About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. i spent 2.5 years living in my fj45 in the mid 80s , nearly the same set up , dog included. gib river ,cape york fraser island. first 9 months didnt even have an esky. had a ball. thanks for the memorys . i would still travel like that. there is something about doing it basicly

Was honestly so good and the car did so well!
The price for gas here in the states right now is about $1.18 Australian per liter. A lot less than you are paying, but the price of fuel here jumped nearly 50% over the past few months. At the beginning of the year, it was about $.90 per liter Australian.
As I write this comment price per litre diesel is around $2.20

You have that looking good with none of the sway-backed mule body drop at the front of the cab. No doubt as a long term owner your oldie will be onto it but for yourself, be watchful of the left side wheel nuts coming loose. Getting water on them crossing a couple of floodways was enough to set them off from dead tight at the beginning of a trip to a wheel coming off after 215 miles on a mix of dirt road and sealed road but mostly sealed road. The front wheel began to rumble and fortunately rode on the Warn hub into the moment I halted when it popped off and the front dropped. Four of the rear left wheel nuts had also lost tension. Another newer Arkana-bodied Toyota also used to loosen the left wheel nuts. There would always be one or two which would snug up when checked. Also watch out for an internal rust in the hollow ends of the track rod and drag link. There is a sort of collar rot happens inside where the ball joint threads reach inside the hollowed ends of the drag link and track rod. Maybe the steel was better on the 1980s vehicles but on a 1967 FJ45 I had, I got a decent scare when I saw just how thin the metal had become from rust. Water gets in through the slots under the clamps.

Wow, there’s a road to wedge island ? It’s got to be 26 years since I was in Lancelin. Absolutely love that place, much like you Jack, we had a shack on the beach just north of Lancelin and would go up there in dads fj40. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Yep a sealed road all the way to the shacks now was much better before with no track more of an adventure 😅

Very Cool Guy's, you can't beat the old V8, have you thought about a Turbo on the Troopy ? it was the best thing i ever did on my 100 series, they love it.

if you plan to take the loved yellow FJ more often down the beach, think about having a good rust protection for the frame inside and outside and the chassis, it pays out quickly. we did the same for our Troopy, since it was completely unprotected inside and outside undebody. you‘ve spend somuch effort, time and money in your beauty, would be a pity to have rust in or on it...

My Dad had one of these truck's for quite a few year's, Pretty much restored it, but then he sold it and now i think he regretes it. myself i drive a 2016 4runner trail semibuilt for overlanding, can't go wrong with Toyota truck's.

Listing all of our favourite National parks which to be honest were our favourite part of the lap! I think our only other top spots that weren’t national parks would be the Dampier Peninsula just north of Broome, the great Australian bite and the Eyre Peninsula in SA 🙌🏼

The FJ is really looking schmick guys ❤️ But it seems a few more shakedown trips are needed to iron out all the bugs. Well, that's what you can tell your ol' man anyway so you can continue using it 😁 Did you get a few thumbs up from fellow 4WDers while driving the FJ? Some just know a legend rig when they see one. 👍

Love Wedge Island... the dunes there are a blast... Dimples handled so well, but at todays prices, I would hate to have paid for the fuel used driving the 350 on the sand... especially soft sand.... But it handled well... Have you been able to work out the economy of the engine yet? Both on sand and road? Is it the normal 90 Litre tank you have on Dimples? So looking forward to your next video guys... Take care
Wedge is a great place hey! The car went really well off-road it is a 90lt tank and we got around 350km before I filled it back up didn’t wanna risk it as we haven’t fixed the fuel gauge yet. The old man has told me his certain it will get around 450km a tank.
As I said before the battery needs to go back under the tray. It will always be getting in the way by having it in the tray.

Great fun. I am heading to Fraser over Easter and am looking at a compressor for the tyres. How did the "Thumper" go? First time on sand for my 76 Landcruiser so wish me luck!!
There actually ended up being a petrol station down the road from where we camped so we didn’t end up testing the old thumper 😆 the cruiser will have no problems on Fraser! 😜 enjoy mate!

The canopy was open just can't see it in the video :) plenty of air circulating through the canopy.
