I have an 89 RM259 myself and used this video as an aid so thank you for that.I actually beveled the backside of my IMS pegs on a disk sander and the DRZ springs will lock right into the factory spots and unless you were were told they weren't a direct bolt on you wouldn't know.
yes, back in the day, we had skinny foot peg and we were happy to have them! If you rode hard your feet were never on the pegs any way. We were men dam it!
Older bikes were designed to sit on, not stand. Wide foot pegs were not required. It was not till the aluminum frame design that riding style changed to standing more which was made easier with the wide pegs.
If a metric drill bit exists good lord your a mechanic. I need a raise. Guess what they even make left-handed drill bits these days can you imagine that
HA!!, did the same thing to my old '90 RM250 - would post a picture if I could. FYI, I did have a 10mm drill bit but sometimes you have to use what you have. Either way this is a great mod for any old bike (including my '87 Can-Am 200 ASE 😊).
I had a nightmare trying to find footpegs for my 06 RM250. The ones I could "get" in the UK turned out to be for RMZs. In the end I bought Raptors because the import fees for buying from the USA made them even more expensive. Even still, the raptors had to be specifically built for me and they didn't fit correctly - the kick stand would wedge itself on the peg. In the end I had to massage the underneath of the peg with an angle grinder to stop it catching and tearing chunks out of the kickstart. That still, those raptors work a treat. No longer slip off the pegs now. Oh, and for opening up those holes, I find reamers to be better, especially if you're opening up titanium pegs.
Man that's a bummer! Here's a cool tip that you might like. 2012 and up KTM pegs fit the RM chassis. You can use the KTM springs as well. I figured this out while doing a little bit of research for an upcoming RC4 replica build. Stumbled across enough matching information and photos to confirm and I will be doing it myself as well soon. Thank you for watching!
Thank you! Maybe not an airbox video but I did have this old video I put together for polishing up a fuel tank: th-cam.com/video/J4XasNjJJgY/w-d-xo.html If you have deep gouges, this won't be enough but I was actually surprised at how well this worked especially for how little effort and money it required. If you have some serious damage, and I mean damage that might even lead you to believe you should throw your parts away... You have to check out my boy Phil at Plastic Renovations. He is not human, all the work is God mode!
Good Job !! Those old pegs are twigs....is it wrong that I find it weird to watch you work on a bike that is not pristine..when most of us run that 🤣🤣🤦♂️
Haha! It is kind of weird scabbing parts onto a bike that I know needs more love, much more love, than I'm giving it for the time being. Truth be told, everything that doesn't have something to do with a full build that people can win, is just filler material! Getting ready to launch again soon!
My stock pin on my 01 YZ250 is too thick to go into the tusk foot pegs, have any of you guys had to drill out the holes on the actual aftermarket foot peg? I was annoyed4to find that tusk didn't provide a new pin and spring.
Had I not found out I could pull this off, that would have been the route! But I know most the people in my audience will be happy to have a more direct solution that they're more likely to try. Imagine how nasty and sharp we could get them with the welding mod?? Thanks for watching Daniel
This same system works on the 1986 RM250 as well. Just installed this system and worked perfectly. Must have upgrade.

Awesome! I’m glad it helped. I know exactly what you mean about making the springs lock in too. Great idea, Ryan 🔥
"some of you guys are into that anyways" 😂
Love how you slipped it in there so casually. And I realize how THAT sounds too 😂
Hahaha, you busted me!
Drill bits in mm’s 😂😂 yeah they exist. Only the whole rest of the world uses them. 🙋🏼♂️ from me over here in Australia haha
Cocky Americans! 🤣

Hahaha, this is epic

That makes sense! The the seats on these cool old bikes certainly proves that
sweet another video.. haven't even watched it yet haha... quickly becoming my favorite channel.. lettsss Goooo
Appreciate you!

Thanks for watching! (It’s actually spelled “you’re”)
Looks great brother. I usually use IMS Pro Series pegs but on slightly newer bikes no mods needed. Thankfully! Cheers.
Thank you Robert! Very true too
Again great video my brother. Got me hooked on the rm250 content lol
Thank you my brother!

Hell yeah, that Can-Am is a gem

The OEM pegs on the 06 are titanium hopefully you kept them also
@@jondoyle8741 I've still got them. They're worn out after multiple resharpenings but good to keep "just in case"

These are really great Charles! BTw did you have a video on how to properly clean / save a used airbox. Trying to learn new tricks!

@@mxrevival Thanks for the tips dude! 👊🏼

They make every size drill bit you could ever imagine, they aren’t sold at most hardware stores though.
Need me some metrics for these rare occasions 💪
the only tool you didn't list is an ice cold beer to enjoy when you're done the mod!
Word!!! I totally blew it!
Great video!
Thank you, G!
Hey man. BITD we didn’t have an option for bigger pegs 🤣 Wish we did though
True, and fair!

Can use rmz/drz peg, just have to do the same, have them on my 91 125
🤘 that's exactly what these are, DRZ
Get a welder, make half cage to hang off back of peg for foot clearance, costs less money than chips in expensive grease.

3/8th of an inch is just smaller then 10 mm FWIW ;)
Felt that way! Thanks for watching!!
I have a 2000 rm250 and the pegs are still too small one of the first upgrade I'm doing.
Perfect;m! These will fit!
niiiiiiice
😍🙏
