- In this Video I show you How the Replace the Steering Wheel in a C7 Corvette. My car is a 2014 C7 and 2014 and 2015 C7's came with a round Steering Wheel. I wanted the new style and so my wife Jennifer bought me one for Christmas, so I finally got a chance to install it.

Great video, just for anyone else out there with a 14-15 that want a flat bottom steering wheel, the 6th Generation Camaro uses the same steering wheel. A pretty good option and probably easier to find locally. Just took a little extra work to swap the silver trim/buttons over. If purchasing a used Camaro wheel some have a heated steering wheel. Not an option on a c7

Thanks Scott for the video. Wife got this for me for Christmas but due to backorder, it arrived last week. Install went almost as smooth, however sterringwheel bolt was a beast to remove. Thanks again.

Thanks for this! Is it guaranteed that the air bag won’t go off if you disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes? Or is it still able to activate? That’s a scary thought. Thanks!

I got my car back from the body shop. They installed the Z06 front grill, for me, since they had to remove the front bumper, anyway.
Part numbers in the description, would be nice. Im also seeing 23 ft lb for a torque spec. Part Number 11610164, if you want to replace the T50 Bolt in the wheel center. The new bolt is about $2.95 and thread lock comes on the new bolt, already.

I’m a little weary of removing the top too much due to wearing out the seal and possibly creating a leak. Would like to see the process of replacing the rubber seal around the top.
A guy at our vette club told me to change the wheel air bag you have to take the steering wheel out. Thank you Scott looked pretty easy but would I have to change the IRS module.
Hi Victor,
If you are changing out the original round wheel with the D shape factory wheel like I did in the video you dont need to change anything just replace the wheel. Everything will plug in.
Now if you are wanting to change your original wheel to a different style wheel you will need to check with the vendor or manufacturer to see what you will need.

Great help to change my steering wheel on my 2016 C7. The only step missing was how to transfer the attachments of the steering, my new carbon fiber steering came empty, without all the switches to control radio and shifters
Where did you get the lower trim with the c7 flag and saying competition? Mine only says competition and does not have the flag. A part number would be awesome if I could get it. Thanks.
I bought on ebay and you just need to search from time to time. Only one comes up from time to time.

I changed mine to a after market flat bottom wheel taking the stock wheel off the clock spring came out too had to take the car to the dealer to have it replaced all good now.
excellent video tutorial, install went smoothly, thank you. Two comments. You forgot to remind me to open the car door BEFORE I disconnected the battery. Also, why did you not mention how many foot-pounds to torque the bolt?

Are you talking about the Steering Wheel? 2014's came with a Round Steering Wheel and I just put a Factory Flat Bottom Steering Wheel.

Excellent video! I was able to change my steering wheel after watching this video....took about 20 minutes total...After waiting for the systems to power down when disconnecting the battery.

Great video. I didn't know about having to reindex the windows after you've detached the battery, that tip will come in handy when I get a new battery in a few months.

Great video, but I can't believe you replaced your stock wheel with another stock wheel...I recently purchased a wheel for my '19 with perforated leather on the sides and carbon fiber on the top & bottom, and a red centering ring at top...it's stunning!

Hello.. I did change my 2014 6 speed auto shirt knob before I started the channel so I did not film it. I will say that the newer 8 speed auto knob does fit on the 2014. Kind of a pain to change but it does fit.
Why not change the emblem on bottom of steering wheel before installing new steering wheel?
May I ask where the steering wheel was purchased if not Chevy dealer?

We got on Ebay!! Just do a search for a C7 Steering wheel and look for one that is an auto or stick and the color stitching that you have.

I’m actually surprised at myself but I stripped the 50 torque bolt that removes the wheel
I feel trapped, don’t know where to bring it where I live, without someone being dumb about my little problem
I'm sorry about that. After I did my wheel I later experienced almost the same thing with another C7 wheel change. Hopefully you got it fixed.
Great job. Just a tip though, you don't have to wait that long after disconnecting battery. 2 minutes or so is fine. Test if system is discharged by pressing the brakes and working any of the switches on the dash to see if lights come on. That will discharge and residual charge in the capacitors.

I’m thinking of getting a C5/C6 not really sure which one now. Lending more to the Six.
They are both great cars. I have to say that my C5 was the most reliable car I have ever owned. I had it for 10 years to the day and it only had to go to the shop once because a mouse ate part of a wire harness.

Great tutorial, what does it need to be torqued to?
I looked all over and could not find it but it was hard to get loose and so tried to use about the same amount of torgue putting back on.

Would love to see a video on changing C7 headlight bulb. I understand there is a way to get to the bulb through the wheel well and you don;t have to remove the front bumper...Thanks
Is there a torque spec setting for the steering wheel bolt?
I looked everywhere and could not find one but as you saw it was super tight so I put it back on super tight!!
@@THECORVETTECHANNEL I actually found another You Tube channel, Corvette Hop. He also has a great video on C7 steering wheel removal and replacement. Anyway, he advised the steering wheel bolt torque spec is 22-23 foot pound. Don't know where he got that info but good to know.He seems pretty knowledgeable. Keep the great C7 videos coming.
