Having Mario 64 running properly on a PC would be a mild miracle.
Having a native Mario 64 would be the second coming.
Having it be multiplayer would have flooded every single forum and board for at least a year.
Azumanga characters would have had non-stop Blingee Tomo GIFs with a blunt in her mouth and Snoop Dogg driving to this day.
We had to wait to contain this level of win. We couldn't handle it back in 2005.

I think i understand a bit better why Mario is seen as cutesy in japan. Because for some reason I don't think I've ever felt a custom character model has paired as well with mario's animations as these do.

I like how most of the trailer is the characters hitting each other, tripping or making each other fall. It really captures the vibe.
I know it's the knuckleheads, but god I wish Sakaki was an option. And imagine what Yukari would sound like being kicked off into an endless void.

Excuse me for getting sentimental here, but.
I am a longtime Azumanga fan, found it in 2004, didn't truly get to sit down and watch/read it until about 2008. I was going through a tough time in my life, I had barely any friends, but the stories of these girls and their friendship made things feel so much less lonely and got me through the hard time, despite yearning for more real life companionship from friends; it softened the blow a lot more than without.
The sad part is, by 2008, the show was already old news. People moved on. Kiyohiko Azuma was working on Yotsuba. I wanted to have fans to relate to, and have fun with. I found a dinky little forum dedicated to the series, but a similar fate would have it, people moved on. Other topics were discussed instead. It was so dreadful to be such a diehard fan and yet no one to talk to, relate to or share the fun with. Eventually, I did move on and life got better for me in many ways.
Fast forward to 2024, 16 years later. I am part of a few Azumanga fan/community groups, very lively. New fanart, memes, shitposts, what have you. Today, I see this video, where committed fans of the series have decided to make the most silliest mod I've ever seen, all thanks to the fans and those who had massive part in the SM64 decomp/modding community. Both communities I've been following and lurking for ages.
I feel like this is somehow a delayed fated wish, after all these years, to see the community I wanted so hard to bloom, to blossom into something so amazing, and dedicated to the craft.
Seriously, seeing this made me more happier, in a deeper sentimental way, than most would. You guys are amazing fans. Continue onwards and keep on doing what you do best.
