Hanna's smooth stroke, which she throw's from her shoulder and not directly over her head, would enable her to go longer, expend less energy as she would more easily establish a rhythm and ultimately produce more wood than her male companions.

Remember this ( i tell my daughters ages 31 and 25 the same ) ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS sure we all love to hear sweet nothings but how did that expression come to be? Sweet nothings... no offense to Matt. He maybe a keeper as so many people have referred to him as. It just amazes me how easily impressed you all are i guess. I like Hannah's place because she at least has a living room and I love her sun room with her desk. Plus kitchen table. Isabelle has those amazing windows but Hannah can always build on to her place. The mice, though, I could not deal with.
I think one of the biggest reasons why I love this channel is the feeling of coziness with you. Wherever you are, on the road, in the cabin...I feel so cozy. And it's addictive, it's comforting, it's pleasant.

FIREWOOD SPLITTING HINT: Find a used tire, place the chunk of wood inside the tire, and then split. The tire keeps the split pieces in a group, and easy to collect and stack. Also prevents/lessens the risk of axe slipping and hitting your leg. Have used this method for years and it is a great time and back saver. Also, it looks like you would benefit from a slightly longer handled axe or maul.

As someone who chopped wood for heat for five years, work smarter not harder. Lol Get a long ax handle with a splitter head (I don't know its official term, it has a wider wedge). Longer handle means less force as does the wider wedge on a the head. It will make a huge difference. 😊✌

I only need a couple of cords though in my 16'x24' so I bring in a week's worth at a time and I find splitting a great way to take out my frustration and very therapeutic. Yes, a splitting maul is heavy, but the weight and wider head work well with a slightly duller edge. Usually the first hit will split, but it won't get stuck, usually... So much easier than an axe for me.

You should go around the cabin inside and out and try to find where the mice are getting in. Grab some spray foam and steel wool and try to plug any holes. I know you don’t mind them, but trust me you’ll really enjoy a mouse proof home :)

When splitting logs, if you get the ax stuck part way through you turn the ax over and pound the hammer end down with the log on top. Gravity will drive the log down onto the ax edge and finish the split. An object set to motion tends to stay in motion.
Also I think those axes looks like they are for chopping not splitting those for splitting have these extra edges on the sides of the blade or maybe a maul can make life a bit easier also knots down I find it helps

When I was your age, philodendrons were the ONLY plant I had because I couldn’t kill them. I took cuttings, repotted & what started as 1 small plant turned into dozens. THEN I thought I had super plant growing powers. Being the extreme, extra girl I was, it wasn’t long before my crazy kicked in! 😂 I got a “brilliant” idea. I literally attached chicken wire to my apt. ceiling and helped them grab on and grow huge. I couldn’t stop them from growing! They grew into a huge canopy!! I looked like i slept under a tropical rainforest. My friends insisted I needed to prune them, but cutting back trees, plants makes me sad. 😂 It was a bit much to some... lovely to others & a lot of work for me. I absolutely loved it. It would look so cool in your front room! They’d thrive! Watering was a bit tricky so ran a humidifier close by to help. It worked wonderfully. Sadly my landlord insisted they were going to cause it to mold.... black mold. 🤷♀️ Then, I’d get sick & die 🙄. Then her ceiling would fall out cuz of the deadly mold and weight! The worst part... SHE would have to pay for repairs since I’d be dead. (Yeah she was that special kind of person... before “Karen’s” existed).. I hated it, but I listened and took them down. Idk if she was right or not. One of these days... I’m going to do it again! Only I’ll add morning glories, maybe honey suckle. Idk? Just some flowering climbing plants. I’ll think of a way to reinforce the ceiling this time. 😂 It’s true what they say about plants. I honestly felt emotionally, mentally and even physically happier surrounded by so much botanical life!! My college grades were even better! 😂

Chopping wood is one heck of a workout. I finally invested in a wood splitter for a few hundred dollars to save my back. You've done such an amazing job decorating your cabin. Matt seems to be a perfect fit for you and your lifestyle. Sending well wishes for his surgery and recovery!
I recommend getting proper axes for splitting wood. They'll be a bit heavier but oddly enough they'll be easier to use because the weight of the axe does all the work. You use the momentum of a swing to lift the axe, then just let it drop onto the log.
I started watching you because I also lived in my van for a while although not as nicely finished as yours but lately I have been so inspired by you to re-do my house. Me and hubby been married 26 years and we doing kinda the same, remolding a cute cabin and travel 4 days a week when we burned out on cabin work.its a simple wonderful life.🥰 We love your van setup 💖 I'm grateful Matt explained his shoulder surgery and it makes me feel better because I have to have shoulder surgery soon. When splitting logs, if you get the ax stuck part way through you turn the ax over and pound the hammer end down with the log on top. Gravity will drive the log down onto the ax edge and finish the split. An object set to motion tends to stay in motion.

Also I think those axes looks like they are for chopping not splitting those for splitting have these extra edges on the sides of the blade or maybe a maul can make life a bit easier also knots down I find it helps
Yeah, you don't even have to turn it over, just lift the whole thing up about a foot and drop it, the force will split the log.

I feel the same way about appreciating my home more when I am gone for a while. I need to leave for a bit and come back several times a year, or I get depressed and stagnet. You seem to be able to stay motived no matter where you are. Love that!

Preparing meals, keeping the home tidy, and she is not found on a chair screaming, when she sees a mouse. She carries them out into nature alive instead. Always ready to laugh. Make sure Matt does his PT. He's probably gonna hate your guts from time to time if you have to make him do PT but it will be worth it long term. He looks like a pretty chill guy though. I've been through a knee surgery and just a matter of time before my shoulder gets worked on.

Hi Hannah! Just got to say your videos always make me smile. Been struggling to get over my ex these past few days and relearning how to love being alone. Binge watching the ones I miss is one of the best ways to feel all warm and fuzzy inside. You remind me to love myself and treasure the people who love me. Thank you so much
When I was your age, philodendrons were the ONLY plant I had because I couldn’t kill them. I took cuttings, repotted & what started as 1 small plant turned into dozens. THEN I thought I had super plant growing powers. Being the extreme, extra girl I was, it wasn’t long before my crazy kicked in! 😂 I got a “brilliant” idea.
I literally attached chicken wire to my apt. ceiling and helped them grab on and grow huge. I couldn’t stop them from growing! They grew into a huge canopy!! I looked like i slept under a tropical rainforest. My friends insisted I needed to prune them, but cutting back trees, plants makes me sad. 😂 It was a bit much to some... lovely to others & a lot of work for me. I absolutely loved it. It would look so cool in your front room! They’d thrive!
Watering was a bit tricky so ran a humidifier close by to help. It worked wonderfully. Sadly my landlord insisted they were going to cause it to mold.... black mold. 🤷♀️ Then, I’d get sick & die 🙄. Then her ceiling would fall out cuz of the deadly mold and weight! The worst part... SHE would have to pay for repairs since I’d be dead. (Yeah she was that special kind of person... before “Karen’s” existed)..
I hated it, but I listened and took them down. Idk if she was right or not. One of these days... I’m going to do it again! Only I’ll add morning glories, maybe honey suckle. Idk? Just some flowering climbing plants. I’ll think of a way to reinforce the ceiling this time. 😂
It’s true what they say about plants. I honestly felt emotionally, mentally and even physically happier surrounded by so much botanical life!! My college grades were even better! 😂

Chopping wood is one heck of a workout. I finally invested in a wood splitter for a few hundred dollars to save my back. You've done such an amazing job decorating your cabin. Matt seems to be a perfect fit for you and your lifestyle. Sending well wishes for his surgery and recovery!

I recommend getting proper axes for splitting wood. They'll be a bit heavier but oddly enough they'll be easier to use because the weight of the axe does all the work. You use the momentum of a swing to lift the axe, then just let it drop onto the log.

nature and gratitude feed the soul. you made great decisions that will serve you for your beautiful life Hanna. Im now tuning 67 this year 2022. I purchased a very small cottage with my partner and it was my dream to live in nature. It is a seasonal cottage and have water from april till thanksgiving. Cant wait to open up and begin to plant a vegetable garden this year.
