I like to add greens to my pasta as well, but in the instant pot I usually use something that is a bit sturdier, like chopped kale. When I want broccoli, I just steam in the microwave for a couple minutes while the pasta is cooking, then stir it all in when the pasta is done. Kalamata olives add so much flavor!
Great ideas Robin! 🤩 I was even thinking to add in some spinach *after* it's done cooking next time. It would wilt perfectly just from the heat of the pot. Thanks! 😊
I am doing OnePot Pasta once a week now, it is very easy when you mastered the tricks. Vegetables on the bottom, than your pastas, than your bouillon (or water) , than a small can of tomatoes. Don’t mix, cook for 4 minutes. I do the 5 minutes waiting after the cooking time, than I mix, close everything again. I leave it on Keep Warm until we are ready.
I add frozen broccoli and veg to my pasta dishes in the Instant Pot so they don't get mushy or I just add veg at the end and let it sit a bit, or sometimes, I add in presteamed veg at the end. The secret to IP broccoli is to cook on manual or steam for 0 or 1 minute and quick release. Sometimes I give it a cold water bath to stop the cooking too. Thanks for the vid!
Pasta to water ratio: 1:1.5 cups Cook time: Divide normal cook time by 2 than subtract 2 mins. Example: If normal cook time is 12 mins, you would cook 4 mins in IP for Al dente pasta
Maddie, thank you so much!🥰 I also use Instant Pot a lot. I adore to cook there the amarant porridge, quinoa, buckweat porridge( raw and toasted(brown color) So with the pasta yes.. I tried a lot too. s different time GLUTEN free and pasta with gluten. About broсcoli I cook steam opcion(with 1 glass of water) only 0 min(really) entire head broccoli in the silicone basket. This way is NEVER overcooked. But when I cook soups etc yes it is soft..
You’re welcome Olga! 🤗🤗 Oh yes, I love to cook all those things in the instant pot as well! 🤩 The broccoli I like to do 0 minutes too… but I really wanted to cook it together at the same time as the pasta. Ah well. 😅
I also made split pea soup in the instant pot this weekend. I think food in the instant pot tastes better because it forces the flavor into the food from the pressure.
Great video Maddie, will be trying your method of cooking pasta in the instant pot as it will save energy, the fuel costs in Europe have gone through the roof ☹️ Thanks for sharing, much love from Spain ❤️
I have inserts, so I usually cook my lentils, rice, potatoes or beets or sweet potato all at once for about 12-13 mins, & then I just have to do tempering for the lentils & stir-fry the cooked veggies with say cabbage or peas or green beans. U can cook more with inserts & save a lot of time. As always, thanks for sharing;)
Actually no I didn’t get any link from you. 🥺🥺 Also maybe some of your comments are not showing up? I saw the notification in my email and then I went to look at your comment and it wasn’t there! 😲😢
Love your channel! Thanks for another great video. One dessert (which I also eat as a snack or breakfast) I like to make in the IP is chai spiced pear applesauce.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗 Oh wow chai spiced pear applesauce sounds divine! I just got some pears & apples I will give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion!
Haven't got a instant pot yet but plan to get one when the budget allows. Yummy 😋 recipes Maddie. I had your Tabbouleh recipe yesterday for dinner even though you have it as a lunch recipe and it will be a repeat recipe. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Maddie & Q.
My "cheat" is "single serving bean soup." Half a cup of dry beans, two cups water, microwave until starts to boil*. Then, add spices and chopped onions**/veggies, spices, etc. Place an inch of water at the bottom of the instant pot, lower the bowl into the pot on the basket thing, and cook on pressure for ~30 minutes. * You need to reach boiling once to cook the beans, and the pot won't easily do it with a suspended basket. Microwaving speeds that up. ** Prep hack. Cut up an entire bunch of onions at once and package into freezer. If you need onions in a recipe in the future, just grab from the freezer.
I have noticed that sometimes you release the pressure on your insta pot manually rather than let it do it itself. I just purchased one and am not sure whether or not to manually release it or not.
Just depends on the recipe! Most of the time I’ll let it come down naturally, unless it’s something like pasta which I know will get overcooked easily. 😊 if you’re new to the instant pot make sure you check out this video: th-cam.com/video/d5LaW8k0geo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2fudiGuU_2aGFjQA
Just wanted to let you know apparently one CANNOT cook gluten free pasta in the IP..I was so excited when I saw your segment on pasta & the formula...so I had 6 Oz brown rice pasta bows that I normally cook 10 min...per the formula 4 Oz =1.5 c water so forv6 Oz I used 2.25c water and 10÷by 2=5-2=3 min cooking time. Quick release sprayed thick light brown starch water all over my kitchen, the IP pot ..everywhere...it was awful...the pot appears ruined because some of the liquid seems to have gone into the heating element...and while the pasta was cooked kind of AL dente the pasta was so slimy even continuous rinsing could not seem to totally get rid of the slime....anyway just wanted to advise of the problem with GF pasta...too bad...because it seemed like a great alternative to stovetop...sigh..
Oh no! 😥😥 I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. The website where I got the formula actually does mention gluten-free pasta as an option and does give a couple tips to reduce foam.... not sure if you'd want to try it again though. 😔😣 tidbits-marci.com/perfect-pressure-cooker-pasta/#tasty-recipes-950 I do appreciate you posting about this, hopefully it will save someone else the hassle of trying gluten-free pasta.
Thanks I should have known better...duh...I know one cannot make "one pot pasta" meals because of the thick starchy water that GF pasta creates...lesson learned (Lol) anyway your videos are just great...thanks for all you do.

Love this tip! Thank you! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 What vegetables do you usually use?
Usually very simple: celery-oignons-carottes or oignons-red pepper!
I’ve always been told to place the pasta on the bottom, then the veg on top to prevent foaming. It’s just a crap shoot
@@guilene6 Sounds perfect! 🤩
@@Smudgemom2003 i never had this foaming problem but I cook for two, maybe that my InstantPot is not full enough for that

Oh yes, I have heard a couple others mention that on here! Definitely give the instant pot a try and see what you think. 🤗🤗
Awesome video Maddie thank you 😊 I'm not scared of my instant pot anymore thanks to your videos and guidance. I use it almost every day 🥰

Thought for broccoli: use frozen. Once the lid is sealed, the broccoli will have to thaw first then cook, thus cutting down on overall cook time.
Ooooh that’s a great idea! I will try that next round! Thanks! 🤩🤩
Loves this comparison of the instant pot versus regular method! ❤Thank you for the instant pot cooking time formulas. I will have to give that a try🎉
You’re so welcome! 🤗🤗 Glad it was helpful!
When comparing the IP to stove top another benefit is that the IP will switch to a keep warm feature until you are ready to eat.
Oooh yes.. great point! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Maddie! I found the time cooking on those bags! It is in the transparent side!

Steamed broccoli takes 1 minute in the instant pot for me.

It wasn't vegan... but my Mom made a Crockpot Pumpkin Pie Custard a few times... sounds like something like that would work for the Insta-pot!
Oooh that sounds delish! I bet it would be pretty easy to veganize too! I’ll search a recipe. Thanks for the idea! 🤗🤗
@@LetsEatPlants You are welcome!
I like to use vegan ham flavored broth or a bit of liquid smoke in my pea soup.
Yesss! I love a couple drops of liquid smoke as well for that “ham” flavor. I either do that *or* a squeeze of lemon juice. Yum! 😋😋
Also I had to buy a new instant pot because my old one stopped sealing. The new one comes to pressure faster and releases faster.
Ohhh that's super interesting! Good to know for when mine gets older. 😃
