Shinehead is brilliant, and you can tell by this interview...an intellect. Lyrically gifted. His accolades are much, and he doesn't brag about them. He needs to do more shows in Jamaica to introduce more people to his talent.
Shinehead is one of the most humble artiste that I have ever met. Growing up in NYC he was always down to earth and very creative. He was/is one of the best entertainer that I had to pleasure of watching. He is also a lover of jazz and opera music. Congrats to him and his beautiful butterfly. He is truly one of our living legend.
I could listen to shine head all day, love dis bredda from day one. Great songs great musical career, keep striving king you have opened the doors for others as a jamaican in New York.
Thank u Teach. One of the Artiste I really wanted to see on your Platform but I didn't request him. However I extremely happy you found the Magnificent Mr Shine aka Shinehead. Shinehead is one of Jamaica's most Talented and Versatile Artiste as Singer, Rapper and Dancehall DJ. He has done a great deal for the Culture with NO recognition with one the biggest songs of all time. I was at a Primary School in Clarendon a couple months ago they announcing the Monitors, Class Leaders and Prefects and STRIVE was the Song that played throughout the Entire ceremony on heavy rotation. Big Song.
Mi first concert mi father bring mi to as a baby it was a shine head show at UWI n mi sleep thru di wul show lol… mi father made me a fan a this man, big up LEGEND‼️
You know how long I’ve been waiting on this interview. One a dem artiste from my youth days that exemplified the art and send thrill in your down times.
Big up to Teach Dem for one of the best interviews ever done , and to Shinehead , one of the true legends indeed. This feels like the return of good music fi real.

great interview of one of my favorite artistes of all time!!! Daddy Shinehead is too unappreciated at home! Lots who getting big ups and medals can't walk near Shinehead! Give thanks for this interview
Legendary and Epic! Shinehead remains ruffnrugged . . . Apprecilove you sharing him on your platform to relate his story. Shinehead has been in this game for greater than a minute and has had great impact in influencing our music and culture internationally. Big up Shinehead, and bless up Teach and Crew🇯🇲💪🏽🙏🏽❤️
This is the BEST INTERVIEW I HAVE EVER SEEN. Shinehead is one of TRUE FAVORITE ARTIST. What a talent. Jamaica has one the biggest artist in country and wouldn’t even know it even if Teach Dem is teaching dem smh. If Jamaica know weh mi know. Dis ah schoolinz ano foolinz.
@teach dem what about getting an interview with the great jazz producer Harold Buttler he produced One Step by Berres Hammond, songs with Ernest Wilson, Pam n Woody etc.. His sound was very groundbreaking back then.... Please look into it❤❤❤❤
Shinehead is a genuine yute. In the 80's, when Shinehead was on the rise, I saw him playing with kids on the streets of Horizon Park over in Spanish Town. I always thought he was from Spain.
The interview we didn't know we needed. It took me a few nights to completely listen. Well done Teach, di message reach. Legendary tings. Much love from Canada. 🙏🏾
Not many artists have done music that touches the souls of others. Shinehead is definitely one of those who has done so, "Strives" is still one of my go to song whenever I'm feeling down. Teach Dem and Shinehead I truly give thanks for this exclusive interview.
This interview is the best one I’ve ever seen in a long time thumbs up to Shinehead very informative intelligently done. Teach dem superbly the best 👍🏾 in the media!!
As a youth, I had 3 heroes, 3 people who I aspired to be like those 3 people were Eddie Murphy, Michael Jackson, and my most favorite was and still is Mr ShineHead. The first rap song I ever wrote was called The Summary of Shinehead Rap.
For me Shine head was the only American based sound system DJ to be able to stand up and surpass many Jamaican DJs during the 80s who travelled to America. His witty original lyrics together with his wide vocabulary (he would say words like perpetually, velocity and equilibrium) could kill a DJ without cursing at all and I much prefer to hear him as a sound system DJ than a singer. He would talk about any topic (like the late great doctor Early B) almost like a newspaper and one lyric in particular I remember was about Vanessa Williams who won Miss World or Miss Universe in the early 80s.The chorus was: Vanessa Williams, you should a never enter no beauty pageant. The move weh you mek Jah Jah know say it wrong, don't try to bring disgrace pon my black woman. The lyrics was in in response to her decision to pose naked for playboy.
1ne sHINE HEAD THE LEGEND! RAGGAMUFFIN, “…USE TO RIDE ON TRAINS AND IN BETWEEN CARS AND IF I EVER FELL I’D SEE MORE THAN STARS…” Only them who know can relate. The man the great who frequented 238th in the 850 Bimmer in the summers 🆙 Strive is one of the most motivational songs ever. That song got played almost every morning on the radio inJamaica during the 80s …it was so powerful that as a student at the great College (JC) I would step of the bus at 189 Old Hope in the mornings and think I could accomplished anything; BIG UP STAR💥BoomShot!
Thank You Teach Dem. Keep up the good work. Your work will live until the end of Time. Big up Shine head I had to go back and listen again to some of his songs.
I always love this young man, his lyrics his attitude, now I know that we share birthdate. Braveo brave, keep on doing what you do. By the way I was exactly twenty when he appeared. Love you Shine-Head beautiful!!
Shinehead did perform on reggae sunsplash. I think it was 1988, while performing "Stive", he left the stage and climbed up the engineer tower in the middle of the audience. Shinehead is an extremely unique artist because he masters singing, rapping and djing. The only artist that comes close to this is Sizzla.
Yes i remembered Shinehead at Reggae Sunsplash with his A-Team Band in the late 80s or the early 90s ... he was one of the first Dancehall Artiste do all the antics like climbing the rails of Stage n walking off the Stage in the Air hoisted by patrons in the audience n back on to the Stage without going on the ground... one of the best Stage Performers back in the day
Shinehead is truly humble. I saw Shinehead on Bronxwood Avenue (Bronx) by a restaurant around 1990 when he was highly popular. He was sitting on the curb talking holding a reasoning. No entourage, no bodyguard. Just Shines. I was amazed how approachable he was. One of the reasons I love reggae and dancehall is how humble so many of our artists are. Next, Shinehead paved the way for Shaggy and so many others to be taken seriously by the music industry as Jamaican artists who sound Jamaican but want to be heard on R&B and hip hop stations. Shinehead gets love from Jr Gong and KRS 1 because they are true to the game and know Shines is a big part of their foundation. Last, Strive is my favourite of the many loved Shinehead tunes. I saw an amazing video of Shinehead performing Strive at a huge concert in the 80s (I thought it was Sunsplsh). He started singing but the crowd did not know where he was. By the time the camera found him he had come down from I think a video tower into the crowd. Of course the crowd went wild and rush him. He could be heard telling security that he is OK as he continued to sing and weave his way to the stage. By the time he got to the stage the crowd was fully in his control. It was the most amazing display I have seen of how much love and trust were shared been a Jamaican artist and the fans. Respec, Love and Honor Shinehead. Bless!
Big up Teach Dem, i just finished watching your interview of the great Shine Head. One of the best ever The whole interview was on point ,intelligent and interesting. Keep up the good work of highlighting these great artist 🔥 🔥...
