I trusted them with my life and I done everything I could to help my new family every way I could I know their are bad people everywhere but my mexican family is still close to me after 40 years of friendship ! I was stationed in San Diego CA and I owned a 1972 Ford Maverick that needed upholstery..at the time, there were no upholstery kits available for Mavericks,So I shopped around at upholstery shops in San Diego and the pricing and turnaround time was all over the place I couldn't get a firm or firm completion date.
The cheapest price was over 4k
Then this Mexican guy I worked with suggested I take it to a shop in Mexico,So we went to Mexico to a shop he knew and after some negotiation on price and completion I left the car there..6 days later the shop owner called and told me the car was done...huh?? Already?
I went and picked it up and the upholstery was gorgeous! Fit was excellent and it was done before he said it would be done.
That was 20yrs and the upholstery held up for near that long, some tears developing but not at the seams..the seams have never come apart

I'm a custom painter and bodyman all my life and I know that Mexican workers work harder and do a better job than most Americans. We have grown soft in this country and we can take a lesson from our brothers down south on how to do shit right!! 35k for that car is outrageous but with prices up here what they are, labor costs, insurance, shop costs and materials most shops have to charge that and they end up taking way too long to do the job even if it is quality work.

you get what you pay for, skilled labor is not cheap and cheap labor is not skilled. There are certain standards that need to be followed in doing this work. I do this for a living (30+) years and doing it correctly takes an absurd amount of time. That body restoration job might look ok for maybe 6 months or a year and then starts going to shit with cracking and bubbles guaranteed!

@@garylivingston9052 ive worked in the trade and yeah all thats mostly true. The thing with mexico versus US is labor, rents, regs, all of it. I think in Mexico its possible to get more than you pay for. True its hard to know whats under the paint and filler but ive worked with mexicans and they have skill, common sense, stamina, pride and passion for their work. Same for tile guys, construction etc. The trades are better appreciated, you know in America it is very hard to get young people excited about this kind of work or to learn to master it. And frankly having worked in the field wrenching, beating panels, pulling frames and refinishing there is a lot to desired working in the auto biz today.

Now ya can't buy a bumper for em for that much money and from a distance it looked great lol...I's used to buying cars for 35 bucks upto 100 and run the crap out of em lol....Back in those days a 300 dollar car or truck was alot better than a 3000 dollar car today...Good luck with the build cause those are beautiful cars when they're done right

This youngster better tip you and tip you well for keeping it under a year if not two, which I will be looking forward to see if you complete. Not disrespecting or doubting your skills at all, but this car is a serious restoration to do right and 6 months is a lightning fast turn around for a car that needs pans and quarters front to back plus structural, not to mention it sounds like he is gonna have it covered in some crazy paint color combo that’s probably gonna be hard to find. Will chrome and interior be completed as well in this timeline? I’ll be watching with popcorn. And if you pull it off I would like to get a paint and body quote for my 59 Coupe DeVille, and trust me it is no where near the level that this thing is. It’s a proven fact many times over, if an owner is NOT qualified or CANNOT do any of the needed work themselves then he’d be better off buying one that’s already complete. Just my 2¢.
I’m sure the shop will transform the old Chevy into a new one & I hope there’s an update to the video when complete but no ne out there should sell themselves short when able to do quality work as they deserve to eat as well as anyone else in the game. Good luck. (SUBd) ✌️

You dropping facts I get ppl sending me emails wanting all that work done for a few grand! They out of their minds!! Ppl need to understand a car this bad needs everything brand new every bolt, washer , rubber seals, all chrome redone or replaced, engine, transmission, all new wiring harness, seats, gauges, upholstery the list of parts is long. A rough estimate on parts alone is gonna 15-20 that doesn’t include Hydrolics!
So yes even in Mexico this is not a broke man’s Hobby

@JoseContreras-mv5yz quality in trades is significantly better in America. The quality of bodywork, paint etc is higher
The cars that come out of Mexico tend to be 10 footers. Plain and simple. Boomers love them because they are shiny, and then 3 to 4 years later you've got inch deep bondo holes, failing sealant, rust etc.
That's assuming they don't take your car/money and run
