Done this job today, took me around 1,5 hour.worst part of the job was drill out old pin.now my gears shifts as it should.thanks for a great product and instructions
I completed this repair this afternoon and your kit fully resolved my stiff shifter. It was "sticking" quite badly and not returning to neutral when shifted out of gear, which made for an aggravating driving experience. Thanks to your kit, this video, and another TH-cam video demonstrating the turret removal, my SAAB is shifting as good as new. To remove the turret and proceed with the repair as seen here you will need some 10mm wrenches and sockets, ratchet extensions, an e13 socket, etc. I had to remove the battery case, which I would recommend people do prior to this repair because that alone can be a bit of a pain with rusted old bolts. You'll need a t40 bit to remove the three bolts holding it in. For a handyman with a decent tool kit, this job is doable in an afternoon. Took me about 2.5 hours total. Good luck to all who tackle this repair and thanks to X8R for the kit!
Hi there, thanks for the great feedback! We are happy to hear it resolved your fault and you were able to carry out the repair yourself. - Georgina, X8R Ltd
Great product with really useful guidance. I had this problem, bought the kit and fitted it in under an hour. All good now - keep up the good work X8R. Might suggest this is a job for someone with at least a 'good' grasp of mechanics...
I have a saab 9-3 turbo x and this kit fits only the fwd gearbox and not the AWD which has a different design on the gear arm. however, I managed to make new bushings for mine.
yeah this worked out perfect for me. just make sure the cut out the inner sleeve after you remove the old bearing otherwise new bearing will not go in easily. the drill isn't that good though you can use other ways
+Curt R You lock by aligning the turret to neutral. A piece of a 4mm drill bit fits this well but you can use anything of the same diameter. This is just to help prevent the turret from moving about when removing.
Hi there, Will this also work on a M32 Gearbox as I think I'm having the same issue on me Astra H Vxr box. Its only wen it gets warm that it wont centre itself back into place and feels like its moving through treacle? From my understand the F40 Box and M32 Box are very similar?
When i push down the clutch i have noise in It ONLY in the middle of clutch position , it stops when i push it to the End. Then when I try to engage the gear, the noise stops, only in 4th gear. What is the problem in here please?
Did not work for us though. Still hard to get into 1th and 2th and sometimes going from 5th to 4th you get 6th instead. Reverse is smooth as heck though xD
Just fitted mine in 30 mins messing about. Can actually find reverse now. Awesome little kit cheers

Going to give this a go tomorrow, just had trouble disengaging gear selecting into neutral.
I have my aero in a saab garage right now and they have quoted me £480 to replace the turret. I think I'll be checking out your website lol
Brilliant solution, easy repair for anyone with some basic skills. Great kit at a really good price.

Yeah i have the same problem on my turbo x im going to have to find some bushings
Hey Tobbe, what did you use for your bushings? I have a 9-3X XWD that I need to fix
I used this bushings ( www.igusab.se/product/72?artNr=XFM-020406-03 )
d1 = 8mm & d2 = 10mm
@@todbe Fantastic! Thanks so much for replying

I really need to test mine for this, 1-3 is damn near impossible when cold.
Hard to tell with the gear linkage on and wasn't sure how it should feel.
Can you post a video of the turret removal from the F40 transmission? You indicate "lock turret w/ 4mm drill bit". How is this done?

Did this today,, now it works perfectly !!! thanks !
Any videos on how to remove the tower/turret??
Does this affect the gear box when you put it back? Does it needs to be put back specific way or goes back same as removed? Thanks
Does this work for the 5 speed as well or is that a different set up?
Nice diy video. But were is this on the car? Is it under the gear stick or on the gearbox under the car?
Depends the car. on Vauxhall It's under the battery tray.
Is it also fit to Vectra C ,engine1.9 cdti Z19DTH? 16V, 150BPH?

I can't find an answer yet, will this work on a 6 speed XWD? 2.8.
Hi there, we recommend checking the part number on the top of the gear turret (under the battery tray) - Georgina, X8R Ltd
I can confirm, does not work for XWD. @@X8RLtdUK

Saab9-3 Tid
Will his fix the problem of not going into first and third gear?
Hi there, yes it sounds as though you have this issue as difficulty in selecting certain gears is a symptom of the fault. - Georgina, X8R Ltd
The f40 Getriebe yes? Opel Vauxhall
I'm going to sort this out today time can be waisted on readjusting cables
once the turret is out the job seems easy. How do I remove the turret though? can it be done in a driveway?
Yes, please visit www.x8r.co.uk for further instructions.

How did you solve the problem with the gearbox?
@@ionelsumanariu4721 Sorry for the late answer. We got a hold of an entire turret from a slightly used parts car.
Does not work for the XWD turret
