    Words cannot express how delighted I was to see a BDG reference in one of my favorite crafting series. It's only natural, of course-this channel has the sort of iconic brand that only Hugh Brandity could inspire.

      I was absolutely thrilled to have found a way to incorporate a BDG reference in the video, so I'm happy that others can delight in that with me. I mean, if anything, I learned that I too can be my own boss.

    I am absolutely allured by your alliteration and attention to authenticity! I am just getting started with terrain building and your videos are by far my favourite (although all of you have aspects I will incorporate into my builds), not only for craft quality, but your realism is the best, your transitions are perfection, and your video editing and word play make these such an absolute joy to watch! Thank you, this video has given me a few ideas but I suspect you've already anticipated those and I will be eagerly anticipating your next video!

    Hey, I just wanted to say I love these videos, and I am excited to see your up and coming videos on desert scatter terrain! That being said, I was really looking forward to seeing your take on roads to incorporate into my forest terrain I have been making based on your last videos, and I personally feel that this video doesn't do your talents justice. I like how you showed that you can use desert terrain as roads and that is great, but I find that in this case it doesn't look as good as if you just made a video for forest roads specifically to use with your forest terrain. For example, having to layer forest terrain on top of large desert tiles makes it so you have to create a lot of desert tiles to put under all the forest terrain pieces so it is even, which means you have to put in a lot of extra time for a lot of pieces, have to double up on all the terrain on top of each other which feels bulky, and the divide between sand tiles and dirt tiles doesn't look very good from the side in my opinion. Plus, having to use pebbles to cover up the gaps between the road and forest tiles adds a lot of extra steps (like set up, clean up, etc.) that doesn't seem bad at first but can be annoying if you are having to transport your terrain to places to play with groups. Also, if you want to just lay the forest tiles on top of the desert tiles just in the areas you want a road to avoid having to make/bring all the desert tiles, it leaves a slanted look that doesn't feel very complete. I feel like if you made modular terrain for roads specifically, it would make it all look more seamless and put together, and cut out a lot of the extra pieces you would need compared to using desert tiles as roads. Anyway, I love your content and I think this is a great video for desert tiles, but I really think you can do better when it comes to forest road tiles. You have a lot of talent, definitely more than me! Thanks for the content and I look forward to more videos in the future :)

    • @raecheldoes
      @raecheldoes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the compliment! :) And yes you could absolutely paint the soft sand to look like snow! I have tried snow terrain using Black Magic Craft's technique (he also made board for Frostgrave) in case that's helpful at all! It does have a more granular look but at least bypasses the need to paint when done.

    Been enjoying your work! QQ on these, did you consider applying a matt varnish at the end just to seal in the washes or is that unnecessary/risks changing the final look?

    • @raecheldoes
      @raecheldoes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I personally found it unnecessary because I'm pretty careful with my terrain and I don't anticipate them coming in contact with water, but if you'd like to feel more secure in the finish then you can absolutely spray with matte varnish!

    Will the next video cover dunes?
    There's this old Heavy Gear fan magazine, "Aurora", that had a great entry for making model dunes. If you lookup "Aurora Silhouette Magazine"(issue 3.5, pages 17-19) you'll see a fantastic dune guide. I betcha one of those dune hills would be fantastic in one of the larger modilar tiles!

    I love seeing the knife technique to add texture! I used this method to add texture to my water tiles, which were made by laying drywall compound on top of XPS and then creating peaks of various stiffness and moisture levels with a pallet knife. Paint was what really sold them as water, though. I've never seen anyone else try this approach, and I love seeing it in basically the opposite setting (desert instead of ocean, with great results!).

    • @raecheldoes
