Me too. Top sat nav. I'm surprised it's lasted so long. At the minute Live traffic is having a technical problem which TomTom are trying to fix their end. 2 months now.
Just passed my class 2 last week and I am starting Monday eek!, Just invested in one of these and a nice A3 ringbound 2022 AA atlas too , can't beat old fashioned at a pinch!
Great Review, I've literally just purchased this 7" Go Expert model as I've Recently moved into the HGV Industry doing Class 2 multi-drop. This New Tomtom Nav will help me out greatly 👍
I always feel that when 1 HGV Vlogger does a video about a certain thing, they all have to do a video about the same thing. I like this though good review. Can understand it better than Scott's welsh twang haha.
If you drive a lot in central London I would avoid Tomtom as their map is full of errors. This is mainly with weight restrictions. Their aftersales service is poor too. If you try to report a map error you are directed to a help desk in India who don't have a clue what you are on about, hence the map error remains unresolved. Have at least a dozen known map errors in central London, yet Tomtom can't even resolve one. Plus - they have no listed uk head office, so if you are like me who is trying to get your money back - you are stuck basically because you have nobody to take your device to.
No sim, no shopping. No clock like old one, no shopping. My company didn’t buy them, losing the signal in the tunnel, so we don’t know where to go if there is an exit in the tunnel. Lots of mistakes, I try to report last 4 years, more than 500 errors, but without success. I don't think it's worth buying. Still, I report road closure in Milano, and google maps accept same day, tomtom - never.
Been waiting for this review (commenting before watching) Now after watching, I think I will stay with my 6250 and for simplicity here is why; 1. Yu have to connect your fon to the new Go Expert for traffic updates, the 6250 works on its own. 2. No customisation on new Go Expert but can do that with the 6250 3. After a year you have to pay for those road information signs on the new Go Expert that means you will literally have the lesser Tomtom Go Professional 6200 or 520. 4. Obviously that time ticker they have removed at the bottom is a no no too, just put it back on Tomtom. The only good things with this newer are; 1. They say it’s faster 2. Good detail on directions 3. And those road info signs are the best thing I have been looking for… Dear drivers, just wait for the all in one newer model that has similar and more features than the 6250 else avoid the big screen and speed fantasy over the practical best kit 6250. I love Tomtom navs too and have used them 5 years going trying from the Go Professional 520 to 6200 then ultimately the 6250. Just avoid this one for time being.
Great review…I am also a tomTom Tom fan…had 6250 now this model…I agree with your thoughts…my old 6250 when going to a few routes around Bideford (after lorry dimensions set etc) it would never try to take me across “old Bideford bridge” off A386 its a 3tonne weak bridge)this new sat nav try’s to take me over it please..? Is there a way please of permanently avoiding bridges with weight issues…this area I know well but others areas I don’t know would cause issues please.. Thanks for your time
Are there saveable truck profiles on this new sat-nav? This is something Garmin sat-navs have had for years; you can set multiple profiles with different characteristics such as weight and height etc., to avoid having to enter them all in every time you start a new route. I've tried a couple of TomTom truck sat-navs but this has always been a showstopper for me (quite apart from the sluggish user interface and limited phone interaction, at least compared to Garmin). I drive lots of trucks and it helps to have an artic profile and various others so I only have to set the height, normally, when I get in a new truck.
Good review, I think it’s a good honest review. I also don’t like the default lane colour (blue) AND the vehicle direction symbol also in blue, it blends into the lane colour. So when it’s made better and improved, I’ll probably buy. Shame they made a product half heartedly.
im after a new sat nav, had the 6250 but seems to have been nicked out my truck. so im debating on this new model. LOVE the review i think you have swayed me to the newer one thanks dude!!!
@Jason Smith Yes, when I’m in my car 10 out of 10 times will be using GM. In the lorry on the other side, going to new places, GM is absolutely useless, send me under low bridges and weight restricted routes so many times I can’t count… that’s why I’m considering buying one of this expensive tools.
Hi Luke how do you store locations if your on the map screen with no planned route if you stopped somewhere how do you store your current location. Thanks
Good review, you are right about the 6250, can be sluggish, I like the weight and bridge height symbols on the new version other than that my existing 6250 probably does the job. There will probably be another in 6 months and 6 months after that, bit like mobile phones.
Hi Luke, Any news on the time display update yet and the auto live traffic? Also have they added the junction numbers to the planned or unplaned routes as that is for me a "must addition" !...
Got the 6250 and it is ok but slow to react. Would get the expert but will wait until it's not £400. 6250 also re routes away from a 7.5T with access to try and take you down a farm track ( staveley in North Yorks for e.g ) . Even if you agree that the route doesn't comply with your restrictions and accept it .
Hi Luke, I met you at Oxford services a couple of weeks ago. I also purchased a Tomtom go expert 7 three months ago. My go expert has failed! Just will not turn on at all. Trying to get Tomtom customer service is a job on its own! It took a week just for them to agree to sent it for REPAIR!!, OMG it’s only 3 months old! I asked for a replacement but they insisted that it was sent to Romania for repair! In the meantime I’m back to using me phone! Very disappointed
Thanks for your honest review, these sell on eBay for £350 now I have the previous version 6250 but has sim-card included as I do not trust my phone connection and as a trucker I have to go to all kind of places where my phone provider let me down several times but 6250 sim-card did not so I WILL NOT BUY this one over 6250 unless they will ad the sim-card incorporated and when they will do this... trust me, prices will be from £450 onwards.. which are ridiculous unfortunately like always been. Just like you I would like to see the clock on bottom right corner as the top was set by me to flash between arrival time and estimated arrival so for now I would love and cherish my 6250 which is fast enough and never had a problem with calculating routs to slow and believe me I do over 400 miles every night in the truck. Go abroad using your phone now after Brexit to help you with your directions and you will have a nice phone bill when you get home. NO SIMCARD INCLUDED... USELESS!
Hi Luke I have just purchased the TomTom expert7 .. for some unknown reason it's not willing to connect to Bluetooth..you don't have any advice to help me
I've used sat navs in late 2000 car only and I'm out of date. I'm a coach driver will this sat nav work for me?? I'm currently driving a 23 plate Neoplan Tourliner Tri Axle. Can I customise this sat nav to work for me is it worth it??
Hidden configuration menu via help menu. Go to main menu, help, what's new click right to last page and you'll find some more settings. Six week in and not the easiest sat nav to use, lots of missing post codes, has taken me down a slip road and back up the other side onto the same road more than once and on one occasion in both directions. I struggle to override routes it picks without adding additional waypoints and replanning route, can you help? Overall so far 7 out of 10 one up on my first impression of bloody awkward considered returning it and trying the Garmon 7" truck.
You know what guys, I've had my 6250 for a couple of years now, can't remember what I paid. Probs a few hundred but I tell you what I'll never buy another TomTom or any stand alone nav again. Ive been using road lords alongside my TomTom and it does everything my TomTom does and even betters it some areas and it was totally free. Yeah there's a paid option but the free gets the job done. I recommend anyone to check it out before investing in a stand alone
hi. my go expert won't take me through Dartford tunnel. vehicle dimensions are correct and all adr settings at zero. but won't go near tunnel. any ideas please ??
Mate, I'm having proper trouble setting this up, and if I'm doing it right and lane assistance and having my calls come through nothing :( please help mate
I have go 6250 but for me the small symbols and the RAM are the main reason to buy this navigation, but why we can’t update new software to go 6250 with the small symbols, I don’t understand. Very good review thank you.
I just bought and returned a Garmin Dezl as I was sick of Tom Tom routing but I have found the Garmin is even worse and the traffic is diabolical which is fantastic in in The Tom Tom. Reluctantly I have decided to buy this model I just can’t understand why between them all they can’t sort routing out?
I am updating to the GO expert because of constant charging problems with the 6250 tomtom not interested, sad battery could not be replaced, so i replaced it, still charging problems, what is the socket now ??mini usb or c
Totally agree abaut real time... this must be displayed visible, any setnav got it.. Also i my gi expert is quite behind on maps, junction is right in front of me but my location on setnav is away from junction. And sometimes in villages he loose Totally location and show my location somewhere in the field or river...
The navigation display route is better on old 6250. I do not like this blue box on top left. On older device was symmetry, this is all over the place. I have tomtom app on phone and I cannot use it landscape because of this issue. I am leaning towards a Garmin LGV700 MTD For now free apps are Roadlords, and I use Sygic professional (cracked) and they do the job just fine on my Sony tablet.
I purchased this unit. I've always been a TomTom fan but this one isn't their finest - but it's still kind of ok. It won't allow you to add your own poi's things like ukfuels sites and your own saved locations.. just why?! And no clock which really does my nut in 😂
Hi mate I bought go expert 7 and I am not happy with it This sat Nav. Token me to 7.5t and narrow road and it keep doing this After 2 days I bought satnav I went to argost and they said is not our problem contact Tom Tom I don’t know how to contact them there is no number Could u please help me plz Thank
Here’s an honest paid review I did three years ago. The company didn’t like my honest review Then refused to pay me. I refused to keep the video public on TH-cam th-cam.com/video/zoXS2532VMo/w-d-xo.html There is such a thing as a honest paid review if you have any integrity.
Did you watch the video by any chance? I clearly said what I like and what I don’t like. If I was this honest And wanted to sell as many as I could I wouldn’t mention any negative stuff
The honesty Congress from your personal integrity Luke. Good honest review. They are your thoughts and maybe not that of all others but you was asked for the review. Keep it up mate
Does the new expert use glonass or galileo ? For others reading this there are 3 main gps systems used for sat navs. Glonass is Russian owned. GPS is owned by the US and Galileo is European. I have noticed that new Garmins 710 810 1010 etc have dropped Glonass and are now using Galileo. Probably due to what is going on in Ukraine and Russian sanctions etc. Galileo is apparently better in urban areas and does not lose satellite connection as often as Glonass which to be fair isn't that often anyway but Galileo is specifically European orientated whereas Glonass is Russian.
This is on TOMTOM official forum, posted on September 14 2021. Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel the expected TomTom GO Expert 4G sim-connected version, due to the global shortage of semi-conductors. But that hasn’t slowed us down. We’re currently working on developing new solutions to give you even better large vehicle navigation in the future.
The lack of a built-in sim card means it's a no from me. Used TomTom for years in the car with/without caravan and van all over Europe and the built-in sim card has been a God-send.
Just bought one of these but think when your using it for HGV purposes and looking for fuel it gives you filling stations that are not suitable for wagons .
There’s no useful apps for trucks. Otherwise what is the point to buy dedicated truck sat nav if there could be mobile apps. That’s why Tomtom don’t do any sat nav apps apart from Mobile version for a regular drivers.
Hi took the Expert to France to drive from Calais to Bourges. On the way there it took me on the Peripherique in Paris and on the way back along the Seine. Both ways I wanted to avoid Paris and use A71, A1 and A21 and not the A16. Is there a way to tell it the route?
Good video, satnavs have come along way these days, I don't use any of the big brand I have a navpal 70 quid and it does everything garmin tom-tom does like any satnav don't rely on it 100 % but you don't need need pay 400 quid these days good review though
i agree with you tomtom and garmin are way over priced as you can get a truck sat nav for less then £100 as long as it gets you to where your going with no issues why pay more. i have a TruckNav in my truck that the boss put in and it dose the job
My TomTom GO Expert device exhibits a malfunction: the "G" key on the virtual keyboard registers a click but fails to input the letter. Despite contacting customer support, I have received no response. Furthermore, the purchased speed camera service is inoperable, consistently displaying the error message, "Sorry, we are facing some issues to show your subscription details. Please try again." This represents a failure to deliver paid-for services, compounded by the unresponsiveness of customer service.
I see they have just launched the GO Expert Plus. Annoyingly for services, you still have to use your phone connection. In my opinion, they have done this to cut costs and increase margin, which I feel is a little greedy.
Hi Luke, I’ve ordered a Go Expert. Just wondering, where you put vehicle specs in settings, which axle weight is it asking for on an artic? Is it on the unit or the trailer please?
Hey Luke Just purchased this, as my 6200 crashed when downloading updates unable to load any maps been told its an on going issue for over a year now any idea when or how this will be resolved thanks
Hi. I am using the 6250 now from 3 years. The most annoying thing is that the TomTom DO NOT SHOW borders and this is ridiculous for a professional truck sat nav ! If I go from UK to Hungary for example it won't show the country's that I am travelling also do not show on the map/notification bar the border when I am entering in a new country...For this new version do you have this option ?
Hi, can you have a tom tom connected to the phone Bluetooth for the traffic and have your phone connected to hands free system at the same time or will it work just for one device? Thank you very much in advance

When are you as TOM TOM good friend giving one away 🤣
Can you use this with your phone, answe calls and see texts like the older models?
Any discount code for
TomTom GO Expert 7" ?
Nope.. go eBay for £350 but better wait till they have sim-cards incorporated so they are less useless
I still have my 5150 truck 8 years old still going strong.
Me too. Top sat nav.
I'm surprised it's lasted so long.
At the minute Live traffic is having a technical problem which TomTom are trying to fix their end.
2 months now.

Great Review,
I've literally just purchased this 7" Go Expert model as I've Recently moved into the HGV Industry doing Class 2 multi-drop. This New Tomtom Nav will help me out greatly 👍
After a year of using it, would you still recommend it?
i have been searching all morning for a proper review so thanks for this! great video.
Hi, Based on your review, I ordered tomtom go expert 7. You are the only one on TH-cam who has described this navigation well. Thanks for your help.
I own a Tom Tom 6200 Go proffesional. The one to go for. No matter if you're an experienced trucker or you just got into the industry.
I agree the clock in the bottom right is something i do like. Should be an option to turn on or off.
My snooper had the hights and weights on the maps. It was so good. Missed that so much on my go professional
Thanks for the upload Mate. Really appreciate your opinion. We def can see some good changes about the Tomtom Expert.
I always feel that when 1 HGV Vlogger does a video about a certain thing, they all have to do a video about the same thing.
I like this though good review. Can understand it better than Scott's welsh twang haha.
They all get contacted at the same time. Tom-tom approached these guys, not the other way around.
@@Witteringtrucker yeah I know how it works. I doubt they paid for them.
Have you watched this video? Luke clearly states he was sent it free and is being paid for the review.
And also an honest review so even though got a free one, still had his integrity
@@Witteringtrucker TH-cam tells you it contains a paid advertisement 👌 I'm not hating on it. I watch most of these guys videos and enjoy them all.
Thanks Luke. Just what I wanted to hear and appreciate your honesty and all the tech info 👊🏻
I’m the same as you Luke, I want to see the current time as well. As for route colour, there is a setting for it in Map and Display setting.
I've always wanted to move to Tom tom but my Snooper has never done me wrong.
When will Google maps just update a HgV version and just finish Tom Tom like Apple did to Nokia ??

Here’s an honest paid review I did three years ago.
The company didn’t like my honest review Then refused to pay me. I refused to keep the video public on TH-cam
th-cam.com/video/zoXS2532VMo/w-d-xo.html
There is such a thing as a honest paid review if you have any integrity.
Comes not Congress...... predictive text
He is honest trust me I can tell as I'm from England as well.

Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel the expected TomTom GO Expert 4G sim-connected version, due to the global shortage of semi-conductors. But that hasn’t slowed us down. We’re currently working on developing new solutions to give you even better large vehicle navigation in the future.
confirm, just seen this myself after reading your post.
Does this have hands free calling being 5ha5 it connects via Bluetooth ; if not is there a Tom Tom out there in the 7” series that’s does
Hi luke do you know when they plan to bring it out with a sim
Garmin is a dedicated truckers nav.
This is a good review
The lack of a built-in sim card means it's a no from me. Used TomTom for years in the car with/without caravan and van all over Europe and the built-in sim card has been a God-send.
Absolutely agree..!
Me too, is there a current TomTom model with a built in sim?
I have 1 but missing the klok very
Yea but u have to have ur fone connected to can u still have ur blue tooth head fones connected to ur fone to with no interference?
Hi Luke a great video about the new TomTom
Why doesn’t it show the battery percentage while driving ???
Nice what about Sygic truck app?
Just bought one of these but think when your using it for HGV purposes and looking for fuel it gives you filling stations that are not suitable for wagons .
Thank you. That was helpful 😃
It would be interesting if someone would review the phone/tablet based GPS apps and other trucking apps too.
There’s no useful apps for trucks. Otherwise what is the point to buy dedicated truck sat nav if there could be mobile apps. That’s why Tomtom don’t do any sat nav apps apart from Mobile version for a regular drivers.
@@EduardSLVRU you clearly do not do your own research.
What is it like with low bridges ?
Which one is better, TomTom go expert, or Garmin dezl800 for UK? Did anybody try them both? Really hard to choose…
Yes video on it coming soon, it’s in my kitchen but we’re moving house so it has to wait 😂
Hay luke so what do you do with the other Tom Tom's you have do they go back to Tom Tom !!!!
Hi Luke, I’ve ordered a Go Expert. Just wondering, where you put vehicle specs in settings, which axle weight is it asking for on an artic? Is it on the unit or the trailer please?
How as it improved the manual search speeds? I currently have the 'TT 6200' and it's always been quite laggy. Seriously considering upgrading.
Is maps same
Hey Luke
Just purchased this, as my 6200 crashed when downloading updates unable to load any maps been told its an on going issue for over a year now any idea when or how this will be resolved thanks
Like what do u with your old ones I'm a new hgv driver and can't afford to buy a new one atm
Struggling to make or receive a call on this thing, am I doing something wrong? My phone is connected through Bluetooth but that’s it.
1- Charging pin is not good. 2- no current time 3- no carry bag
Do you get free lifetime updates with that one like you do with the 6250?
Hi can you make/answer phone calls on that tomtom model?
No current time on display is not good. Please update @tomtom
Good Wednesday morning to you sir and your family
