    Its pointless cleaning the piston and relubing it if you dont clean out the compression tube. The tube will contain remnants of the old grease which you'll push to the end of the compression tube when you fit the piston back in, which will probably cause dieseling.

    It's Almagard 3752 open gear grease also sold as Tune in a Tube in the US. In the Uk we just send the spring to any one of dozens of people to have delrin guides, top hat and slip washers etc custom made. Not expensive at all and no need for heavy grease which isn't a long term solution really. ATB 👍

    The beauty of a TX is you don’t have to remove the scope unlike the weihrauch. Keeping its zero once reassembled. Love the video though. Canadian Nationls FT competition in Grenville Ontario if you are interested.

    I actually shrieked when you wiped the gun down with the rag you used to wipe down the spring. Dirty and covered in metal shavings as it was. Just resting the rifle on it was bad enough. And placing the metal parts on top of eachother in the tray, and placing the rifle down on top of your tools was just asking for a scratch on that gorgeous bluing. A wipe of the action with a frresh oiled rag before you put it back in the stock would help prevent corrosion between the action and stock, especially considering the harsh outdoor conditions you describe.

  • @Delex9
    @Delex9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    You don't need to take the scope off Fella. Loosen the 10mm bolt, push the rear of the rifle against a table top and wind the bolt out by hand. The metal shavings are NOT normal. I recommended that you remove the compression tube for inspection. It's dead simple. Remove the e ring and pin from the cocking arm and it'll all drop out of the back. Loads of grease is not the solution, you'll loose power and introduce inconsistently.

    Dropping the power down a bit to nearer the UK limit will help with the cocking effort, the TX is so accurate that small game won't be able to tell the difference between 12 ft/lbs and 16 ft/lbs, it'll be in the bag.

    Nice video, the TX200 is the best air rifle out of the box, no challengers. Please use a soft surface to work on, wouldn't want to mark that lovely stock and action 😉. A thin coat of moly is all you need.

    Hello, my friend. Thank you for your video. My TX was buzzing, and I didn't like it. I sleeved the spring guide and sleeved the spring inside the piston and greased up again. For the sleeve, I used a beer tin cut to size.
    My TX shoots beautifully now and fiercely accurate.
    The Tin Bum Tuning Kits look very good. They look well made, and research has been spent into their springs, their manufacture, and make-up.
    From what I've learned, the spring needs to fit snug inside the piston, and the spring guide needs to fit snug inside the spring. Anything less cause vibration (twang) and aggravates many people. When all assembled, you should be able to pick up the spring guide with the spring attached to the piston, altogether, and they shouldn't fall apart. If they do, there's too much play, and you'll know if they're too tight.
    Best wishes, Ian.

    hi guys, I own a TX 200HC. I have had it for five years and because I like to service my own guns the first thing I did when I got it home was strip it down to check the internals. The only things that were "oiled" were the trigger mechanism and casing that slides into the back of the cylinder. The spring, top hat and piston guides were all lightly greased. It may be that the dealer "serviced" it before delivery as it has a long way to travel from England where I am, and as you said sometimes grease can dry over a period. Along with the Weihrauch 79k the AirArms TX200 series are recognised as being world class springers. They dont really need sleeves but delrin top hat and spring guides are beneficial upgrades. In the UK the legal limit for an air rifle is 12 foot pounds muzzle energy and that may be why I can cock mine all day with one hand, I believe you guys have no such limitations. One thing I would say, and all those who have one will agree is that they are very hold sensitive and are best rested at the fore end and not held tightly. Great video though as it shows just how easy the are to work on.

    For a long time, I thought I wanted one of these; they're beautiful rifles, but I came to realise what a pain in the bum it is just to load a pellet into it, plus, I'm a left-handed guitarist who loves his digits, so sadly it's not for me either!

    The large bolt that holds the trigger block only needs to be finger tight and orientation does not matter.

    A missed opportunity to tune it properly, with PTFE sleeves and guides. Packing with grease ain't the answer. PTFE and graphite as per Weihrauch makes a smooth shooting springer

    Very nicely illustrated break down of the tx200. Thanks
    I noticed you had 3 separate tubes of grease. A molly for the piston body, a heavy spring tracker type grease for the spring and a tube of light silicone oil for the piston seal front. .
    Where could I purchase these three different products and could you please give the specific name of each and maybe the quantity in each tube. Is this something that could be purchased on Amazon but maybe with a different name reference?
    Thanks again , Al

      Don't bother, just use a very light coating of moly throughout.

    • @canuckair
      @canuckair  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Let's see .... The Moly grease is called Hi-Slip and I got a couple of tubs from Amazon. It works nicely in a lot of applications where I used to use just white lithium. The "Red and Tacky" (that's its name) is from Lucas, and while a lot of places listed it, it was frequently out of stock. I ended up buying a full cartridge of it from our local farm equipment supply, and scooping out some of it into the smaller tub. The silicone oil came from a local airsoft hobby place. What I really wanted at the time was the larger container they sell for lubing paper shredders - but shipping into Canada was prohibitive. I also have silicone grease for o-rings and stuff on pneumatics. That just came from Canadian Tire in the plumbing department. The world of lubricants is interesting, as much of it is produced in various grades by large quantities by the big companies. A few boutique suppliers have been caught out for buying in bulk and decanting it into small containers and tubes with a new brand or name on it and charging 100x for it.

    Doing it wrong. Loads of grease aint the way and why didnt you remove the compression tube? And the way you drag it around on the bench top, overtighten screws until they cracked then wipe it with a rag full of metal chips!! I wouldn't want you working on anything of mine.

  • @kevanhubbard9673
    @kevanhubbard9673 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Dieseling causes a substantial increase in power but is erratic.Generally the first shot isn't very powerful as the petroleum substance is spread down the chamber, the second shot is a loud smoky crack,the third shot the most powerful,the fourth similar to the second, the fifth back to non dieseling power.It is effectively an air gun/firearm hybrid as a dieseling airgun is using a mixture of air and a chemical explosion to propel the projectiles.

      😀 I do take your point. Eating better and exercising are always useful. Fortunately, while my tuned up Benjamin and Ruger do give me a bit of a workout, and my Slavia (with its extra long barrel) feels like I can cock it with one finger, this TX200 with its shorter cocking lever actually makes me use two hands to pull it through its stroke. I guess it's just Archimedes pointing out we all benefit from longer levers.

      In Canada this is a PAL rated rifle (Possession and Acquisition License) so it's full power at 17 to 18 foot pounds, depending on pellet. A non-Pal version would fire at under 500 fps, so well under the UK 12 pound level.
