Yes, look for WeChat in the AppStore and set it to English.
Heading to Japan tomorrow. This has been very helpful. Thanks a lot.
Great to know that it’s helpful. Have a great trip to Japan!
Just wondering if Alipay accept prepaid Visa
Yes, prepaid Visa is fine too.
Hello Gilbert and Lilian, Thanks for the 'quality food video' . I am from KL, we are Cantonese, similarly we are family of 5 are planning for a food feast to Guangzhou to eat their roost goose, dim sum and Tong shui dessert. Thanks for the tip, we just we have to watch out to order less as the dim sum and wanton mee portion is so big. We now have a 30 days visa free entry to China, that make a travelling easier. Cheers...
Hey Alex, happy to know that the video has been helpful. Hope that you and your family will have a great time eating in Guangzhou.
Very good and clear info. Thank you for sharing. 😊
I'm glad you found it helpful!
If you want to use Google and Watup, do you need to upload VPN ? which vpn works in China? Thanks
If you subscribe to roaming services from your own local telco, then you will still be able to access these apps. If you purchase a local Chinese sim or hook on the local wifi, you will need a vpn.
There are didi global and didi , which one do you choose?
Use this one, Didi: Ride Hailing in China. And it’s in English.
Finally a decent video on Guangzhou - nice one, very informative.............
Glad you liked it!
Sadly no Php in payment currency (octopus for tourists) 😢 3:05
Hmm, I thought there would be. Anyway, it’s ok, use your GCash app to make Alipay+ payments.
Thank you for the useful tips.

Nice video. I benefited from it a lot. I hope to travel to China soon. From Saudi Arabia we love China ♥
Great to know! Safe travels!
Hi bro, tks for you video! Was amazing and so useful! Question: 1) The train from Zhangjiajie to Furong is in the principal Zhangjiajie Station? 2) For moving from hotel to station, Furong station to Furong town you use a car app or a taxi? Is it easy to find a taxi available?
3) how many time did you spend from Zhangjiajie to Furong?
Great, glad that you find the video useful. Yes, Zhangjiajie west station is the main station. You can find accommodations around there, near the Zhangjiajie City. Moving around Zhangjiajie, you will need to 打车 using Didi. While you can flag a taxi, then tend to overcharge you by asking for a flat fare and not going by the meter.
@@thiagocamilo138 did you mean how long does it take to get from Zhangjiajie to Furong? It’s merely half an hour away.

Am going to China next month,, can I book a train ticket from guanzhou airpot to shengzhen a week before I visit China...?
Yes, you can. Not more than 2 weeks beforehand.
Love the pacing of the explanation. Thank you very much. Keep it up.
Glad you liked it! 😊Thanks for supporting this channel.
Thanks for this video. We are travelling to Guangzhou for the first time at the end of this week and your video really got my mouth watering in anticipation. I would really like to try some of the eateries you recommend but as we don't speak Chinese (I am learning since only 4 months so have some very basic skills), I wonder how easy or difficult it will be to order what we want 😅
Hey, glad to know that the video has inspired you. I’m Guangzong, many of the waiters do speak a little of English, so hopefully you can get by. Other things that might help is Google Translate and in the worst case scenarios, rely on the pictures on the menu.
If we link our Trust Credit Card to Alipay, is there still 3% service charge?
Yes, the international fees are charged by WeChat so it is still going to be there.
There are new discoveries in China every day. This is the first time I know about Dazu. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, there are so much more to see and do in China.

Thanks for the useful video! I have a qn, so I will be travelling to HK from Singapore. Can I just top up the Octopus card with my UOB/DBS debit card which was issued in SG? Do I need to buy the physical Octopus or is there an option to just register for the virtual Octopus?
Yes, absolutely, if you are using an iPhone. Otherwise, you can use the Changi app or Ocbc bank app to pay using Alipay QR code. For the MTR, like Singapore , you can use your Visa or Mastercard
Can we download this in android phones??
Hey, the last time I checked it was only for Android phones that are purchased in Japan. But you can try GooglePay and see if you can make it work.

How does Guangzhou cuisine compare to Singapore in terms of food choices, quality, and value for money, like for like? 😮
I have to say, while the quality of food is comparable in Singapore, the restaurants in Guangzhou provides greater value for money.
Thank you for sharing. Happy travels. 😊
Our pleasure! Hope you have a fun time travelling.
Hello! Thanks for your video. It provides a very good overview! I am planning to bring kids (3 and 5 yo) so we may need to skip some spots (if not most! 😅) and keep it simple. Please allow me to ask few questions here :) Let’s say if we are to take the shortest and easiest route to accommodate the kids: 1) How far is it from the upper station to the restaurant/ food place? 2) And from the upper cable car station to the escalator going down tianmen cave? 3) Can we avoid the glass skywalk or is it mandatory in any routes? (I worry the kids are too scared and don’t want to walk on it at all) 😂 and lastly, 4) are both the long cable car ride and the express cable car going in both directions?(is it possible to take the exact same cable car route going up and down). Thanks in advance! Your input would mean A LOT!
Hey, glad you find the video helpful. Your children are both quite young and you are right that the full routes are definitely not suitable. From what I experience is that you can take the bus to the front of Tianmen mountain and instead of taking the 999 steps up, take the escalator up. Then come back down again. Or take the long cable car up and then find a way back the same way. But there is still quite a fair amount of walking. The glass walk can be by passed so no worries. I’m more concerned of the distance that needed to be covered.
@@gibbontravelogue Thanks for your prompt reply! Yes, we are likely to keep it just around the cave (taking the escalator) and the area near the cable car station. So it's possible to just leisurely walk and go back halfway right? (the route is not a 1 directional?). What is the food options up there and is it far (from escalator / from the cable car station)? Also, I assumed, all are well fenced? Sorry for troubling you with so many questions!

Take away your freedom and give up your privacy. Have your purchases monitor and movement tracked.
It is the same for cashless payments anywhere, unless you want to go back to the good old cash ways. It’s your choice.

Do you get additional charge? For example, my fare estimate itu ¥13 but i got charge ¥25, from conrad hotel nanjing east road to the bund. Ride time around 20:00. Any cluw what is that?
Hmm.. never by so much. I’ve heard of instances like that. What you can do is to go to the app to dispute the fare, Didi is pretty quick to address that.
GREAT Video!
Thanks! Hope you get an opportunity to get a taste of Malacca food!
Thanks I will be in HK next year. This info really appeared very timely.

Problem is the exchange rate is horrible
Is the foreign that unfavourable? For Octopus, the fx is charged by your visa/mastercard issuer. So if you use your YouTrip or a Revolut, it could be better.
@@gibbontraveloguein the Octopus App, there is a need to select the foreign currency and exchange rate is stated. So means the app is using its own forex rate and not the forex rate of the bank?
@ no, the topping of the card is based on the Fx provided by your card issuer. If you are using your country’s credit card eg a Malaysian card, then the issuer will provide the exchange rate from Myr to Hkd, for Hkd to be topped up to the octopus card.
@gibbontravelogue u go to page where u top up money into the card to understand. Basically u r using the rates that the octopus gives.
So a foreing simcard does not affect the use of alipay in china when my cc is linked with alupay. Is that right?

Yes, Guangzhou is a great place to go to, especially for the food! Have a good trip!
your video is very detail oriented. Thanks for the hard work... anyway, could you also share how you get around the city, or is there any means of public or budget transport there?
Thanks and glad that you find it useful. We rented a car from Bangkok and drove there. If you don’t drive, you can move around using private hire or ride-sharing app like Grab. Some people mentioned about renting scooters to move around, you can try that.
@@gibbontravelogue Thank you so much for the information.
Very useful and accurate tips for travelers. Ps only looking at Yiang octopus for MTR n Bus only can now use your visa or MC.

I won’t suggest a VPN as it is not reliable. You may want to consider an eSIM that you can purchase from a service provider.
Hi Gilbert, thanks for sharing. I'm wondering if i register my Alipay using my SGP Singtel number but when in China i use their prepaid sim card. Do you think i can still make payments using Alipay?
Hi Kelvin, yes, that’s not an issue at all. You can continue to use Alipay. However, if the credit card that you have linked to Alipay only uses sms otp then you might have a problem. Most bigger card issuers now have a digital token so it should be alright.
