Zarna, take credit for some great mothering. You have a wonderful family. Side note, my American daughter was not her Indian husbands family's first or even last choice but they can see a great marriage now and a they've had a beautiful child so all is well

It was better when the dad spoke less...him speaking his mind killed the joy of the entire podcast, I wont be joining for the next one, if this is what I am going to get...And if he were to marry today, he wouldn't get a woman his age, leave alone someone 25 and leave even more alone Zarna at 25...IIT grads have brains but they lack minds and this is a living proof why these same IIT people die looking for girlfriends in college... Not a big deal to crack IIT and earn so much money if you have no respect for people and have the weird notions that the world is equal and fair for everyone and making a law is sufficient - too idealistic in an unidealistic world is like a square peg in a round hole... so please try improving your outlook... Supporting your wife is one thing, but if you cant support women in general then your words are hypocritical and you support her out of fear of having to raise the kids alone... very sweet family, however if being hygienic "seems very gay" and that "guys don't keep their rooms clean cause they have better thing to do such as fighting wars" you guys might want to question you ideas surrounding homosexuality. Gays are not guys, because they are gay? There are plenty of unhygienic gays who are in the army. I don't think there is any ill will meant, but it underlines some strange ideas you might have around gay people. Gay guys are guys... If you read history you will find there are many "gay men" who started wars... maybe realise that being gay is not an overarching characteristic that rules all aspects of one's life.

This was problematic on so many levels- sexist/ homophobic/ classist/ racist( the 50 yr old Desi man dismisses Gisele that she isn’t even a American)
I strongly suggest you take this off the internet although you can never take back your words. TBH you possibly have messed up your older sons chances at college given his very problematic statements about his views on women. Your husband’s misogyny and patriarchal backward views are not surprising at all. Here I was a fan of Zarna- a woman who did break traditional stereotypes and made a name for herself as a stand up comedian in America, and I watched this with so much hope. My jaw dropped open to see this family far more regressive than even your average Indian immigrant family. Zoya is amazing despite her upbringing. The problem really isnt that the parents focus so much on money and Ivy League education as a parameter for success. It is the blatant lack of self awareness that makes me want to scream. Please don’t promote this a comedy because it wasn’t and don’t promote this as a informative podcast because it was appalling. Goodness where are the truly decent progressive Indians??? Please stand up!!!

I hope, 36:34 "Gender roles exist for a reason" is a clickbait statement for one of the upcoming podcasts. Nevertheless, the segment on gender and sexuality where Shalabh showed that he is from Ghaziabad afterall, left a sour taste to what was otherwise a wholesome discussion. Zoya as always was a rockstar calling out her family members for their pedestrian views on the topic they appear to not understand. More power to you Zoya! May you shine with your sensitivity, smartness and ambition.

Zoya, I think I partially understand you as a Turkish woman in her mid-twenties, you faced with many difficulties with your families' opinions and aware of unequalities as a woman and non-white person, and still deal with them, especially teenage brothers... I hope your mom will understand you better and better, you learned from her and you will teach each other in this journey. love

I just wanted to make an observation on how Brij is always reassured and praised (ie: handsome son etc), rightfully so, but Zoya is often brought down and made fun of, especially by the dad. Im aware that this is only 40 mins of their lives and I don’t want to make any grand assumptions, but nevertheless it would be great if the parents would appreciate Zoya more on public platforms (not making general statement for what happens behind closed doors as I cannot claim to know what happens in their lives off reel). Women need to be commended too. Break the cycle of talking down to women and girls. She’s stunning and goes to an IV league. She deserves her opinions to be heard and respected. She’s the only one that makes sense 100% of the time. Great to see that Brij treats her with the respect she deserves.

Does the dad really thinks he is being funny, because all I can hear is cringe after cringe coming out of his mouth for his own daughter and the need to remind everyone that he is an IITian. 🤮 Keeping the 11 year old kid aside, looks like Zoya is the only one who is sane in this family and has immense respect for her own gender and the gay community. I hope her world views never changes and doesn't get influenced by her mom who is making money by stereotyping Indians. The less said about the dad's homophobia, the better.

Your kids are v smart for their age… I agree with Zoya… an ambitious women needs a boy who has a sister. It makes a lot of difference. I am sitting here taking parenting tips. These are topics which parents need to talk about … the Bollywood movies screwed our minds… and cheers to Zarna and Shalabh for being honest that money tops love and vice versa depending on situation… one learns that later in life.
