TV (and sometimes film) in the day. Transition from bright to mid tones often had a reaction like this.
Thanks Cynthia for another song I haven't heard in ages! My parents had Sarah Vaughan's albums and I remember them playing this song and many others from the 50's. Even though I was just a young kid I still appreciated her music and that of other artists from back then. Thanks for the reaction Harri! Enjoyed it!
Believe it or not I have this song in My Music files, Part of My Your Hit Parade CD Collection. This is 1959 I believe. Great song. All the songs are great. Wonderful singer. I'd like to see you react to Kay Starr "The Wheel Of Fortune" I think from 1955.
Such a smooth great song. It got her voice perfectly. This was her only top 20 hit. This song came out of left field because she just didn't sing this type of music. I wish she did more songs like this.
I despise such videos knowing full well that "coloured entertainers" were good for entertainment values but not good enough to stay much less eat at these very venues!
This was my favorite song in 1959 when I was 9 years old. Thanks for the memory! Sarah V. has always been one of my favorites.

Great , sweet story❤ Love this singer ❤ 2:24
Thanks Harri for doing this song. I’ve loved this song since I was 14. I’ve been trying to get a reaction to this song for years.
I've loved this song since it came out. It's on my play list.
Sarah Vaughan and Patsy Cline; two of the greatest voices of all time and both from the same era (late 50's---early 60's).

Thank you Ian, I love this song by Sarah.
@@Cynthia... You have very good taste in music, Cynthia! I always love your requests. Sarah is one of my all time favorite vocalists 😍
@@iandowney4630 thank you Ian.
Recorded by Sarah Vaughan reaching No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100 in 1959.
Billboard was around in 1959 - did they print on parchment paper ? Lol ! What a beautiful performance ❤
@@reallymysterious4520 I think they started in 1955. Yes, they used parchment paper 😉
It's too bad they didn't start 15 years earlier as Bing Crosby would have dominated the charts in the 40s
Should have been No. 1
👍👍👍👍👍
My brother introduced this song to me about 3 years ago. I had never heard it before. It's fabulous!
Thank you Harri, One of your besties reminded me of this fantastic song. It was written in 1957 and released in 1959.

Oh wow I have heard this song and she has such an easygoing chill Manor about her that is so warm❤
Sarah Vaughan and Etta James...2 contemporaries and 2 voices for the ages.

Cynthia - You certainly know your Sarah Vaughan tunes. This was great! Well done Cynthia and Harri.
Thank you Dave. I had forgotten this one and was reminded by someone.
Thanks my mom love Sara Vaughn
I can't believe I've never heard this, at least to my memory. I am 72, so I lived the GREAT YEARS in music. I love Sarah Vaughn.

One of my FAVORITE pop songs by Sarah! Heard as a child and played it all thru my life. The original is great and this LIVE version is a slower tempo.
Cynthia- Thanks again for suggesting this song! I remember when it was first released, loved it right away.
You are welcome Willliam.
Beautiful! What a voice
Check out Betty Carter singing "Moonlight In Vermont". The studio version with Ray Bryant.. Brilliant
This first charted in July of 1959 and went all the way to # 3 on the Billboard charts. I was 12 and remember it well.
Here is another singer from the 50s called TINY TOPSY you should listen too
Such a smooth great song. It got her voice perfectly. This was her only top 20 hit. This song came out of left field because she just didn't sing this type of music. I wish she did more songs like this.
Hi Mr. Harri., Could be older than that.. Great though.. ♠Mr.G..
You may enjoy comparing Amy Winehouse and Sade to Sarah Vaughan
