To think, 7 seasons in and this is the first ever scene to feature Norman Lovett and Robert Llewellyn together.
No-one seemed to notice he was Norman Lovett again.

I remember in the very first episode, Lister is continuously saying "Is he dead", Holly keeps on answering "Yes he's dead, everone's dead" and finally frustrated Holly says "Gordon Bennett, they are all dead!!!!" lol

I love Hattie as Holly but there was just something about Norman's deadpan delivery that made him unique compared to her.

Holly was just as important as any of the others, this is a series that was so good, yet at the same time sabotaged itself by it's own production team.(Similar to the self destruction perpetrated by the production team at Dr Who) Norman Lovett was mistreated and the series suffered without him. It was good while it lasted, but it could've been a whole lot better.
Definitely,red dwarf and doctor who were both taken out from the inside
He was a great character and just as much a part of the crew as the actual crew themselves, but I think the series still continued to be great up until near the end of the "original series", just before the "back in the red" days. I think the fem-Holly did a good job in her own right.
Agreed, some good episodes in the mid to late series but the show never recovered from losing Norman Lovett.
The original Holly should have been back for series 10, ain't quite the same without him.

haha! its great! when i first got really into red dwarf i bought series 1-8 on dvd and watched every episode one after the other right to the end and when holly cames back it was such a suprise i just wanted to join in with the clapping XD

Red Dwarf XI or XII needs to bring back Holly. We've had the same crew of Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and Cat for decades now.

interesting that he said that and then told me about how they weren't interested in him. since writing this comment I have also read that he expressed disinterest in continuing in 2009, but then in 2015 he told me in great length about how they dropped him. Strange, guess he was telling himself more than me

Norman was a right royal pain in the arse to work with, he left series 3 because he was living in Scotland and the BBC relocated the shooting of RD from Manchester to London and Norm didn't want to come, then he came back in series 7 obviously then had another falling out with Doug over what I don't know and didn't come back again until most recently when he patched up with Doug again and was in one episode but he has done nothing but whinge about one thing or another since day one@@thepeoplespoet7320
I disagree with you a little. Norman Lovett may have been one of the guys in the beginning, but I really liked Hattie Hayridge's batshit insane interpretation of the computer role. Plus, I have to admit that when she was given an intelligence boost in White Hole, she instantly transformed into one of the sexiest ladies evar.

@jorjlim I'll argue that point, although it was nowhere near as good as the series it was still nice to see them in a brand new series ( 9 ) believe it or not series 10 is getting made in 2011 the film they made was suposed to be series 9 apparently..

Just to be clear, this isn't simply 240p. It's amazingly crappy 240p, probably due to both terrible bitrate targets and poor encoders.

You're right about that! Norman was a big part of what made the first two series Gold. But Hattie was darned good, too. Read where Norman was mad about the way he was treated in Series 8, that he said he'd never do it again. I too was hopeful for Hattie in Series 10, but I suspect the character is done for good now. :(

Well, you know what they say about all good things my friend... But yeah, I think it was necessary to have a quasi-female presence on board the Dwarf for a while, just so it didn't seem like such a sausage-fest.

I really misses Norman after he left and was replaced by Hattie. She wasn't a patch on him. I don't know anyone who liked her, let alone preferred her.

Norman Lovett said he felt he was treated poorly in Series 8, and swore never to do it again. For Series 9, I understood it, but I was hopeful for at least Hattie in Red Dwarf X. With Prie there, and just a single mention of Holly in Red Dwarf X, I suspect the character is done.
Read his coming back for series 13.
He didn’t kick bottom. He came back as Norman not Holly. Not dry enough and over acted. And he was worried that hattie stole his act when he didn’t actually come back with it . Sorry Norman

The biggest mistake red dwarf made was adding in Female holly and kochanski...
If Kochanski had been the original actress (Clare Grogan) it would have been more interesting. I don't think she added anything useful, though.
God, the writing and acting is AWFUL in red dwarf post series 6. It’s just terrible gags and sitting around explaining the plot. Whoever wanted Christine K as a crew member should be shot, and turning Kryten into a cry baby was a terrible move too.
I think Rob Grant left and since that point it’s been worse than Mrs Browns Boys.
