    Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch this film the first time it was published. The scenes which are REALISTIC gave me chills! THIS. IS. BEYOND. ♥

    I really enjoyed this film, thanks for posting it. I know people can mention Koyaanisqatsi et al but the truth is that experimental film-makers have been using these techniques and this kind of visual grammar since pretty much the beginning. The Italian Futurists had their own ideas about non-narrative cinema, while early Soviet directors explored the world of social and industrial activity - the modern world - through wordless rhapsodies. Surrealist cinema from the 20s onwards, including the brilliance of the Czech new wave of the 60s, picked up and expanded on the idea of non-linear film, less a story than a dream, a sequence of resonant images. Reggio's epic tone poems arrive in the 80s, as if from another dimension, and we see once more how advances in the technology of making films makes stranger and more vivid views possible. In other words, this isn't so much a derivation from a particular earlier work ie Reggio's films. I'd say it's more accurately seen in terms of a short work within a particular tradition, within the history of experimental and avant-garde film. But I could, of course, be talking utter crap. It's certainly happened before.

      If what you're saying is crap, then this film is crap and the movements that you mentioned too were crap.
      Good crap.

    since i discovered the qatsi films i've been looking for more like it. this is terrific and i think its because of its 'tempo', hah. the music fits well also.
    wish it was longer.

    What was this shot on? Not bad, beautiful photography. I dug the pace, it seemed like the images were cycling quickly, but something about the familiarity about each shot. your eye accepts it right away and it lags in your brain for a second... A good shortcut to "awe".

    • @djkmediaexperimentalfilms6147
      @djkmediaexperimentalfilms6147 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's not the question you should ever ask. It doesn't matter what camera anyone uses, only HOW they use it. It's the eye and the mind behind it which counts, not the gear.

    • @zzigzzug
      @zzigzzug 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you're absolutely right, how to use is way more important than what to use but it doesn't mean you shouldn't ask what to use. Because Nokia phone cameras and single-lens reflex ones never work the same and they are both interesting in different ways of each.

    If you've seen Koyaanisqatsi, Powersqatsi, Naqoyqatsi, you've seen it all. This is but a copy. Well done but been done before. We have to find new, original things to say or ways to say them, not copy what's been done in the past. Probably the most challenging thing for filmmakers today because EVERYTHING has basically been done in the past. Unless...
