    Hello sir, I want to save money, so can I buy 2 tickets from HK to ZJJ via SZ, instead of direct ticket which is more expensive, will bring 30inch luggage, like this:
    First ticket: 08:30 Hong Kong West Kowloon 08:49 Shenzhen North G6080 19m
    Second ticket: 08:55 Shenzhen North 14:52 Zhangjiajie West G6080 5h 57m

    • @gibbontravelogue

      Yes, definitely. The price difference between the premium and first class is quite small so you might as well upgrade. The premium seat is wider and provides greater privacy which will be good if the train journey is long.

    • @gibbontravelogue

      So glad you find this video helpful. At the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, the best way to go to the train station is by DiDi. There are three train stations in Guangzhou which you can depart from, to Zhangjiajie; Guangzhou Baiyun, Guangzhou South or Guangzhou North. Check the distance, it should roughly take you around half an hour.

    • @gibbontravelogue

      The DiDi cost is inexpensive, so more importantly is the timing. You will need to match the timing of your arrival at the airport to the departure of your train. Do give some time allowance

      So far, I’ve not been able to do so online through Trip.com. I was able to buy discounted tickets at the train station itself. You will need to produce passport or a student pass at the counter to get the discount. It’s quite a big discount, definitely worth the trouble.

    Hi Gibbon, thanks for the informative video on buying train tickets. I am bringing 8 senior travellers ( above 60 - 68) on a tight budget. So the discount tickets for trains and attractions for elderly foreigners will be advantageous. We are going to Chengdu/Chongqing/Zhangjiajie for about 13 days beginning in early Nov to avoid peak season ( to save cost). Can you advise how to buy discounted train tickets for senior travellers, online or buy at the counter? Note : For Chongqing, we follow your 10 must-visit spots there. Sorry to ask so many questions as we are first time going on our own., Thanks

    • @gibbontravelogue

      Hey no problem at all. Ask as many questions as you require. I’ll try my best to answer them. For the train tickets, we use trip.com to buy them. Do the identity verification on the app so that you can be eligible for the senior discount. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!

    • @gibbontravelogue

      My suggestion is to book your train tickets in advance on trip.com. Safer that way. Do note that your advance booking needs to be 15 days or earlier.
