The Update seems very mixed to me. The Sugar Rush track and Wreck it Ralph aspects have been done well. The Vault Pass also seems like a decent addition, considering it's essentially just a free Bonus for everybody.
What I didn't like is the UI change. For one everything looks way more like a mobile game, which is fine on mobile, but a clear downgrade on Console/PC. More importantly it is really difficult to see now how close you are to the next Star-Level with your drivers. Before you could easily spot where you are (for example Star Level 3 33/50 Shards), but now you will only see your progress to the next level. If I am for example Level 25 and than see 27/8, than I can't immediately see how close I am to Star Level 3 and so on.
The Crew Member change is also a very mixed bag. Sure, it's nice that paying players have less advantages, but the perentage change isn't great. If I for example put a Handling crem member on a heavy character, the additional 2-5% to an already super low stat will be completely insiginificant. In the old system you could actually increase your weakspots. Now every bad stat stays bad forever.
It is also completly not understandable why they switched the Mickey and Friends Crew Members. Chip/Dale and Pedro no longer increase Top Speed, but now do Ferdie and Horace Horsecollar. Players might have been collecting Pedro and Chip/Dale shards for the last seasons and now those were all for nothing...
Edit: Plus there is also no voice acting for half the Wreck-it-Ralph drivers ("Starting this Season, only a select number of Racers will have voice lines added in the game. This Season, those Racers will be Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, and the yet-to-be-announced mid-Season Racer.")
I can see some positives, but I am actually quite underwhelmed by the new season update.
My thoughts exactly maybe if we sent a message to their official website they can fix this in their next update
They're clearly getting ready for the mobile "conversion".
You need shards and the upgrade tokens to level up. So if you have 6 shards left and you level 34 and you level up to 35 you will automatically get a star level
The vault races are cool , I like that but it’s $8 for the pass . Sully is the only monsters inc racer I don’t have , started playing when it became free to play . So I thought about it and said nope never mind . Did do the season pass after skipping Ariel cause I wanted the Wreck it Ralph characters.
I have to be honest, I was pretty set to not play this season and give up on the game from here on out. That announcement of the golden pass changes was enough for me. But so far this season seems... great?
I obviously can't look at it objectively from the perspective of a brand new player, though. But for me, someone that has a roster of almost all the characters (aside from this season's obviously) and all of them are at least level 15, most are quite a bit higher, a good deal are at 35+, Jasmine at 45; this season looks like it is going to be really smooth sailing. The golden pass tiers are a breeze to get through which is very satisfying. The rewards are nice. The upgrade coin change is excellent and I love the simplification of it.
I don't love the fact that you are effectively spending $20 per season, though. And it seems like based on the level recommendations for part 1, part 2 could potentially be a nightmare. So by the end of the season, maybe I'll have a more negative view of everything.
The tournament thing is kind of a neat idea. I like the idea of being able to unlock stuff from past seasons. And it's another thing to strive for as a player. Good for the dopamine.
The crew member changes are hurting a lot of people. As someone that was too lazy to focus on crew members, I am not too affected by it. I looked at my Rajah and saw that everything was still a higher number and I was like "okay, cool." So I don't think I mind. But I have seen everyone else's frustrations and totally get them. But for me it isn't something that has affected me.
The new track is super fun and vibrant. I love the feel of the new racers so far, too. The voices thing is whatever, I don't see the huge deal personally.
The new interface for the game seems a lot more slick and professional with lots more color and interactivity with the racer. But it still seems like a chore to move around upgrading all the racers. You have to get to the small icon on the menu, then your cursor will be at a random place and it has to catch up, then you go to the racer you want, then you have to press Square to Edit Racer, then scroll to the left to Upgrade... then you can upgrade. And if you want to do a different racer, you have to exit that menu and start the whole process again...
Am I missing something there? I swear it should be as simple as:
Have a button on the menu that says "Choose Racer"
Have the menu of racers
Choose your racer
Have a list of items for Upgrade, Edit Crew, Customization. In Customization will be a menu for Kart and Outfit.
Like would that not be a lot better? I just think this version is really cumbersome.
Anyways. I really think so far this is a step in the right direction. I'm quite surprised as I was one of the biggest haters. But credit where it's due, I'm quite impressed so far. We'll see how it pans out by the end of the season, though. I know the Frozen season started out really well and then took a nosedive by the end.
Also I'm not dismissing anyone's complaints. I've read them and they're ALL valid. The switch from being able to use premium currency that you can earn or stockpile to buy the golden pass to only being able to buy the golden pass with real money? Effectively needing use your golden pass tokens twice as fast to get a full season's items? Absolute dog water, and I feel that pain for sure. It's good they at least gave the option to convert those tokens to golden pass credits for a limited time, but it feels like a calculated corporate decision and not a goodwill kind of thing.
Looking at the vault pass it’s absolutely worth it coming from a player that doesn’t spend money on the game anyone considering getting the vault passes get them you have opportunities to unlock these racers and great value for money you spend
I love the world map, it gives me Kingdom Hearts vibs!
On that, I'm happy with. The rest however....I'm on the fence
My meg lost 600 top speed at level 50 I'm fucking sick meanwhile the naturally broken fast characters are still above 8k with no buffs to speedsters at all 😭😭😭😭

I am LOVING this season so far! I still HOPE they revert their Golden Pass change in season eight.
The missing voices for some characters is a bummer. I hope they change that, cause it devalues them imo 🥲
They only got infinite+1 money so far, so they couldn't afford it. Maybe once they get infinite+2 money, we'll get more voices. /s
Imagine these voices from Wreck-it Ralph season here's Fix-it Felix Jr. voiced by Jack McBrayer, Sergeant Calhoun voiced by Jane Lynch and King Candy voiced by Alan Tudyk. And well, Obviously Vanellope voiced by Laura Silverman, Sarah's sister. And Ralph is voiced by Brian T. Delaney
I hope that this isn’t the case for future seasons, where half the racers get voice lines

You 2 check their customer service. It’s a known issue and being worked on. So until they say it’s fixed don’t spend them yet.

It's crazy that this season is only for 25 days. It seems like they're trying to hurry up and get it over with. I'm curious to see what franchises are coming in seasons 8 & 9.
This is Only Part 1, They Split the Season up to give us more stuff to earn

Same thing happened to me. Apparently it's a known bug and GL is working on fixing it so maybe just dont open his boxes until they've announced its fixed
Vanellope seems a lil broken once you start upgrading her and get her epic crew member

I tried accessing the Wreck-it Ralph season on Disney Speedstorm on my Switch this morning, it wouldn't log into it. It still has the things in the shop, but it doesn't have the new events, so I can't do them.

Idk if it was a bug or glitch but when I played with Fix-it Felix or The King, they didn't have a voice. Anyone experience this?
Unfortunately some characters just won’t have voices anymore… seems like they’re really taking the Disney Magic Kingdoms route

Played a few races this morning and the controls seem sluggish and off the norm. Also, how is the ranked matchmaking?
i played one game as woody (mpr 9) and there were 3 venelopes in one race. those three took the first, second and third places on the race.
to be honest...I was really looking forward to this season, I went to watch the movie beforehand...when I opened the game I saw a lot of good changes, but also bad ones. I had unlocked king candy, but there There are no voices left as mentioned in the pit stop, Disney has enough money to pay voice actors, right?

Ok i try the new update and...i feal hoverwelm of all the changes... dis is the 3° time GL have cange drasticly the game... and im pretty convince... the new "upgrade tokens" are not easy to get... and i tink dis is a nerf for pepole like me have stoke alot an i mean alot of energy drinks before dis update...im not play unfortunly the Little mermaid season so for my the 5° chapter of part1 of the season is impossible to me becose i need ursula to compleat a node... i soo hate the modern gaming experience... loking a nice and fun game behind a terrible monetization and predatory tactics is sad and depressing.
*I been on for about 2 hrs now. Loving it and the upgrade change definitely more flexible*
I really think the game would have been way better if they just kept it simple yet skill like crash team racing but the rpg system kinda sucks
