- So many amazing acts didn't make the grand final of Eurovision 2021. William and Deban pick their individual Top 3 non-qualifiers from the semi-finals in Rotterdam.

Its because croatia was borderline non qualifier so its quite obvioys
if France voted in this semi final, Croatia qualified.
she would have had easy 8 or 10 points from France by the Jury & the public.
Especially since you see that the French Jury voted Greece which really played on the staging and that it is a song of a young beautiful girl that moves her, a bit like Albina who is young and beautiful too.
Only one thing can heal my post eurovision trauma and it is "Seeing Deban".💘

Croatia is the biggest crime of this year's Eurovision, I'm still not over it, so sad that she qualified in both Jury and Tele vote and still did not make it. My #1 non qualifier as well is Albina

Yes, every system has flows, but to be fully honest Croatia did enter top 10 in both segments, but still with a low number of both televote and jury points. 9th and 10th places are not particularly impressive. Anyway, good job by Croatia.

Like France in the final, second and third, and if we calculate the real voting system, France wins Eurovision. But this is not the case.
If we count the number of televotes votes all the countries together, France is ahead of Italy.

1) Australia - it had great lyrics and was fun to listen to + her vocals were on point for such a difficult song

For me my three favourite non qualifiers were:
3) Denmark - They really shook me with their performance! I wasn't someone who connected with the song before the semi final, but then they honestly got me. The quirkiness was so on point and I love the kitchy, retro campness.
2) Slovenia - one of the best voices in the competition. The song was a classy offering, even if it wasn't the most groundbreaking. I personally didn't like how much they chopped it up in the semifinals. That killed it for me, but I adore Ana and her seasoned charisma and talent.
1) Croatia - this woman killed it completely. Like..literally SLAYED. The performance was so polished, powerful and commanding, and her vocals were literally on point. The staging, the outfit, the production.....just faultless. For me this was one of the biggest travesties of the whole of Eurovision. Albina would have been a welcome addition to the competition. I'm still heartbroken.

About Croatia, I hope Eurovision add a rule that if a song comes top 10 in both televote and jury, it will go to the final, what happened to Albina and the rest of Croatia was an absolute travesty.
Croatia and Austria, both excellent artist, good songs, and great performances. I believed and felt every word Vincent sung, so my No1 is Austria.
For me the semi finals were brutal. I lost nearly half of my top 10 ...Croatia, Ireland, Romania, Denmark, Latvia.

1. 🇷🇴 *Romania* : A brilliant song, Roxen is a great vocalist and I thought the message of the song was fantastic, but the staging clearly let her down. Whoever designed the staging and choreography ruined Romania's chances. It's a very modern sounding song, very radio-friendly and one of my most-listened to songs post-Eurovision
2. 🇭🇷 *Croatia* : A bop, this song just sounds so COOL and her Abina's voice suits that genre... the outfits were amazing as well
3. 🇪🇪 *Estonia* : Such a powerful, emotional song... the minimal staging and effective graphics/lights helped focus on Uku's delivery
_Special mention_ : 🇦🇺 *Australia* : My country! I agree that Don't Break Me is a better song, but Technicolour gets better every time I listen to it and I think is a song that _belongs_ in a Eurovision Grand Final, even if it doesn't vote well

The vocals on Ireland were quite off and the backtrack didn't give her enough support to hide them. I guess that the vocals were hurt by the movements and the complex staging
I love the staging but it did hinder her voice. Once she went for the high note she hit it though

I'd also like to give a shoutout to Slovenia. The song is not my cup of tea and it's probably fair that it did not qualify, but in my opinion the staging was one of the best stagings of the night. So beautiful! Not to mention Ana's gorgeous voice.

Croatia was robbed. I really missed her in the final. I’m glad you mentioned Hurricane. Not for my taste, at first I thought their act was ridiculous, but then when I saw them in the final, I couldn’t resist voting. They were awesome, those moves, the hairography, and the song is 🔥🔥🔥 I’m in the mood for some loco loco any day.

1. Croatia Sleek & Fresh. The staging made me love the song more.
2. Ireland Maps is a masterpiece on its own, I really don’t think it needed so much going on with the staging. Lesley did a great job, deserved a place in the final💓Hurricane 2022💓 Loco Loco my fave since day 1, love their energy on & off stage☺️

Finally, someone talking about Estonia, and I adore Uku and his song this year, but I’m on board with Croatia being my best NQ.
IMHO there were 3 good job qualified performances: Croatia, Romania, Austria.

I loved Croatia, it was my winner pre-rehearsals and I still love the song. But I have to admit, I preferred the Dora performance. I feel like this was the case of an entry being over produced that it lost it's original charm. The dancers being limited to the small stage seemed out of character considering the song isn't really an intimate one. Plus, I know this song isn't actually related to the app TikTok - but the Dora performance (with the oufits and dance) felt like something a teenager could replicate for a TikTok. The Eurovision performance seemed expensive!!!
Tbh, I was stunned by the fact that HRT (our broadcaster) had better sound and had zero technical issues than one big musical competition like ESC, but also let's not take away the fact that she could've been nervous during her ESC performance. Her Dora performance is vocally immaculate

Totally agree with William. I love Montaigne so much - Australia was one of my favourites, love tick tock despite the nonsense lyrics and Albina is amazing, and I was so rooting for Vincent, it was so emotional and powerful

I think, that Croatia, Slovenia and Romania should have qualified and, although this is just purely hypothetical and impossible in reality, but I would would have wanted for Germany, Spain and Moldova to miss the final.
Germany and Spain is automatic qualified.
Germany and Spain are automatic qualifiers and they are paying for the whole Eurovision. Moldova was just super lucky i guess 🤷😌

Australia had a great song and the performance was amazing. Hard song to sing, but Montaigne totally nailed it.
Croatia had the most gorgeous set of dancers, one reason for feeling bad they did not get through, could not see them dance one more time.
Estonia's Uku is a great looking dude. Was looking at him, maximizing those moments he was on because I had a feeling he won't get through so was relishing the moments while I still could. 😆

It's really heartwarming Deban supports our song so much ❤. Thank you from 🇪🇪! My opinion is subjective of course but I also think that Uku deserved to be in the Final. I just don't get how we could qualify with Storm in 2019 and not with The Lucky One this year...

I adored tick-tock before I saw the staging. I thought it was bad unfortunately, and especially the clothing.
Personally I don’t think Samanta Tina 🇱🇻 deserved to be last overall, but I will say she was in a difficult spot coming after Finland, but before Switzerland but then again
might just be me.

Before the semis, I was crazy about Roxen and Benny, but their performances just wasn't it.

I think Croatia deserved to qualify more than Norway her staging was something new and fresh Norway was something we seen before so many times such a predictable staging. Austria deserved to qualify over Portugal or Moldova he delivered amazing vocals and the staging was amazing as well you can see how emotional this song was to him. Romania I felt bad for her because she was probably nervous to be on a big stage but she did amazing regardless I love how she did a song a lot of people can relate to and she did something authentic to herself at least that counts for something.

It's Croatia, Australia and Romania- the others were all deserving non-qualifiers. The only song that got into the final that didn't deserve to was Moldova.

@@OrphanAndy usually if it doesn't make it to the final i watch but i don't root on anybody, for example in 2019 i just watched out of boringness. I was mostly with Cyprus then but it was robbed. This year i was rooting for my country and also for San Marino. But like in 2014 till 2016 when Moldova didn't qualified i didn't even watched. I just heard all the songs and none was my fav.
I still can't get over Deban doing a complete 180 on Lesley. I may not always agree with him but I love that he came around to appreciate her this year.

Personally, I would've liked to see Estonia, Croatia and Romania in the final. Although I admit Roxen's performance wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but that's not exactly her fault, considering the circumstances. That, and from what I've heard from my Romanian buddies, their TV was not nice to her at all after she didn't qualify.
