      i had an 8800 melt to my mobo when my water loop leaked so i sent it into them with part of my mobo hooked to it and i got an 8800 ultra as a replacement. not sure how the service is now but if i ever go back to nvidia it will be evga all the way.

    Just bought one. My fifth EVGA card(I upgrade fairly often, it's not due to any failing obviously). Going back to 560ti. Their customer service is fantastic. Recently gave me a new 760 GTX when my old one in one of my systems failed after 3 years of use. No questions asked and no hassles. I also respect them for the way they handled the whole heating issue with my 1080 GTX. I don't have problems with mine, but if any arise I have no doubts they will handle them with professionalism.
    Goes to show that customer service and honoring warranties with no hassles nets you many loyal customers.

    So pleased to see an EVGA review from you, hope it will continue in the future with more products!
    I've just bought an 1080 FTW and despite all the buzz surrounding it I love it, great card! And these new cooler are wonderful, especially if you consider that everyone else has gone 2.5 slot where EVGA was able to achieve incredible temps(especially with the FTW3) remaining 2 slot!
    As always great review Tom, keep up the good work!

    • @PhilipOConnell
      @PhilipOConnell 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what you just said. Is the card actually only using 2 slots, or is it using 2 and a half like the other brands? Just curious because if it is only 2 slot then that makes my decision for me. As the reason I was holding off. Was because all the others were 2 and a half slot cards and if possibleI would like to keep the 4th slot on my motherboard free.

    • @albyg00
      @albyg00 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only 2 slot! Sorry if my English sucks xD
      If I may give you an advice take a look also at the FTW3 which is even better!

    Great review. I bought my GTX 1080 Ti SC2 direct from EVGA and it cost me €809 here in the U.K., which worked out at £706.91 according to my credit card. I thought that was a good deal as it is only £8 more than the Founder's Edition card and the SC2 has much better cooling and runs quieter. I'm absolutely delighted with it so far as someone who plays games maxed out at 2560x1440 and 60 FPS (some even at 4K using DSR or with SSAA). My last card was the GTX 1080 FTW but the Ti is definitely a noticeable improvement over that card as all my games now run at 60 FPS and I have the headroom to spare for future titles. It's an expensive card but absolutely worth it if you can afford it.

      I found this exact card for $550 on craigslist. I suppose the guy just bought it for a youtube channel and tested it. Would you say that this card slays the GTX 980? I can get the GTX 980 for $200 , and either one would be a huge upgrade from my gtx 960. I would love your 2 cents, thank you!

I'm currently building my 1st Ryzen build in EVGA's DG-87 Case, which I love, although lots of people hate it. I'll be installing two EVGA 980 TI's. Makes you wonder why the manufactures don't just build the power atx ports on the side rather than in the front?

    • @JsGarage
      @JsGarage 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well it all started when graphics cards got long. They started putting the power on the side because of the long length and power on the end you needed a hell of a lot of case room which still holds true today. I think they should have hard jacks in both locations like some pro cards do. Although too many noob consumers would probably try to connect 4 PCIe power adapters lol.

FE or MSI armor 1080ti, the founders already has a water cooler available and for the Armor the block will be released soon. does the advanced PCB of the MSI will help with overclocking or does the FE easily hit 2GHz without problems?

    With you point on the power connectors, I get it but, I do computer work as a side job as it is as much a love for me as my work and I frequently have older teenagers come in saying they have their dad's 2 year old professional computer and they want me to make it be able to game. Usually these teens have more than you'd expect and putting a 1080ti in a fairly powerful Dell is easy and works but, I have had to use molex adapters to make it work a lot of the times.

    I have the normal SC black version and it looks the same as this. Performs really well. What I don't understand is why they bother putting those cables in, or the driver CD? Surely no-one who buys a 1080ti needs either cable adaptors or outdated drivers and it must cost them a bit more per card to include these things?

    I have a EVGA NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB, do you think it's worth the upgrade to the EVGA NVIDIA SC2 11GB? I recently bought the 1070 so I can return it and now that I'm paid again, I have enough to pay the extra for the SC2 11GB model. I mostly play WoW, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm. Occasionally I'll play Guild Wars 1 and 2. Elder Scrolls Online. And lately Mass Effect Andromeda, though haven't tried it out on 4k yet. I have a 55 4k tv that I plan to put it on in the following days. My processor is a 8 core AMD FX 8300 3.3 GHz if that info helps any. I have 20 GB of ram, planning to upgrade that to 32GB. Thanks and look forward to the reply! You seem very knowledgeable and look forward to the feedback!

    • @OC3D
      @OC3D  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      20GB of ram, those numbers dont work out. You could upgrade to the 1080 Ti but those games are not massively demanding. What FPS are you getting now? If youre getting good FPS it might be a good idea for you to upgrade the board/cpu and memory

    • @Wolfenheim89
      @Wolfenheim89 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 8GB sticks and a 4GB stick. FPS on ultra, with shadow and liquid detail turned to low it's only bounces between 20-28 in the broken isles, which is one of the new areas for the game that's slightly crowded at times. But in a dungeon/instance it can go up to around 40-50 fps.

    The problem I have with the "fuse". Is that is seems like a "warranty shortener". Meaning you pop a fuse, you RMA the card. EVGA "fix" it by just replacing the fuse. It lasts another 6 months before it pops again, but guess what. Now its just outside the warranty. Thereby being a fuse more focused on lowering EVGA RMA cost than other... Its also a component that can incorporate planed failure. Like you see on some washing machines that have swapped out parts that should be metal with plastic. So it fails a few years earlier than it otherwise would and so on. In short, not a fan of the EVGA fuse thing.

    • @johnverlint6074
      @johnverlint6074 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's just utter nonsense, if the fuse pops something else would have likely blown instead.

    Great review. Right now I'm still running a 1080p monitor. Over 6 years old and still running good. But when it does decide to die on me I will be making a jump to the 1440p or 4k level. I know this card will work at 1080p and I know it will be way overkill but will this card; since it's so fast, hinder my games at the 1080p level? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    • @connor040606
      @connor040606 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Athanassion it won't hinder your games per say. In fact your eliminating any sort of gpu bottleneck at that resolution with this card. Your CPU becomes the bottleneck here, and due to the insane power of the 1080ti, the CPU will not be able to write data as fast as the gpu. When you increase the Resolution up to 1440, majority of the load is placed on the GPU when rendering games. In fact overclocking your CPU at this resolution may have only a small impact here, where as at 1080p, a CPU overclocking would be beneficial if running a card as fast as a 1080ti.

    • @johnathanassion4855
      @johnathanassion4855 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your insight. I think I many reconsider on getting a 1070 or 1060 instead until I jump to a 1440p monitor. And by that time, newer cards and monitors should surface.

      Just an fyi, you'll actually want to use at least a 650w power supply so your card doesn't throttle under full load, especially if your system is stocked with hard drives, fans and rgb. It will run with 500w but its the bare minimum. You may notice performance drop. I use a 750w 80 gold rated supply. But I have a bunch of drives, fans and leds.

    I would love to buy a card from a firm like EVGA, especially seeing how they've handled the mentioned issue, but so far they haven't made a card for me. I'll stick with the really quiet cards.
    The Powerlink: LOVE the idea, but think they delivered half a product. Having the psu connect to the adapter inside the motherboard room, instead of behind the motherboard tray (long enough cables should ensure compatability with cases with too little room beind the motherboard tray), is moronic. Why not help people make their cases prettier? IF done properly it's a VERY cool idea, that i can't believe noone's had before now. kudos.

      Uruguay OC nice that's a good oc if it holds that stable under 100% load. On the memory clock on mine ended up doing better then the max I could do. It's something to do with the memory has ecc so you can push it really far but error correction will kick in and slow it down

    anybody else notice how the pcie power connectors are positioned directly above part of the RGB branding on the side so that your power cables would be forced to block out a significant chunk of text? whoever decided that was a good idea should be fired. its like theyre trying to force you to buy that stupid sideways power adapter thing so your card doesn't look ridiculous with cables hanging in front of the logo

      Some people won't have the space in their case to support the superior 3 slot cooler, so they likely released the 2 slot for people with shorter cases, that and probably price points.

    Tom, u can buy a difrent color from EVGA site but u need to be a elite member to do that. Thats mean u need to got at least 2 evga cards and someting about 200 post on forum (if i remeber this correctly). Personaly it`s not to cool for me. Yea i got two video cards from evga but i just don`t make any post / spam on forum because of option for some other color.
    Everyone who spend so much money for video card should be a elite member.

    EVGA has always been competitive when it comes to GPU's. EVGA motherboards on the other hand are sub-par. They don't offer near the features others do.

      Lighting,onboard wifi and moboshields?

    • @Sim-633
      @Sim-633 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take a closer look at evga audio offering on Z270 FTW-K and Stinger motherboards. Why does evga hide the audio detail specs, while other companies like ASUS, GIGABYTE and MSI list them on the mobo overview page. They don't want people comparing features between mfg.
      No onboard RGB Lighting
      No mobo with Wi-fi+bluetooth support
      Software package is very weak

    • @DerekBerryMusic
      @DerekBerryMusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sim Evga products are no bulllshit and for the most part other companies use marketing names to get you excited. It's realtek 1150, which is the same as Asus supreme fx without the software, which is really easy to download equalizer and do the same thing (I have a strixE z270). n creative core 3d on the classified. the specs also beat out any other motherboards at that price onboard onboard CMOS buttons , faster ram support, onboard temp reader, u.2 SSD speeds for features. it's a no gimmik motherboard and not everyone wants a bunch of bloatware software they can download.

    • @Sim-633
      @Sim-633 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong, ASUS Z270 are using realtek latest audio chip S1220, not the 1150 like evga is using on FTW-K and Stinger. Creative 3dcore is not better than realtek S1220. Creative chip is like 5 years old. It only support 5.1 while realtek S1220 support 7.1 on ASUS products.
      SupremeFX S1220 CODEC
      ‧ES9023P High Definition DAC
      ‧Impedance sense for front and rear
      -120dB SNR stereo playback output
      ‧113dB SNR recording input
      (Please find that information about evga onboard audio)
      GIGABYTE uses Creative 3DCore but gives you more than just the basic creative 3DCore audio chip like evga does.

    • @DerekBerryMusic
      @DerekBerryMusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your right my bad asus is using the newest chip. Evga ftw k the version with realtek 1150 supports 7.1 so I'm having a hard time believing their premium board does not support it. Although I'm having trouble finding much info on audio chips. Anyway playing through my speakers its hard to tell difference in audio quality of my new asus strix E and my old gigabyte ud3 990fxa. I can tell a difference though when it comes to high quality headphones. Too me though audio isn't the biggest selling point for a board especially when you have soundcards available.
