Thank you so much for taking the time to share your videos. They're full of great tips and information and I owe my results to your video. I had just finished my 4th unsuccessful attempt with cutting propogation when about to give up on roses I stumbled on your video and decided to give it one more go, with this method.
I collected a whole bunch of hips from our garden and any friends or rellies I visited who had hips. I soaked for a day then put all seeds into 2 plastic pie trays covered in tin foil lol. Watered trays and left outside in nz north island winter to cold stratify naturally as you suggested I could do and forgot for about a month. I checked but nothing, the trays were still moist so with no extra water I left them alone not expecting anything.
2 months later I also felt like I had won the lottery - 11 had sprouted..2more months later and 92 - just wow. I just kept following your advice and a few more keep popping up from the same trays. I did lose about 10 to dampening off but that's probably bc I got too excited and watered them too often.
Still a long way to go yet but can't complain about that. Would appreciate any updates on your roses from seed. Thank you so very much!

    • @ElNoorGardens

I would suggest adding untreated sawdust or vermiculite into your soil mixture to make it more porous, which will allow airflow. Roses like air, and are a hardy plant, and can do a long time without sufficient watering once established.

Once I have a few more, I will. Only thing is, I cannot 100% guarantee a exact replica of parent plants. It would be a lucky dip. Even if I do manually pollinate, there is still a slight chance an insect/bug/ant/bee has got in before me with something else.
