Moving around Zhangjiajie, you will need to 打车 using Didi. While you can flag a taxi, then tend to overcharge you by asking for a flat fare and not going by the meter.

Hey, glad you find the video helpful. Your children are both quite young and you are right that the full routes are definitely not suitable. From what I experience is that you can take the bus to the front of Tianmen mountain and instead of taking the 999 steps up, take the escalator up. Then come back down again. Or take the long cable car up and then find a way back the same way. But there is still quite a fair amount of walking. The glass walk can be by passed so no worries. I’m more concerned of the distance that needed to be covered.

So it's possible to just leisurely walk and go back halfway right? (the route is not a 1 directional?). What is the food options up there and is it far (from escalator / from the cable car station)? @ no, the topping of the card is based on the Fx provided by your card issuer. If you are using your country’s credit card eg a Malaysian card, then the issuer will provide the exchange rate from Myr to Hkd, for Hkd to be topped up to the octopus card.
